  1. First of all, if it can tear through a person it can tear through drywall. Handgun calibers and shotguns won't go through as much as rifle calibers, but there's pretty much nothing that won't go through interior walls. My personal opinion is that the Taurus Judge is a big pile'o gimmick. From what I've heard the recoil isn't particularly mild either. But it's better than a sharp stick. If your wife is particularly recoil sensitive then, subject to HER handling (and ideally firing) the weapon before it's purchased, I would suggest a heavy steel-framed revolver or pistol, a pistol caliber carbine, or a shotgun (either 20ga or 12ga with reduced recoil rounds).
  2. If you can deal with a bit of extra weight, the stainless S&W J frames are much easier to fire than the airweights. I pocket carry a S&W 649 with no problems, but as Bassoneer says, for some people that extra weight doesn't work for pocket carry. When I have to dress in such a way that things need to be a bit more flat and lighter I carry a PM9.

    Kahr

I have a PM9 and it's a great little pocket rocket. I usually carry a S&W 649, but when I need something a little more om the slim and light side the PM9 delivers.
  4. Does your phone do what you want it to do? Good, glad to hear it. So why do you care what someone else uses? If they like their phone, good for them. The only thing worse than rabid fanboism is someone who has to tear others down. (and no, I don't own an iphone or a mac - before I bought an ipod the last Apple product I owned was an Apple //e )
  5. The people who were already living here at the time might beg to differ.
  6. I'd like to be able to show that to someone. Can you link to these twitter posts? I've been using the search function on twitter to try and find it, but all I find are posts by people saying you should go vote in favor of the flag.
  7. "Two novels can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other involves orcs.
  8. I haven't heard anything bad about them from anyone who actually owns one. For the most part the only negative comments have been from the standard "It's a Taurus, so it must be crap" crowd. As for size, the 709 is 6" long. The PF9 is 5.85" long. 0.15" isn't going to to make much of a difference in pocket carry.
  9. Oh, they'll do it. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it turns into a funny story: The LawDog Files: I should be so ashamed of myself.
  10. Drivers licenses probably would fall under public record, yes. TennCare would be protected by HIPAA regulations.

    XDm in .45 ACP

I handled one earlier this week. Nice gun, but I can't see buying one when I already have an XD45. One thing I confirmed: unlike the XD9 and XDM9, the XD45 and XDM45 take the same magazine.
  12. They might be able to use it as the lowest grade stuff, like bunker fuel for ships. I wouldn't hope for much better than that.
  13. Funny, but not a real advertisement, from 1999 or otherwise. Just a joke someone made.
  14. Well damn. I'm listed now. And to answer the original question, no. I use my DL for identification purposes. The rest stays tucked in my wallet until needed.
  15. You are correct sir. Here is a more recent pic of her from the movie "Wild Hogs."
  16. I find her more attractive now. But then I'm 41 and I prefer women my own age range.
  17. Plus another $70 for the sights. And another $20 for the sling and oil bottle if you want one. So $220 altogether. Which pretty much doubles the cost of the 10/22 itself. But then it's not about practicality. And I still want to make one.
  18. I've been keeping an eye open for a deal on a 10/22 to use for one of those kits.
  19. That was one factor. I was looking long and hard at a Ruger LCP, but I kept seeing empty shelves where .380 was supposed to be, and when I did see it the prices were stupidly high. I figured if I was going to have to spend that much extra $ on ammo I'd rather spend it on a PM9 to carry when the 649 is a bit too heavy/bulky.
  20. Gas taxes are used to build and maintain bridges and the federal highway systems.
  21. This is also true of roughly 1/3 of the previous justices on the Supreme Court.
  22. Yes, but most of them have the ability to speak another language as well. I just love the attitude of "I speak good 'ol Ammurrican, I don't needs ta speak no furrinner talk."
  23. Well at least there's one way he's following in the footsteps of the last pres.
