  1. Here are some pics: Notice the plastic magazine With no built in easy loader, unlike a Neos. However, the mag spring seems very weak, and you don't need a thumb assist to load like a Ruger. Notice the simple iron sights and fake grip safety. Yup, it is permanently depressed. No idea what those red dots are for.
  2. Nuts to Loveless. That place is a tourist trap now. If you want delicious Southern fare, Arnolds Country Kitchen on 8th is the best.

I've always been fascinated by the revolving carbine. I read that the older ones developed a bad reputation because they often exploded in the hand, but I'm sure with newer metallurgy and modern smokeless loads, these will be a hoot.
  4. Downtown? You can do anything you want. Depends what she wants to do. During the day there's the Country Music Hall of Fame, Frist Center, Ryman, the Parthenon, the Farmer's Market at Bicentennial Mall...all kinds of tourist stuff. Good shopping/eating areas that the ladies seem to enjoy: Green Hills, 12th Ave. South, Old Franklin, Hillsboro Village...really, the list is endless. The closest areas would be 12th Ave South and Hillsboro Village. They're a bit on the trendy side, so she may or may not really fall in love with those spots. Green Hills Mall is a place you can spend a few days exploring, though. I dunno what they have in Piney Flats, but I'd try to stay away from Opry Mills, Hickory Hollow, and Rivergate areas. Not much out there that you can't find anywhere across the state. And if you want to get your shooting needs in I suggest Guns and Leather. About 25-30 minutes north from Downtown, but well worth it.
  5. A few weeks ago my netbook got hit with some Mal-Ware. It was the Antivirus 2010 bug, which makes your computer act like it has a virus and if you download this one program, it'll fix all your problem. Well, the program itself is a virus. I found this out from doing a quick google search. I also found the appropriate program to kill all running processes (rkill.com) and then I ran Malware Bytes. This killed it, and I haven't had an issue since. Enter my desktop, which also got the infection a couple of weeks ago. I did the same rigamarole and even added a couple of complete scans by Avast! but it's come back three times now. Just randomly. Like just now, at 3:50 AM in the morning. Am I just getting it again from surfing (are sites like BBC and Google regularly compromised?), or did I get a particularly deadly strain of the virus that requires a little more elbow grease and know-how to kill? Any help will be appreciated.
  6. You and I should eat together sometime. I am 100% with you on Stoney River on West End. I took a friend there one night, and it was absolutely disastrous. The place was empty, but they chose to seat us by the kitchen entrance/bar serving area? We had to struggle to hold a conversation over kitchen staff and the THUMP of the kitchen doors opening and closing. They also managed to drop a tray of glasses AND have a water leak near our table. I had to walk through a puddle of water to leave. Add to that my wretchedly over-cooked Prime Rib and super sweet rolls and I was done with the place. Really great for a $80 dinner. I would have rather eaten at McDonald's and ordered 40 Big Mac's. However, I have another gift certificate to the place, so I'll be sure to check out the Cool Spring's location. Perhaps it is much better.
  7. Pranzo? I've been there. I thought it was mostly a take-out/lunch spot, though. Taste was only OK. Reminded me of a Pizza Perfect with fancier entrees. I will give them high marks for lots of food for a low price.
  8. Whole, roasted on a spit. Stuff with bacon and baste with butter.
  9. Let's not forget that you are responsible for every bullet that is fired by you. So...I hope you're not trying to spray someone with a LCP in a crowded shopping mall. The LCP is capable of accuracy, it's just up to you to learn to use it.
