  1. The general public has no right to know whether or not I have a carry permit. The general public also has no right to know who has what medical procedures. It all comes under the heading of "Nunya damn business."
  2. The BHP is class all the way. I wouldn't buy the digiflage, but to each their own.
  3. Newspaper? How quaint.
  4. That sucks. A few years back I and several other local shooters got together and spent a day cleaning that place up because it had been neglected and vandalized so badly that the state was going to shut it down. When we started the dumpster out front was empty. When we finished it was overflowing. I'm sorry to hear that it's degraded so much since then.
  5. Which forum did you lift this from? I'd like a link to reference it.

    New/Old FEG Hi Power

Thanks for the info Matchguy. At a quick glance it seems I have the same kind of P9M you do. If it functions well and can share magazines with my existing BHP I'm not going to complain too loudly.

    New/Old FEG Hi Power

Ah. I just bought this and haven't taken it to the range yet. It does seem to use BHP mags, and when I open them up they look very similar except for the barrel. Which I find odd.

    New/Old FEG Hi Power

Congrats, those are fun guns. I don't have a PJK 9HP like yours, but I do have an FEG P9M (very similar) in addition to a MKIII BHP. They're not 100% copies of the HP, but there is a lot of interchangeability.
  9. Granted, most guys are a bit nuts too, but if I ever get around to dating again I'm seriously considering an add that says: "Looking for a woman who has no more than two recognizable conditions as outlined in the DSM IV."
  10. I usually go to this one since it's close by, but I won't be able to this weekend. With the renewed AWB rumblings this week I suspect it will be even more outrageous than before.
  11. Getting called multiple times, or never, is just a matter of luck of the draw. Serving on a jury is part of being a citizen. You may never be called, you may be called 10 times. When you're called, you go serve. And yes, I've served on Grand Jury duty. It wasn't that big a deal.
  12. Seeing as I don't believe in the supernatural, going to a church for help would be rather hypocritical of me.
  13. You do pay it back. It's called paying taxes. I've never needed food stamps. Hell, I've never been late on a payment. I do know how easily bad things can happen to screw up a life. I hope that I never need to avail myself of the welfare system, but it's good to know that it's there, and I'm glad it was there when you needed it.
  14. My car is paid for. If something happens and I go on food stamps I should sell it?
  15. You could always carry in a belt pouch or a messenger bag. AKA a man purse.
  16. It's quite possible that this guy bought an Expedition when he had a job, and now he's been laid off and is receiving assistance. Now, when I see someone use their food stamps to pay for groceries, then whip out cash to pay for their beer and cigarettes, that annoys me. If you need my money badly enough then you can damn well do without those little luxuries.
  17. The way I've heard it described, neither of your scenarios describes a straw sale. If I buy a gun and go through the background check knowing I'm going to sell it to person x, that's a straw sale. If I buy a gun and decide I just don't care for it and then sell it to person x, it's not.
  18. Yeah, I know your problem. Do what I do when that sort of problem arries: hire a skinny guy to do it for you.
  19. Or the Nissan plant all of 10 miles from my house.
  20. No. Most would grumble but turn them in. And yes, I mean you, Mr. Cold Dead Hands Chairborne Commando. You'll deny it in this thread, but you'll rationalize it somehow, but you'll do it.
  21. Great report. I was unaware that the Thunder 9 was a P88 clone. Good to know.
  22. Only to the extent that when I built my first AR I dropped it off and had him check it over to make sure I hadn't made any mistakes. That was when he was the resident gunsmith at Specialty Arms in LaVergne. Jeff was always very good about answering my gun-newbie questions. I stopped by SA to drop off my Hi Power for him to work on, and that was the day I found out he moved to G&L. I keep meaning to go up there and see about dropping it off with him there. Maybe this next Monday.
  23. As much a fan of firearms as I am, I wouldn't go straight to that level. As earlier suggested, pepper spray would be a good next option. If I have to shoot then I would want to be able to say "Yes Officer. I called animal control about these dogs. The calls were on date x and date y. I tried to find the owner (no success / no response). I tried pepper spray, and it didn't work. The dog charged me and I felt I had no choice." Bottom line, if I ever have to pull the trigger on anything other than a paper target I want to have as much legal ammo as possible on my side for afterwards.
