  1. If a decision is made about lunch and Owl Hollow for the 26th, just let us know. I'd like to try to make it this time.
  2. While I prefer the XD to the Glock (and spent my money accordingly) I don't buy the hype about them going off "because someone bumped it when they were holstering it." Bullcrap. Someone wasn't paying attention and pulled the effing trigger with a round in the chamber while they were putting it in or taking it out of the holster.
  3. Yep. I want to see him and the others who vote that way take a pledge that they and their families will never avail themselves of any medical therapies developed through those "immoral" research methodologies. "Yes, we have a cure for Alzheimer's. No, you can't have it."
  4. Brian in Smyrna, welcome from Bryan in Lavergne.
  5. Prostitutes come with free beer now?
  6. FGS is a nice shop, but as has been said they are quite pricey. They probably do quite a bit of business from the Franklin/Brentwood crowd, for whom an extra $80-$100 isn't a big deal. I have yet to check out The Rabbi's store, but I keep promising myself I will. One of these days he's going to post a deal on a nice S&W 17, 18, or 617 and I'm going to have to give in and find the place.
  7. I haven't had the flu this year, but I have had the stomach virus and the respiratory infection that are both going around. Joy of joys I got them consecutively. Just as I was able to eat solid food again and get more than 30 feet from the bathroom I came down with that respiratory crap. I'm done for the year. No more sickness.
  8. There's the key right there. If I were to seriously cut back and say "You're not a hunter, you just like to punch paper for fun and have decent HD options" I could cut out more than a few of my guns. At that point I could drop down to 1 shotgun, 1 HD handgun (probably the GP100), 1 CCW handgun, and leave myself two slots for a.22lr rifle and pistol for plinking. Bye bye to the AR, the AK, the Marlin levergun in .357, the milsurps, the "just because I want'em" handguns, etc...Everyone has a hobby they indulge to a bit of excess. As noted, for some it's cars. For others it's computers. Still others go nuts for home theater. For some of us it's things that go boom. And that's a good thing.
  9. More likely he would claim that they stay locked up or on his person and she doesn't have the key.
  10. I vote for "They're good guns but there are other guns I prefer."
  11. Welcome aboard. My wife was from Paducah. Nice town.
  12. I plead sleepiness for my lack of spatial recognition. When I try to picture it in my head I still go that way though. On my rifle if I want to raise the point of impact I slide the rear sight forward, making it taller. If I want to lower the point of impact I move it back and down. Or am I still thinking backwards this morning? Honestly, for a J Frame I'd just slap a set of Crimson Trace grips on it and not worry about it. In an airweight like that, if you can consistently hit the same point, even 1.5" high, you're a better man than I.
  13. Hmm. I guess I'll go see if the local Wal Mart still has 9mm at the old price. There's a reason the last 3 guns I've acquired have been .22's, and the next one I'm contemplating is as well. Next I suppose I should get into reloading. Ideally I'd like to find someone local I could talk/bribe into showing me the ropes with a basic setup to load .38/.357, .45, and maybe even 9mm.
  14. I think you have that backwards Neero.
  15. I used to have that habit. Then I spent 15 years working for Pepsi in Tennessee. Trust me, that's one habit you break working there.
  16. They're ugly as sin, but for under $200 a 9mm Hi Point Carbine is not a bad choice. The Kel Tec Sub 2000's are also within your price range. I don't think you'll find much of anything in .45acp in your price range. Hi Point has been promising a .45ACP version of their carbine for years, but have never delivered. If they (or Kel Tec) would put out a .45 carbine that takes XD45 mags I'd buy it.
  17. It's an urban legend (never happened), but it's still funny.
  18. I already own most of what I want that might be affected by a new ban. I'm probably going to get another AR lower and build it up though. And I think I'll pick up another AK variant Just Because.
  19. Sounds like a good deal to me. I keep hoping that either Hi Point or Kel Tec will put out a .45ACP carbine that takes XD45 mags. If I saw a 9mm HP carbine for $130 I'd buy it.
  20. I'm not a huge fan of McCain, but being civil and even friendly with someone doesn't mean you agree with them. Case in point - the long standing close personal friendship of Ted Kennedy and Orrin Hatch.
  21. Will there be cake?
  22. Welcome from a fellow La Vergneian. La Vergne-ite?
  23. Have you tried both? It may be that you like the XD enough to pay twice the bucks. Me, I love my XD45. If it magically transformed into an HK overnight I'd sell it, buy another XD45 and spend the profit on ammo.
  24. Hey Frank. Normally I'd be up for this but can't right now.
