  1. Yep. I work for state govt and every year the Tennessean puts in a FOIA request and updates a database. You can go there and search by name, job title, etc.. and it will bring up the name of the person, what dept they work for, how much they made last year, how much of it was overtime, and other information.Technically as a public employee all that stuff about me is public information. The salary of a given position is also public information. Every year they put this thing in and all it does is stir up a bunch of trouble. It gives stalkers a great tool ("she still works for that dept and makes that much money") too.

    G-19 or XD 9

Personally I prefer the XD (mine's a .45, but to each their own). Both are quite nice. If at all possible try to get some range time with each before you make a choice.
  3. I probably can't make it, but I'm guessing we're pretty close to being neighbors.
  4. Hello all. Frank at ETS told me about this place some time back. I registered and have been reading with the occasional post, but I thought I'd go ahead and say hi officially. Bryan
  5. Last time I was there Specialty Arms in LaVergne kept a supply of WASR's on the shelf. They had fixed, side folding and underfolding models. Don't remember the price off the top of my head. They had a SAR-1 on the used rack, but I snagged that myself. I may have a superfluous WASR soon. Won't know until I have time to take the SAR out and test her.
  6. If you can possibly do so try and fire one first. I tried a PT145 and couldn't hit squat with it. However, the guy who owns it (who also can't hit very well with it) has had no functionality problems with it.
  7. For future reference, the correct spelling is Occam's Razor. That's the razor you keep in the opposite pocket from where you keep your J frame.
  8. Hey. I don't use a vise. Other than that ... yeah I resemble that remark.
  9. Neither! Springfield XD45 (and a SIG P220 I'm probably going to sell one day). That said, I find myself shooting my BHP and GP100 more than either .45.
  10. When I built my lower I used masking tape to help avoid scratches. I used some old small allen wrenches as makeshift pin punches. I used a razor blade to hold the detent and spring in place until I could get the pivot pin inserted. You just have to be creative. While online resources are helpful, I picked up a copy of The AR-15 Complete Assembly Guide. A physical book with step-by-step and pictures is quite handy when you're sitting at the kitchen table. It also makes fine bathroom reading.
