Yeah, it's just the C series that is affected. It's an interesting gun, but between the earlier recall (for things that could be fixed) and now this for the entire C line, I think it may be the death knell for Caracal. I doubt their reputation can be salvaged. A shame really, I always like to see more options.

A better way to do it: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=dhimmitude+obamacare+page+107&l=1 (not trying to be mean - all in good fun) -
Nice. They're a lot of fun. Congrats on your new toy. I haven't taken mine to the range in forever. I should, seeing as it's not much more expensive to shoot than an AR these days.
-
The question is, will you just end up handing your pay back to your employer every week and going home with more toys?

Thanks very much to both of you. TrickyNicky, please do send me the gentleman's information. I'll want to ask him some questions. JHC77, thanks for the info. I don't have time to pop it off tonight, but I'll see about looking at it tomorrow when I get home from work.

So I just got back from stashing all my guns except for my carry gun with a friend who has a big safe with extra room. This is because my safe currently cannot be closed or locked. In 2008 I bought a Sentry GPW1842H. It's not particularly large, (23"x24.5"x59") but it has been adequate to my needs. A while ago I had a hard time getting it to unlock, but I figured I was just fat fingering the combo. It's a dial lock. Anytime I had the problem I would get it open after several failed attempts. I was already planning to find out about replacing the dial with an electronic lock. Today I went to open it, and the lock turned and went *KLUNK*. It wouldn't open. After messing with it some more I finall got it open, but now no matter what I do one of the locking studs won't close properly. Hence my sudden relocation of all but my carry gun. Anyway, my questions: 1) Recommendation for safe repair companies in the Nashville / Murfreesboro area? 2) Assuming the door mechanism can be repaired for a reasonable amount, does anyone know if the lock can be swapped out for an electronic lock on this mode? I've already called Sentry and they don't sell the electronic lock for this safe, despite the manual showing it is available in both dial and electronic combo variants. 3) If the answer to #2 is no/expensive, recommendations for a similarly sized safe, where I can get it, and whether they will deliver up a flight of stairs and remove the old one.

Man shoots friend in the eye, through a wall

This I do not understand. Yes, I know if I'm careful nothing should happen. In reality, people make mistakes or slip at the wrong moment. When I clean a gun I make sure it's unloaded upstairs, then I carry it downstairs and clean it in a room where there isn't so much as a single round of ammunition. But maybe I'm just weird that way. -
Yep, orb weaver. If it's not in an obnoxious location leave her alone. They'll keep your mosquito population down.

Disturbing NM Supreme Court Constitutional Ruling
BryanP replied to midtennchip's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Sorry to burst your bubble, but no. Google stories about Muslim cab drivers refusing to pick up customers who are carrying alcohol. Refusing to provide a service because of their religious beliefs. They've been taken to court and they've lost every time. Here's the first link that popped up when I googled it: http://minnesota.publicradio.org/display/web/2008/09/09/muslim_cabs_court How is this any different from a business refusing to do business with people who choose to be armed? We condemn that all day long around here. -
The only studies that showed any negative effects from either were in amounts ridiculously high, far beyond what anybody would actually ingest. You'd have to irrigate yourself with the stuff.

Rattlesnake bites are rarely fatal. A quick search tells me that out of 7 to 8000 reported rattlesnake bites in the US every year, there are roughly 5 fatalities. That's pretty good odds. The video in the OP shows a Russell's Viper from India. They are rather more deadly.

Dashcams aren't expensive. Honestly, they might be good insurance to have over here as well. I've thought about installing one.

While it isn't currently in production, Ruger used to make a 9mm SP101. They're not cheap, but they are out there.

California Takes Back Legally Purchased Guns
BryanP replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
For those who would rather read this as text, the full transcript can be read here: http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/nation/july-dec13/guns_07-23.html The title of this thread is misleading. It should read "California takes back legally purchased guns from those who are no longer legal to own them. Namely, criminals and the mentally ill." But that's not nearly as exciting to read. -
New they go for what? $400+? Minus for being technically used (unfired is nice, but once it's changed ownership it's considered a used gun). Minus for no box/paperwork. Plus for condition, plus for pre-lock. I'd guess $450-500 if you can find someone who really cares a lot about pre-lock.

How do you hide gun/or accy purchases from the wife or GF?
BryanP replied to Dustbuster's topic in General Chat
I'm another "I don't." I don't spend that kind of $ without talking to her first and she doesn't do so without talking to me about it. If I really want one she'd probably tell me to buy it, but then she always complains that I won't spend money on myself. This is the woman who kicked me out of the house and told me not to come back without a ridiculously large TV. :D -
Okay, let's take away the DL of every diabetic in the US. That's bout 8% of the population. If properly managed, passing out from diabetes is a low probability event. Rather less likely than someone causing a wreck because they're too busy dicking around on their cell phone.

What? These days my lack of a tattoo makes me the different / rebellious one. ;)

Should I take my AR-15 with me to GSMNP?
BryanP replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
The short answer is, I personally wouldn't. That said, I'm thinking of buying a violin case. :D -
Just because she's politically left doesn't make her wrong about this.

If I read on Infowars that the sky was blue and the grass was green I'd step outside and confirm with 3 other sources before I'd repeat it to anyone. Yes, they're that friggin nuts.

Just to give equal time to the ladies: 10 Reasons Why Women Prefer Guns Over Men 1. You can easily trade that snubby in for something with a longer barrel. 2. You can keep a gun clean with a little Hoppe's and some elbow grease. 3. A gun never complains about the fit of its holster. 4. A gun doesn't need to watch a bad Western on video before you take it to the range. 5. Too many rounds and shots over the years don't cause the trigger guard to grow and sag. 6. You can carry a gun in your pants all day without it becoming a pest. 7. A gun doesn't complain if you want to spend more than 15 minutes at the range. 8. Emission of noxious gases is always under your control. 9. A gun doesn't call you a tease after you do a bit of dry fire. 10. A gun doesn't need to take a nap after each shot.

Alleged 2A Heckler Disrupts Anti-Gun Rally; Assaults Police
BryanP replied to gun sane's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Sadly there are enough idiots on both the left and the right that neither side needs to plant. All it takes is one kwik-r-n-youknowwho to make huge numbers of us look bad. -
The book is great. The movie is obviously so different from the book that you can't judge one from the other.
