  1. Based on various comments sometimes I think I must be the only guy to get good service at Specialty Arms.
  2. David beat me to it. Lots of places seem to sell it: Dovetail to Picatinny/Weaver adapter - Google Search
  3. It's not amusing. Poor dog and poor owner. I may disagree with her on some issues, but not only did her pet die, she knows it was her absent minded negligence that was the cause. That's going to haunt her.
  4. If things go as planned I will be picking one up on Saturday. Looking forward to trying it out.
  5. I have run across the occasional bargain at a gun show, but they are few and far between. The last one in Smyrna the only thing I bought was some jalapeno relish. Fire in the hole!

    MSAR 7.62x39

Cool. So ... How much do they cost? And has anyone played with one enough to find out if they're any good?

    MSAR 7.62x39

Interesting. Looks like an AUG with an interchangeable barrel system. But the only listed dealer is all the way up in Blountville.
  8. Both would be the ideal choice, but if I had to pick between my 1911 and my .357 (Ruger GP100 in my case, but the 66 is a very nice revolver) there's no contest. Get the revolver.
  9. I still don't know why people buy a piece of hardware with a more than 50% failure rate.
  10. Give it time. They do update it.
  11. Nah. He's more of a "Larry Craig hard core right-wing with a wide stance" Republican kind of gay.
  12. I ride an MTA/RTA bus every day. As far as I've been able to find out there are no rules against carry. Not that I can test it since carry is quite specifically prohibited at work ... But hey, I turned a 40 mile commute into a 6 mile commute and I can read during the ride to and from work rather than stress over rush hour.
  13. Here's some appropriate (and very funny) video to help him pass the time.
  14. That's what a USB key with PortableApps is for. Sticking it inside a portable Truecrypt volume is optional.
  15. It's even better if they haven't cleared their cookies. Go to Amazon and do something like this:
  16. Now everyone needs to inundate him with "friendshIp" requests from TGO.
  17. It's purely an accounting decision. One successful lawsuit for injury would cost them more than many thousands of small shoplifted items. And yeah, they have to make sure their employees know that when they're told not to physically intervene they mean it. It sucks, but that's the way it is these days.
  18. The Romanians are good, if lower end, AK's. The mag wobble has no effect on functionality. I know the sight cant was real, but I've never seen it in real life. The Maadi would be an Egyptian AK. No idea about the quality on those.
  19. Hey, nice holster. What is that? I wouldn't mind checking one out for my 638.
  20. Starting with another factory-new magazine is always a good idea. Even if that's not the problem, you've eliminated one possibility and you now have an extra mag.
  21. I got my fingerprinting done yesterday, and now I wait for my HCP to arrive in the mail. I took the class from SafetySouth last month. It was interesting and informative, despite the Infamous Video. I can highly recommend them. The only hiccup I had was when I went to the Driver's License station in Lavergne. They hadn't heard of the change in the law making it so you do not have to list any information about your firearm on the completion certificate. The clerks were quite helpful and pleasant, but iIt was late enough in the afternoon that they couldn't reach anyone to confirm one way or the other. Bo at SafetySouth was kind enough to send me a link to the law in question. When I went back the next day they had already confirmed the situation and took care of the paperwork quickly. I guess I'll be showing up in the Memphis newspaper database before long ...
  22. About six months. It was a POS single-shot .45LC/.410 pistol that I bought from a friend because he really needed money and wouldn't take it as a gift. I played with it for a while Just Because and then sold it.
  23. Yeah, because having cable installers and postal workers report on what they see in their customer's homes would have worked well. It wasn't just "Hey, a bomb." That's naive. It was more like "Hey, this guy has a lot of guns. And a Koran. Better call someone." Which, thanks to the books from a comparative theology course I took, is a category I would fall in to. I have a Koran, sandwiched in between the Talmud, a Christian Bible, the Rig Veda, and various other similar works. I can just see how that would have gone over.
  24. This kind of thing was a bad idea when the Bush administration proposed it, and it's still a bad idea.

    True Blood

I really enjoy the books. I've watched the first season and it was pretty good, but I didn't care for some of the changes.
