I may be the last person in the free world to discover this little revolver. I've owned the Smith and Wesson 642 in the past and it just wasn't for me. Couldn't get the grips to work with my hands. After this, i started carrying small semi auto 9mm's when deep concealment was needed. Although most were very reliable, they all failed at one point or another. After getting tired of having these failures in the back of my mind, i wanted something that would fire every time. Don't get me wrong, i still feel the need for semi's--i just haven't found a single stack that has proved itself to be 100% reliable. I ran across this gun used (5 rounds down the pipe) and picked it up for a very fair price. I did add a Trijicon night site to increase shoot-ability. Below are my thoughts and results. Maybe this will help someone out there that has considered this gun in the past but never made the purchase. Fit and Finish- I think this gun is very well put together. Seems to be very tight and the ergonomics are spot on for my hands. Recoil- This was the thing i was most concerned about due to the lightweight frame. At 13.5 oz, i was afraid there wasn't going to be enough mass to deliver timely follow-up shots. I was wrong. This gun behaved very well. Recoil wasn't mild but it wasn't unbearable. When switching to +P ammo, the recoil didn't seem to increase much. All things considered, i was presently surprised. However, i think .357 out of this thing would be ridiculous--just my opinion. Reliability- I fired 150 rounds today and did not have any issues. (not surprised by this) Accuracy- I'm sure this gun is more accurate than it's shooter. I found the Hornady .38 125gr to be the most accurate today. To be fair, this was the last 25 rounds i fired. I may have just been getting more accustom to the trigger. I'm confident with the Hornady Critical Defense +P 110gr. This will be my carry ammo for this particular rig. Below, you can see the ammo fired today and a picture of my final target at 12 yards. Overall, i'm very happy with this little revolver. I may look at picking one up in .22 for range fun and practice.

My two favorites. Sipping on 1792 tonight

I wear the same one daily. Only exception is formal wear. At that point, i switch to the Eco-drive. I much prefer the cheaper G-shock. Great watch for my needs (time/date/stopwatch).

http://www.nrastore.com/nrastore/ProductDetail.aspx?p=SA+22685&ct=e I don't have one but it looks like a nice rig. Not permanently mounted..... -
I agree!! I like the G19 and the G26 but 13 rounds of .45 is something special.

we did a tgo league a few years ago. Forget who put it together but it was yahoo based. I'm in but not as a commissioner--too many other leagues for that at the moment.

Anyone have experience with geothermal heating/cooling?
Parrothead replied to Hershmeister's topic in General Chat
I'm in the HVAC business and i would love to tell you Geothermal is the way to go. At this point, the returns will not cover the initial costs in most cases. If i were to put a new unit on my home today, i would go with the Bryant Evolution or Carrier Greenspeed unit. They are basically one in the same. Be sure you look at SEER but also HSPF. Seer is a nice buzz word in the industry but in our climate, HSPF is equally as important. The previously mentioned units are ~ 21 Seer and 13 HSPF. Oh, don't overlook duel fuel if that is a option for you........ -
All, I was wondering if you could assist me with a issue i ran into while doing a defensive walk through at my new (to me) house. I have recently switch to a G21 with a TLR-1 as my primary home defense gun. I'm pretty committed to a handgun due to the layout of the house. Anyway, while working through things at night, i noticed the use of my light would cause me to temporary loose my night vision. I think this is due to the light colored walls in the majority of the rooms. The gun has night sights but i was really hoping to use the light effectively. Has anyone else ran into the issue? How can i overcome it? Please resist the urge to advise me to repaint the house--that ain't happening.

well, i have a firearms that i consider "keepers." This may be for sentimental reasons or practical applications. Currently, i have other rifles but i am look for a solid rifle to fit a variety of uses. This would be one of those guns that i keep because it fills a need. I'm sure i will buy/sale/trade other rifles in the future as i have in the past. However, i am looking for that one gun that will be with me for the long run--same as my 870, .22 rifle, .357 revolver, subcompact 9mm and a full size .45AUTO. That;s the purpose of the thread. If hard time hit and i had to sale off firearms, what would be one rifle that i could keep to accomplish a variety of uses?

I like the way this reads. Other than the fear of future regulations, this might fit the bill. I'm gonna do some research. I don't know why i haven't seen these........

i am open to something other than a bolt rife. I just assumed legislation would eventually take issue with semi-auto. If we only had a crystal ball to know what is coming. Hell, they could grandfather anything currently produced......

I am in need of some guidance. I will admit--I'm not a fan of shooting rifles. I love target handgun, defensive pistol, skeet and trap. At the same time, i see the very important role of a rifle. So, i need to buy one. I will preface this by saying, i have several .22's (semi auto and bolt) and a Winchester pre-64 model 94 in 30wsf. I'm not going to go practice with a unfired model 94. I'm also not going to consider it for field use. I have had AR's in the past and i highly respect the platform but I'm not sure it is the right gun for my uses, If you can make a case for it, i am all ears. So, here is what i am looking for. I think the Ruger Scout would fit my needs and i would love any feedback on that particular rife you might have. Qualifications: -caliber that would allow hunting in the southeast -magazine capacity of at least 5 rounds. Detachable is a plus. -Relatively low recoil (i want my wife to be able to handle the rifle if absolutely necessary) -readily available caliber. -effective range of 250 yrds (if i do my part) -suitable for defensive situation (highly unlikely) -configuration that would not likely be effected by future gun regulations (the main reson i am leaning toward a bolt action--did i mention that i just finished reading 'Enemies foreign and domestic) -Price range is ~$800. I can go over a little for the right gun. "buy right once, cry once" Thanks in advance for the help! Ben

I have always been a fan of the 870 until i moved. I now have to navigate stairs and my strategy has changed with the addition of our daughter. I went to a Glock 21 with Tru Glo night sights and a TLR-1. 13 rounds of .45 ACP (Speer gold dot 230 gr.). I find it easier to clear the stairs and some other awkward angles in the new home.

I picked one up a couple weeks ago. It was very lightly used and i gave $279 for it +tax/background.

Standard. But my hands are large so it fits me well

Previously, i always used my Remington 870 for home defense. I figured i would not need to leave the bedroom if the alarm went off. I'd let the bad guy come to me. With the baby coming and the nursery upstairs, i needed a little more mobility than a short barrel (legal) shot gun. So i picked up this glock 21 today. Added night sights, TLR-1 and a couple 13 rounds magazines packed with Gold Dots. In case you've never seen a glock....

Realtor coming today, my house is on the market soon.
Parrothead replied to Wyldk2's topic in General Chat
You might be surprised. If it could be considered a "starter home" it may go pretty quick. In our area, a lot of investors are picking up properties under 100k. We had our starter house go under contract in three days after listing....and it was not listed for less than fair market value.. -
Sounds like the capacitor. You might be surprised how cheap you can get it repaired for at this time. Spring has been very mild. Lots of contractors are hungry and eager for whatever they can get at this point. Try calling the independents first if you are worried about price. I doubt the companies have dropped much.......