  10. My one experience with Bucca de Peppo left me rather nonplussed. They tried to serve us with dirty plates? They brought us the family style courses, got those all set up, and then handed us a stack of dishes to serve ourselves and then left. The dish on top was clean. All of the others were not. Now, I'm a little fussy when it comes to what I eat off of, but I generally don't send plates or utensils back with minor water stains or even very small food stains. If it looks like it's been through the dishwasher, I'm OK with it. These plates, however, were absolutely filthy. A couple had unidentifiable juices pooled on the bottom, just disgusting. Not sure how it happened, but it did. What really took the cake was how unapologetic the manager was. Took 5 minutes to replace the plates, and the staff tried to act like it was no big deal. Sorry, but being served dirty dishes sort of ruins my appetite, because obviously your kitchen is not running right. And so long as we're on the subject of Thai, any of you guys remember Salathai? I was so sad when they closed down to make way for the current crop of crap on West End: Jason's Deli, Five Guy's, Jack in the Box. I don't know about Jasmine (I will definitely check it out), but if you want authentic Thai on a budget, Thai Kitchen is the place to go. They serve american stayle Thai, but if you say Thai Style Basil Chicken instead of just Basil Chicken, for instance, you get a blazingly hot, delicious and authentic meal. And a fried egg on top, because apparently that's the way Thais do it. All for about 5 bucks, sometimes under, depending on what you order.
  11. Use the darkness to run away like a ninja while praying the other guy didn't spring for night sights either
  12. I'd rather go to Olive Garden than Maggiano's. It really depends on your definition of mid priced. I'd say that is under 20 a head, but that's just me. Yellow Porch is excellent and quite romantic. Sonobana is less romantic but the best deal in town when it comes to quality Japanese food that is fairly priced. Sole Mio is pretty decent Italian as is Finezza. The former is probably more romantic. Please don't take your wife to some lame chain restaurant for a romantic dinner. There is so much better out there, and at great prices. Nashville Originals - Independent, locally-owned restaurants You may want to check out that site. I can vouch for mambu, caffe nonna, tayst, and a few others. Some are very pricey while others are more hangouts than nice places to take someone for dinner.
  13. Nice! I really like those S&W Autos
  14. Very cool. My friend bought Tech Sights for his Marlin that cost almost as much as the rifle did and I thought he was nuts. You sir, take the cake We want to see perforated targets!
  15. If you can find a full size CZ-75B, you're pretty much holding a EAA Witness. I shot a regular (not Elite Match) .40 Witness side by side with a CZ-75 SP-01 Phantom, and while they weren't the same weight or size, the grip angle and feel were identical. G&L also has the occasional used Witness.
  16. IMHO, doing that will defeat the purpose of the LCP. It's designed as a snag free pocket gun, and the sights are rounded and low profile for that reason. The LCP is also not a target gun. When I had one, I was content to hit center mass up to 20m away with some front post shooting. If you really really really want to do SOMETHING, you can paint the front post orange or white or whatever suits your fancy. I hate doing that, but some people like it. There are also little glow in the dark stickers you can buy that will go on your front and rear sights like regular 3-dot sights.
  17. I went by Guns and Leather today and ended up with a Chiappa "Puma" 1911-22 (Thanks Ben!). Promptly took it downstairs and ran around 200 rounds of junk ammo through. By junk, I mean JUNK: a mix of Remington Golden Bullets, Federal 550, Yellow Jackets, Winchester HV, etc .22 rounds that had settled together in the bottom of my ammo bag. Most of it was a year or two old. Reliability was pretty good. It wasn't rock solid like my old Cadet, but neither was it a jam-o-matic like my old Mosquito. Using the dirty crap ammo that I had, the pistol only had a handful of failures. Like maybe 4. And I suspect that it had a lot to do with my loading of the magazine and the fact that I didn't clean or lube the pistol before using. I'm a bit rusty in the pistol shooting department, so I cannot speak to the match grade accuracy purported by gunblast, but shooting this pistol was very much like shooting my old SA 1911 Mil-Spec. The kick wasn't there, but the simple sights, grip angle and heavier single action trigger make this a great trainer for the real thing. Fit and finish is just OK. It isn't a Wilson Combat, so don't get one expecting that. Grip safety isn't functional, but the thumb safety and slide release are. The pistol is single action, and the trigger is surprisingly stiff. Gunblast says it's around 7 and a half pounds, and my finger-sensor says mine is about the same. Not great for target shooting, but in theory, it should help your real world shooting. It's a bit like practicing with donuts on your bat: that way, when you're doing the real thing, it feels feather light. Biggest con: the front sight is fixed, and must be *filed down* by the user to adjust for drop. It's shipped from the factory shooting 2-4" low at 25 yards. The instructions suggest rebluing after filing. I guess if it means getting the pistol in my hands at a lower price, that's alright with me. Kind of ghetto, though. And it is very cheap. Only 289 + tax from the good folks at Guns and Leather. Really a steal. All in all, I'm rather pleased with my purchase. I forsee more magazines in my future. I'm going to keep the trigger heavy to improve my general shooting skills. If you're in the market for a .22, I'd strongly suggest this one if you're into 1911's at all. Pics available in a bit.
