  4. I hope this isn't a repost. Solid young man standing up for what he believes in. Enjoy the video.......
  5. very nice
  6. What does this taurus offer that kel-tec hasn't provided for years in the PF-9? Kel tec customer service is top notch. Keep in mind, i haven't shot the pt740 so i may be missing some details. This is a opinion from the outside looking in.....
  7. made that trip several times (grandparents live in FL.) I have never worried in the states mentioned above. GA "feels" more carry friendly than TN imho.....i see more people carrying there than in the tri-cities. Anyway, i went through Atlanta about two weeks ago. I NEVER take the bipass--however--there is a construction project on 75 in downtown Atlanta right now. Took me almost 2 hours to clear the city. You might want to check the progress of the paving project before picking a specific route.
  8. Sounds great--but--should this worry me? I am looking for my first 1911. I am not a expert on the standard safeties on this weapon: is this standard and/or acceptable? "The Ruger SR1911 pistol features a titanium firing pin and heavy firing pin spring, which negates the need for a firing pin block, offering an updated safety feature to the original "Series 70" design without compromising trigger pull weight. "

    the range

you might not want to give up on the ar platform just because some guy at the range couldn't get his right. I am not posting my tahoe for sale just because i saw a chevy broke down on the side of the road tonight. Overall, sounds like a great trip to the range.
  10. i'd do a transfer through a FFL just to be safe. You can afford to pay the fee and still come out waayyyyyyy ahead.
  11. johnson city wasn't posted on my last visit
  12. snap caps help a lot. Have a friend put them in your magazines without you seeing the order. You'll find out real quick if your flinching.
  13. Pictures PLEASE...........haha
  14. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/handgun-carry-self-defense/43262-car-accident-senario.html I got some good answers in the same thread
  15. I have spent a lot of hours carrying the 26. Personally--i'd take the glock. Here's why: 1) Reliability. I fired a lot of rounds with the 26 and NEVER had any kind of misfire. 2) Aftermarket support: you won't have any problems finding holsters/goodies for the subcompact glock. 3) Accuracy--i'm sure they are comparable to some. To me, the glock shot much better than the Springer. My opinion --not fact!! 4) Regarding the rail--i think a defensive weapon should be very simple (i.e. plain) A lot of the stuff people hang on glocks/ar's/shotty's are more for looks than function. Sure, i like adding things to a few weapons i own (522, back up shotty, 10-22's) but i keep my carry weapons bone stock. No lights, lasers, bayonets, etc. make a decision based on the feel of the weapon. Pick the one that feels the best to you. It should not needs a lot of aftermarket support outside of holsters if its going to be your daily carry.

    Sig 522

Picked this one up at Tri-Cities gun depot. These guys are great to work with---not to mention the unbelievable prices. I look forward to taking it out to the range on Saturday. I'll report back at that time. Sorry for the poor image quality. Lighting didn't work well for the cell phone camera.
  17. State farm handles all if my insurance needs. I THINK your home owners policy covers $5k in guns. Anything beyond that must be a "add-on." It was around a extra $200 a year for extra coverage (up to 25k i believe.) Not sure about renters insurance.
  18. if your both TN residents i don't see the need to "transfer" a weapon. I think it gets complicated over state lines but it should be as simple has him handing it to you in the state of TN. Ohshoot or fallguy will help you out with particular laws to support or disprove my thoughts

  20. one in the chamber also increases your capacity by one round. Another thing to think about. Shotguns are not exactly easy to load.....

I don't know much about the 17 hmr--but welcome to the TGO. Someone will be along shortly to help you out....
  22. I have seen people post about keeping their home defense shotgun in "cruiser mode" (full tube--empty chamber.) I have always done this but lately i have been wondering about the advantages/disadvantages of this practice. I have heard of the "intemidation factor" of hearing a round chambered. Honestly, I'm not sure i want to give up my location in that situation. If you broke into the living of my house you would not know where we slept. That puts the odds in my favor--racking the shotgun gives away the element of surprise. Any thoughts--maybe i'm missing something. Thanks for the input
  23. i would think the majority of financial issues would be handled in civil court rather than criminal. What would be a situation to cause a judge to revoke a HCP over a civil matter?
