  1. When Ron Paul actually starts to look like a reasonable choice, things have really gotten bad. If the GOP would stop picking candidates from the Island of Misfit Toys maybe we'd have a shot. As it is, I fully expect that whoever the GOP nominates will take Tennessee, but President Obama will get a second term.

    SK-47 Value

Okay, then let's start with the basics of identifying exactly what you have. Again, pictures would help. If you can't do that, then type in a list of all the markings you see on it.

As for value, it's hard to say. You can buy a lower-end AK-47 (the Romanian WASR-10 being a good example) for $450-$500 brand new any day of the week. The SKS-D or -M (if that is what you have) is interesting to some just because it's unusual. I only see one up on gunbroker right now and the guy wants $600 for it as the buy-it-now. With only one example up it's hard to know if that's a reasonable price or not. Me personally I wouldn't give you more than $500 for one. If you have a more conventional SKS it will be worth less. By "Asian" I'm going to guess you mean Chinese? It's possible you have a North Korean model, but less likely. I'd guess you'd get somewhere between $250 and $300 for one, but I honestly haven't kept up with the market on them lately. It would help a lot if you could give us the model #. Pictures, especially including markings (you can black out the serial # if you prefer) would really make it much easier.

Calm down guys. No need to call someone a troll just because he may be confused about AK vs SKS nomenclature. Blade, are you maybe talking about a Norinco SKS-D? This is a very specific Chinese variant of the SKS that takes AK-47 magazines. Example: They also made another AK mag variant, the SKS-M:
  6. Meh. It's a private company making rules in their private game system. Don't like it, don't give them your money.
  7. Just to chime in, I've bought things through both Guns & Leather and Outpost and both treated me quite well. Maybe I have lower standards than some of you.
  8. Excuse me while I whip this out.
  9. I used a Browning Hi Power 9mm. As others have said, the shooting portion is really easy. Personally I'd recommend doing it with either a .22lr or a 9mm just to save on the cost of ammo.
  10. If you're considering a Sigma you might also look at the S&W SD9 or SD4 pistols, which are just a little more $ and basically an improved Sigma. (similar size, I believe they use the same magazines, better trigger)
  11. Realistically? Things have progressively gotten better for gun owners for the past several years. Most Democrats, President Obama included, know that whatever their personal beliefs may be, gun control is a vote-losing issue for them. Republicans know better than to mess with that issue too. Does that mean we should ease up? Oh hell no. Make sure they know we aren't to be ignored or forgotten. Remind them regularly what the AWB vote in '94 cost the Democrats.
  12. Personally I'd go for the 9mm because I don't want to expand to Yet Another Caliber, so it's going to be either the 9mm or the .45. I already own a full sized XD45, so I'd either go for the full sized 9mm or the compact one. Depends on how the compact feels in my hand. Okay, right now I wouldn't get either, but that's because I'm going to be paying college tuition for one daughter for the next 4 years, and as soon as she graduates the next one will start her freshman year, so barring trades what I have is what I have.
  13. Looks like that worthless sack of excrement managed to off himself. Too bad he didn't do it before he killed someone else. U.S. News - Body found; likely man sought in killing of Rainier ranger

    Ruger SR22

At least the slide is made of black anodized aluminum instead of zinc. I don't have plans to buy one anytime soon, but I'd take one of these over a P22 for that reason alone.
  15. Oddly enough people are more adamant that Something Should Be Done about things that have directly affected them or people they care about. Me personally, I do not ever indulge in alcohol if I'm going to have to drive. No, not even one beer. Maybe because of that I think we're far too lenient on drunks. As far as I'm concerned, if you kill someone and you're over the legal limit you should forfeit everything you own to the victims and then be thrown in jail for a very long time, and that only because I figure nobody will go for execution. That said, I won't restrict your ability to drink. You can do that all you want as long as you don't hurt someone else. Just like owning/shooting guns. You have every right to do that, but if you abuse it and harm someone else then you should get slammed down hard. Your "god given rights" where they affect someone else.
  16. Yeah, that worked really well the last time we tried it.
  17. My first real summer job in a warehouse at 14. I knew I wanted to do something that was in air conditioning. I saved the $ from that job and bought my first computer, an Apple ][+.
  18. I got married in Key West. Fun place. And no, I didn't get drunk while I was there. Lots of interesting touristy stuff to check out. The night life is a bit ... out there. We were driving through town and we had this exchange: Wife: "Ooh, a leather goods shop! I wonder if they have purses?!?" Oldest stepdaughter: "Mommy, there are NO PURSES in that store!"
  19. Looks like the Droid 4 will basically be a Droid RAZR with a slider keyboard. I'm still on a Droid 2, and by the time I get around to upgrading they'll probably have the D5 out.
  20. Jeez, I was just there on Friday fondling toys and trading jokes with the guys there. I've bought many a gun there and they're a good bunch of people. I hope they get whoever did this and soon.
  21. I'd love to get some range time with an LCR. If it's as controllable as my all-steel 649 (I sold my airweight 638 because it beat the crap out of my hands) then I might look at getting one, but there's no way I'll buy one without trying one out first.
  22. Ralph Nader was unelectable but if he hadn't run Gore would have beat Bush in Florida and that would have made the difference. Nader should be on the Bush family Christmas card list from now until doomsday.

  24. Like this?
  25. So a comment in a blog from someone other than the person who was supposedly deleted is the only documentation available. . M'kay.
