  1. No kidding. I was tempted to run home and bring my WASR-10 back and walk around with a $600 tag on it to see if anyone would bite.
  2. I saw one thing I was actually interested in buying, and it was waaaay overpriced. As for everything else. I saw $750 WASR-10's. $500 Yugo SKS'. Oh. My. God.
  3. I'll be there this afternoon. Look for a fat guy with a beard wearing a black leather jacket. I know, there's such a shortage of that type at gun shows. Oh, if you can see the shirt under the jacket it's a formerly red button down that's faded to a nice shade of pink.
  4. There's an Aussie company, AIA who manufacture(d?) new bolt action rifles based on the Lee Enfield No.4 series. They had one chambered in .308, but they also made one chambered in 7.62x39 which took standard AK magazines. There have been at least two companies who tried to import them, but I don't know if anybody currently is doing so.
  5. It's not even the first gay superhero. There have been several. The first I remember being explicitly described as gay was Northstar in the Marvel title Alpha Flight. That was back in the late 80's, early 90's.
  6. Almost as if all of this has already been decided behind closed doors and the voting is merely a formality. Naaaaah.
  7. That's how mine sits as well.
  8. That, and I'll bet from now on as soon as I feel a bit too much resistance when pushing back I'll stop and check.
  9. Update time. I finally had time to mess with my XD45 again. I started tapping on the rear of the slide with a 16oz rubber mallet. After slowly ramping up the force the slide started moving forward again a bit at a time. I expected to be there a while, slowly moving it forward. Instead, once it actually began to move forward it took maybe 6 more whacks and suddenly the entire slide came right off the front. I'm hoping to get to the range tomorrow to test out the Sub2K I bought from someone on the classifieds here recently. I guess I'll take the XD with me just to be sure all is well. Thanks again for the advice and information.
  10. Thanks once again for the help guys. I probably won't have time to work on this again for a couple of days, but I'll let you know when I finally get it loose. I still feel like a dumbass.
  11. No magazine. At this point I think the problem is that the lever rotated on me, so now I can't do much of anything with it.
  12. I've got it back, but the disassembly lever has popped into the assembled position. Can't move the slide to save my life now. Something tells me I may be tossing some money at Todd@CIS. I don't mind paying for expertise, especially when I've done something stupid. By BryanP
  13. I think it's supposed to be in that position, but it rotated down easily enough. The slide is still completely locked. I suspect it's smith time. Any suggestions? edit: thanks for the link ... reading now
  14. I was sitting at home this evening watching Casino Royale and cleaning my XD45. I have no idea what I did to it. I reassembled it, and when I pushed the slide back it locked up tight as a bank vault. I can't get the slide to budge, forward or backwards. Here's a pic of where it is. Barring a quick and easy fix, can anyone recommend a smith in the Nashville area who I could hand this to with an appropriate amount of cash with the words "Please fix my stupid mistake, and while you're at it show me what the hell I did?"? 15. Not everyone can do that. Based on that logic I can't prove I was born in the US. My "original" birth cert, the one that was physically handed to my parents, is long gone. When I needed a passport I had to contact the county where I was born and get them to send me a copy.
  16. Yep. The same sort of people who think "Maybe that FOX show was right and we didn't really land on the moon."
  17. I felt really old when I turned 36. That was the day I realized I could legally date women half my age. That was a few years back. Two more years and I'll be able to buy them drinks.
  18. Thanks, I'll have to look for a set.
  19. Nice wood grips. Where did you get them?
  20. People who steal for a living.
  21. That already exists. It's called the Internet.
  22. I guess. I know I turned down a great job offer about 10 years back because it would have involved moving to Memphis. Visiting is enough.
  23. Who throws a shoe? Honestly!! [ame] [/ame]
  24. There's a good part of Memphis?

    The worst deal

I saw the $1500 Hi Point. I was kind of hoping the guy typoed and missed the decimal.
