    Bud's Gunshop

What he said. The only time I will order something is if I absolutely can't find it locally at an even vaguely reasonable price.
  2. Thanks, I'll give that a try.
  3. Actually, I don't have faith that there is or isn't a God or an afterlife. I can honestly say I don't know, don't profess to know, and wouldn't tell another what they should or shouldn't believe. Unfortunately I do have an a tendency to come across as a smartass. Sorry about that.
  4. I have two BC mags that worked fine when my 10/22 was bone stock. After it's been rebuilt it works great with Ruger mags, but the Butler Creek mags are quite a bit more finicky.
  5. Not that I believe in that sort of thing, but I've always thought the height of comedy would be that when we die it turns out that some little tribe in the back of beyond are the only ones who have it right. They'll be standing around saying "Oh, hi there. Yeah, come on in. It's cool, you didn't know about The Great Sambidi, and that's okay." But it doesn't matter, because those bushmen probably wouldn't shop at Best Buy either.
  6. If not, he can join me and the rest of us poor benighted non-Christians in the eternal hot tub that Christians believe we're doomed to find.
  7. My high school had a pretty cool rule - Home Ec and Shop were a combo. You signed up and you had one semester of each. So even those guys who would never sign up for HE because it was "girly stuff" could say "Yeah, I signed up for Shop and they made me do that other stuff too."

    Bad News

Please be careful. An old friend of mine who has never properly cared for his diabetes is in the process of falling apart at the age of 48. He tells me he has maybe 5 years, but from what I'm seeing that's probably on the high side.
  9. He's probably talking about the FLDS, not the more mainstream LDS church (more commonly called Mormons).
  10. Unlikely. I suspect that the .22WMR loses an awful lot of its punch when launched from such a short barrel. This gun strikes me as having two markets. First, range toy, for which no justification is required other than "I want one." Second, high capacity SD pistol for the recoil sensitive.
  11. While we may disagree with the ruling, that's part of the system of checks and balances. The legislature can pass a law. The executive (governor) can veto, and can in turn be over-ridden. The judicial branch reviews a law and determines whether it meets constitutional muster. If it doesn't then the legislative branch gets to start over and try to pass a law that does meet the constitution. That's how the system works.
  12. It's a finding for a State law, not a Davidson County law. Put it this way: I don't think I'll take my chances.
  13. Yep. He's a perfect example of the phrase "Just because someone is on the same side as you doesn't mean he's not a ****ing idiot."
  14. That varies greatly. In TN, for example, if the policy has been in place for 2+ years and nothing illegal was going on (deliberately OD'ing on an illegal drug like Heroin, being one example) then they have to pay, even on suicide.
  15. I've got a .22 conversion for my SIG P220. It's fun, but I spend a lot more time with my 22/45.
  16. They still do layaway. Last I heard the terms are 20% down, and a finance charge of 2% of the outstanding balance each month.
  17. StreetWK05 has it right. If you've already paid your fees at the post office and made the call to the number on the paperwork to confirm you're ready for your fingerprints, just go to a finger printing location. I had mine done at Guns & Leather.
  18. I did. I traded away a couple of Taurus revolvers I don't use anymore and picked up a S&W 649.
  19. PM9 in a Desantis, but looking for a better holster.
  20. I keep meaning to pick up a messenger bag / murse. Not technically for CCW, but it makes CCW easier because I don't have so much other crap in my pockets. Something I can use to carry my netbook, whatever book I'm reading, other odds & ends that inevitably spill out of my pockets and such. Oh, and my lipstick of course.
  21. The gun in question fires 9mm Makarov, also known as 9x18. When most people say "9mm" with no qualifier they are talking about 9mm Parabellum or 9mm Luger (same thing), which is 9x19. You may also see some people refer to .380ACP as 9mm kurz, and it is 9x17. Three different rounds, all of which fire in different guns.
  22. Also, since you don't seem to know much about these guns you should be clear on this: when you say "9mm", this is not 9mm parabellum, which is what most people mean when they say "9mm." 9mm Makarov is a different type of ammunition.
  23. The "Bulg" he mentions in the original markings makes it unlikely that it's a Polish model. Here's a Bulgarian Makarov from another forum post. Note the markings below the safety on this one, and compare them to the same markings below the safety on the original pistol posted at the start of this thread.
  24. Try this.
  25. Based on your description of the markings and the picture I'm going to say that's a Bulgarian Makarov which was imported by PW Arms. You need to find yourself a Makarov mag. Here's a link to an add for a Makarov mag on Gunbroker. I have no idea if that price is normal or stupidly high. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=145167387 Here's a link to someone on Gunbroker selling a Bulgarian Makarov with a spare mag, just so you have something to compare with for identification purposes: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=145274584 Here's a FAQ from Makarov.com that may be of interest to you: http://www.makarov.com/makfaq.html
