  1. i live my 550. It's a 1955 model. Great shooter
  2. My wife and myself took the class together on Feb 14, 2008. I pushed for the class and she took it with me so she would have a basic knowledge of firearms. I started carrying because i don't like relying on others. In reality, doing so sets yourself up for failure. I took self defense and home defense upon myself at that time. I have total respect for leo's and their job. Unfortunately, they don't follow us on a daily basis. If a need arises they are a phone call away. Unacceptable in a time of need..... in my opinion.
  3. HOGNUT has helped me out a lot with IDPA info. Might be worth a IM. personally, i think ammo cost drives this conversation.
  4. yes, i'll PM you their info if i can find the receipt. No doubt i have it, i just don't know where in the safe i put it. They are located in middle TN if i remember correctly.
  5. it has more to do with the indian rather than the arrow......just my observation.
  6. i paid 489 for a new full size 9mm NIB at the last local gun show. Hope that helps
  7. what's the range are you seeing?
  8. It matters a lot to me in the M&P. Not a gimmick in my opinion

    What to do?

i agree, the Glock 26 was my first carry gun. Solid has a rock. Another TGO member is still enjoying it to this day. I have a m&p full size that has severed me well this winter. However, don't overlook the PF-9. Its not for everyone and gets mixed reviews but if find myself carrying it more than anything else. It simply disappears under a t-shirt (important to me in the summer.)
  10. I'll take either one off your hands if you dont have room in the safe for both
  11. very nice on both counts
  12. first, thanks for your service! I can't really help you on the career paths. My first thought would be promoting products for a gun manufacturer. Maybe teach marksmanship at a college and HCP classes on the weekend. I know of a guy at ETSU that does this, might be worth looking into. Good luck
  13. i've gotta side with the OP on this one. I really don't like pocket carry for anything but a cell phone and keys. Maybe its what i'm used to but i go for my pockets for my phone, keys, and change. If it hits the fan i know my firearm is around 4 o'clock. I don't want to change up what i know. I even carry my p3at and pf-9 iwb. Personally, i dont like pocket carry for my application. However, i know many don't like OWB carry. I guess it just depends on application and training.
  14. My grandfather left me a Dan Wesson .357 One of my favorites for sure
  15. a handgun at walmart ?!?!? yea, i'm too young to remember those days.
  16. if that was needed i would expect it to be done at the factory. I don't buy a brand new car and change the oil after 10 miles. Call me crazy if you must.....
  17. I know many of us hold a special respect for the first handgun we purchased. Sadly, i sold mine off during my broke college years. It was a relatively cheap gun but it always worked. It was a Taurus 24/7millenium pro. Nothing special...i could buy 10 of them tomorrow but it wouldn't be the same has the "first" What was your first handgun?

    RUGER LC9

Tri-Cities Gun Depot has them according to their facebook page....Good guys to work with too
  19. pretty good deal compared to the prices i have seen in the past Steep and Cheap: SOG Knives Gov-Tac Knife - $69.99 - 61% off
  20. I went to regions on business the other day. I know EVERY SINGLE TELLER AND EMPLOYEE IN THE BRANCH. They not only posted no firearms (although the picture is clearly a 1911 . That pissed me off....but now they won't let me complete a transaction with a ball cap on. What bull ****....i can turn it to the side "ganster style" or backwards but i can't wear it in like a respectable adult. I'm done with regions. That will cost them my personal account (not much) but also the business account (+$$$$)
  21. this would bother me if i worked for Kimber....beyond that, its a non-issue in my opinion. If you carry a kimber, i trust you can afford the ammo to prove it reliable if you carry it. Personally, i dont own a kimber so i dont really have a dog in the is race.
  22. solid post bronker.......its just a matter of time.
  23. done......keep us posted.....
  24. i would be afraid to take a class with personnel like that. If they are that "off base" how can you expect them to provide you with carry laws without inserting personal opinions.
