    Citizenship Test

I missed one and that was because I misread the question. I missed the second one about what year the Constitution was written.
  2. Oh, it wouldn't stop me if that was what I had to use. It's just that before I reached for that I'd grab the GP100, the XD45, or the 12 gage.
  3. Indeed. This is how I found out that my Browning Hi Power is one character off (an N vs a Z) from one that has been reported as stolen. For that reason (among others) that pistol is now relegated to "range toy" status. If I'm ever involved in an SD shooting I don't want a misread digit adding to the fun.
  4. Very nice rifle. I keep thinking about buying more uppers for my bone-stock home-build 20" A2. But hell, I can't afford to shoot the one I have. Woe is me!
  5. I may check it out this afternoon/evening. Gotta take care of a few things today first. If not, then maybe tomorrow.
  6. It's quite possible that they believe filling out the form 4473 constitutes "registration in their name." In which case they are not lying to you but are merely uninformed.
  7. I'm tempted to celebrate by going out and buying a gun. But since I'm getting my driveway concreted today and paying off my mortgage next Tuesday I think I'll just pick up some ammo and head to the range this weekend.
  8. I see this statement being used against us in the future. The AR-15 design was created for military use. As was the AK-47. For that matter, so was the 1911.
  9. Now we need to wait for some legal eagles on our side to read the whole thing and translate it into English.
  10. Nothing today, but on Scotusblog we find this bit of encouraging news:
  11. The current makeup of the court is 4 (mostly) conservative judges and 4 (mostly) liberal judges, with a single moderate swing vote. You can probably figure out who he is as he is complained about by both liberals and conservatives depending on which way the case decisions go.
  12. I'm pretty sure you have that exactly backwards. The attitude of "They're the bad guys, we should be able to do any damn thing we want, laws be damned!" is the over-emotional response of someone who doesn't want to consider the ramifications of those actions.
  13. While I don't personally know Eddie or his wife, you have my utmost sympathy. Tomorrow (6/13) will be six months to the day since I came home and found my wife had died unexpectedly at the age of 40. Eddie, I won't even begin to try and give you advice, except to tell you for quite a while every day will hurt. That there are others who know what you are going through, and knowing it doesn't help one damn bit. There will be days when you'll be fine, and then the whole thing will jump up and kick you right between the eyeballs. For me it's those days when I forget for a minute and find myself thinking something like "That is so cool, I've gotta show this to Beth when I ..." Take care of yourself. It's all you can do.
  14. I own an 03 Impala and they're nice if boring transportation. Reliable, decent mileage for the size. That said, I'm taking the bus to work these days. Inconvenient, but trading a 40 mile commute for a 6 mile commute makes a huge difference.
  15. I think he's in Alaska. Oh, and welcome to the board.

    Refurbished AR-15

I have an AR I built on a stripped receiver labeled Century Arms. I also own two different AK's (WASR-10 and SAR-1) that came via Century. All three function just fine, but I've heard enough horror stories about them that anything with their name on it is given a very careful inspection.
  17. That's what books are made for. Time spent waiting is time spent reading.
  18. I call my XD45 "reliable."
  19. On the one hand I deplore burning books. On the other, they're burning their own property. The story doesn't mention them confiscating them, so the presumption is they acquired them legitimately for the purpose of burning them. Oh, wait. They're releasing more carbon into the atmosphere. Damn them and their global warming!
  20. I might just buy another one if they did that.
  21. The first rifle I bought was a Marlin 1894C .357 magnum. A sweet little shooter. I know of at least 3 people who went out and bought one just like it after they tried mine.

    .22 Conversions

I've always been advised that if you want a Ciener kit you should buy it through a 3rd party vendor such as Midway. Let them deal with the customer service headaches. This has been a limitation for me as I've been looking for a Ciener kit for my Hi Power. I finally found someone who carries the HP Ciener kit, and as soon as they get it back in stock I plan to order one.
  23. I disagree with his political views, but he and his family have my sympathies. No one should have to go through that.

    GSG-5

I have yet to lay eyes on one of these, but if I get one I'll definitely have to get it SBR'ed and threaded for an eventual suppressor. Let us all know how she shoots.
  25. Interesting, but ... meh. I'll keep my current XD45.