  18. One theory he said was what Superman said. The 1st half of my old clutch stroke had no resistance because it wasn't activating the hydraulics. Now that I have a full stroke, it seems to be fine. Drove around yesterday and all day today without any degradation in feel. He also topped off my fluid, so I'll keep a really close eye on it. It's right on the MAX line now. Thanks for the tip also about pre-filled master and slave cylinders. I think I'll definitely do some research on that.
  19. I took it to the shop today. They adjusted some clutch linkage and my clutch feels brand new again. Engagement is right near the top of the stroke, as opposed to near the floordboard. They did say that I should keep an eye on it, and if it starts feeling spongey again, that I definitely need to get a new slave and master cylinder. But I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't need that just yet.
  20. Sure, let me swap out my 2x GTS 250s at 110 each for 2x 5850 at...375 each. Or 2x 5770 for 179 each. Either way, too much stinking money. 2x GTS 250s blows away 1 5770 for only 40 dollars more. I've fallen prey to the confusing pricing and naming schemes adopted by nvidia and ATI, which is exactly what they wanted. My head hurts from all of the various prices and such, so the GTS 250's are set in stone. Hell, I still have to buy a fancy monitor to take advantage of this horsepower. My 19" Acer screen's native resolution is 1280x1024. 2xGTS250's is way overkill for that. And I prefer Nvidia products. I haven't purchase a Radeon since a 9600GT back in the day.
  21. 1900? Duct tape 4 Marlin Guide guns in .44 together for more firepower at a slightly cheaper price.
  22. The GTS 250 is an updated 9800GTX. Two GTS 250's in SLI will outperform a single GTX 285. Barely, but they'll do it. Anyways, the newest game I play is MW2. The next newest would probably be Half Life Source titles. I think I'm really more interested in the processing power of this rig, so I can process photos and videos much much much faster. And possibly while playing games at the same time
  23. Well, I already ordered this stuff and most of it is in UPS's hands at this point. I actually found out that I accidentally ordered a MicroATX Mid-tower case instead of a ATX Mid-tower, so I placed a new order for a case and PSU and I'm going to just refuse the shipment of the other case (that's what the CS guy recommended). 220 AR for a supreme video card setup was just too much to resist. Also, the benchmarks on the SLI GTS 250 config are very promising. I daresay that it will outperform your 285 by a small margin, and 240 shipped is much better than the price of a 285. I also know from past experience that I will not SLI a card after buying just one. I have sat on my 7900 GTO for about 4 years, even though I could have SLI'd it any point.
  24. Back in the day, it was a question between an AMD that kicks out 1 ghz versus an Intel or a Celeron that kicked out that much. Nowadays....i7, i5, i3, Phenom II X4, Athlon II X4, etc etc. What a headache! Made me want to buy a laptop and just forget building my own rig, but the lure of quad core was too much. My current rig is a AMD FX-55 w/ 7900 GTO, and it's very much showing it's age. I can barely play Modern Warfare 2 at the lowest settings and 800x600. So what do you think of my new system? -Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition -2x Nvidia GTS 250 1gb cards (found these for 110 each AR) -MSI Mobo w/ SLI ready northbridge -4gb DDR3 1600mhz RAM -750 GB Seagate SATA HD -600 watt SLI ready PSU -Some funky case All for the low, low price of ~650. I thought about getting a i7, but then you need tri-channel ram, better psu, more expensive mobo...that's in the 1000+ range. The first upgrade, when I get a little free cash, will be a solid state drive, at least 30 GB. Hopefully this rig will last me a few years. It's not DX11 compatible, but I don't really care.
  25. What about AK-74 clones or a Saiga in 5.45x39? 5.45x39 is extremely cheap
