  1. If I had to cut my current collection down to 5? 12ga shotgun (Mossberg 590) Browning HP 9mm Marlin 1894C .357 levergun Ruger GP100 .357 revolver S&W 638 .38spl CCW revolver (although if I had to condense I'd probably make more of an effort to replace this with a 649 in .357) But that doesn't work, because I couldn't give up my AK, or my CZ 452, or my AR, or my Ruger 22/45, or my No4.mk1 Enfield, or ...

    Kahr Question

Good to know. I've been looking at pictures but haven't seen one in person yet.

    Kahr Question

I tried a Nemesis and it prints a bit too much. I'm looking at either a Desantis Superfly, or maybe one of the items from Pocket Holsters

    Kahr Question

I own a PM9 which I bought from someone on this forum. So far it has run flawlessly and the recoil is very manageable. It hasn't replaced my S&W 638 for EDC yet, but I suspect that day isn't far off.
  5. The solution to this is the same as restaurants that post: don't spend your money there. Make sure they know you're going elsewhere and why.
  6. Good find. The arthritis in my hands hasn't gotten to the point that I've had to give up my .357 magnum or .45acp shooting, but I do shoot a lot more .38, 9mm and .22lr these days. I may pick up a pair of these to try them out.
  7. Ding ding ding. Yep. I had to explain that to a guy who said he was going to go on vacation to Amsterdam and get blitzed on marijuana since it would be legal. "Legal doesn't protect you. If you test positive on a drug screen HR doesn't care."
  8. Those nice orange shotgun clay targets are good. Spread them out on your backstop hillside. They can start with the big pieces and then try to target the chunks as they get smaller.
  9. I have the same unit for my P220. After a modest break-in period it works really well. For a .22 I don't see the 10 round capacity as being a big deal, but there is a guy who sells aftermarket followers for the factory mags that increase the capacity. I want to say the new capacity becomes around 15.

    .45 carbines?

Under $500 your best bet is to hope that Hi Point gets their .45 carbine out sometime in the relatively near future. Or if you own an appropriate 1911 or Glock .45 you might consider one of the conversion units from Mech Tech.

    .45 carbines?

If you're going to go that high I'd just get a Beretta CX4 Storm carbine in .45ACP.

    .45 carbines?

Hi Point has been promising a .45ACP carbine for years now. At least 2003 as the commenter above said, possibly longer. I'd have to go digging through a forum to find it, but I know I posted an email I received from them at least that far back saying it was coming out Real Soon Now. I've got one of their 9mm carbines and it works quite well. A .45 would be well received I think.
  13. I consider myself an agnostic because calling myself an atheist would imply that I actually cared.

    .45 carbines?

If it were still in production I'd suggest the Marlin Camp .45. As it is, the price of the old used ones continues to climb.
  15. For those who think that an called-in report of reckless driving shouldn't be sufficient cause for pulling someone over, I ask this: How is this different from the a phone call to the police saying "I just saw someone messing with the door at a house 3 doors down, and now they just forced it open and have gone inside." ?

    Post Op Sucks

Ow, ow, ow. That does not sound like fun at all. I think I'd rather take another tumble down the stairs than go through what you're describing. Get well soon.

    Titans

The way the Titans play I don't want to drink beer, I want to shoot heroin.

    PPS, PF-9, or 709

The PPS is the bulkiest of the 3. If that's not an issue for you I'd probably go with it. The Taurus is interesting, but it's a brand new model. I've owned Taurus firearms with no problems, but I don't care who makes it, I'd never buy a gun the first year it's in production. Let someone else work the bugs out. The Kel Tec is not something that will last you forever, but they have an excellent service policy and as you say you can buy two of them for the price of the PPS. That might not be a bad choice.
  19. And that's the kind of thing I need to figure out. I may just block that register over with a piece of wood if that would make the difference and won't harm anything. It's in the back of the closet, after all.
  20. I'm looking at their web site now. Looks like the only Bronze that would fit is the BR16F, which it says is 24x60x19. I'm assuming the 19 is the depth. Is that what you bought? There's a Copper series model that could work too. The C26F is 30w x 60h x 25d. 25" would overhang the register by an inch, even with the baseboard cut out, but I could work around that by replacing the metal register cover with a plastic one and trimming one end down to fit. But they don't list prices and I'd like to have some idea of what I'm looking at. Money is an object.
  21. Looking for suggestions on a safe. This is to go in the back of a walk-in closet, so dimensions are an issue. Height should be no more than about 60", depth should be absolutely no more than 24", and that's with taking a slice out of the baseboard to fit it flush against the wall. 23" if I want to leave the baseboard in place and mount a board on the wall to bolt it to instead of directly to the drywall and studs. A quick search found this one, which seems to meet all my requirements: Stack-on Elite 24 Gun Convertible Gun Safe - Dick's Sporting Goods This would work too if I take the slice out of the baseboard. I should be able to work around that last .2", but the front will overhang a floor register for the AC by a fraction of an inch. Worst case I can slice a bit off the end of the register cover so I can slip it in and out. Sentry®Safe Fire-Resistant 24-Gun Safe with 4-Way Interior - Matte Finish (Choose Delivery & Lock Option) - Dick's Sporting Goods I'm still debating electronic vs mechanical combo locks. I'd be more than willing to talk to one of the vendors here who sell safes as well, I just link those two on Dick's since they actually list prices and dimensions on their web site. Just wanted to pick some brains here.
  22. I've always phrased that as "If you can disengage / deescalate the situation without resorting to shooting, and that includes running if the situation allows, then you should do so." Call me crazy but that's always seemed like pretty good advice.
  23. Locked in the trunk or in the console (unloaded in this case) would seem to be prudent. Me, I'd just join my friends and restrict myself to soda, but then I'm not a big drinker anyway.
  24. Are you kidding? I'm hiring those steps to take out political enemies.
  25. Roll in there wearing a gimp mask, just so you'll feel right at home.
