  1. Has anybody had a chance to play with one of these? http://www.czechpoint-usa.com/products/revolvers/9-mm-luger/czechpoint-9231-9mm-para/
  2. There is nothing wrong with selling firearms that have different safety mechanisms. If you want one with a mag disconnect safety or a loaded chamber indicator or a grip safety then you should be able to buy one, but I don't see a reason to make it mandatory. Me, I carry a revolver. I never wonder if there's a round in the chamber and the only safety is the heavy DA trigger + the one between my ears.
  3. Heh. I thought that guy sounded familiar. He has a number of fun videos. His "how to choose a ccw gun" is loads of fun.
  4. You might want to go ask around like rugerforum.com
  5. I saw your post about that over on TFL. Congrats on your new toy.
  6. I'm not sure what that has to do with my comment as it had nothing to do with Obama, but the short answer is "no", and "yeah, a lot of gullible birther twits buy into that theory" respectively.
  7. Meh. The realistic view is that no vote in the primary or the presidential election matters here. We will have little or no influence on who gets the GOP nomination, and whoever wins the GOP nomination will win Tennessee in the general election. I'll be paying closer attention to other races.
  8. As someone who has been reading the comics for a long time it's interesting how they've taken the story in very different directions. Characters who are still alive in the comic have been killed off, and characters who died early on in the comic story are still walking around. It appears they're using the comic storyline as a general guideline, but definitely not in the details. If the show lasts long enough I'll be interested in seeing how they handle the prison and the Governor storylines.

    M&P15 Sport

Interesting writeup Dolomite, thanks. If I were in the market for an AR I'd have to give it a look. As it is, I'll stick with what I've got, but I'll remember this for recommending new shooters.
  10. I'm sure they'll come up with some regulation that keeps it out of civilian hands. Initially it will be cost prohibitive. Later they'll classify them as Destructive Devices or some such.
  11. Here ya go:
  12. Mine is rather smaller than yours, but I had it delivered and put in by the people who sold it to me. Worth the money. When I moved I had 2 Men & A Truck move the safe along with everything else. Again, worth the money.
  13. Well now that you've started this little experiment you need to continue and give us the results of some Brown Bear, Silver Bear, Tula etc... I'd offer some up, but I don't have any. I do have a case of Wolf on the shelf.
  14. I've noticed that behavior in people who are extremely liberal or conservative. They let their idealism run roughshod over pesky things like "facts." If the facts don't agree with their beliefs they go looking for new facts. Sing it with me. "Moonbats to the left of me, wingnuts to the right, here I am stuck in the middle again ..."
  15. Some people aren't happy unless they're tearing down someone else's taste in <insert item of personal taste here>. Whether it's books, music, cars, guns, movies, whatever. They just can't stand the idea that someone else is happy with what they have if it isn't what they think is The Perfection They Love.
  16. His being a senator is irrelevant. He deserves the same consideration anybody else gets, no more, no less. Edit: Oh hey, my 1000th post. It only took me 4 & 1/2 years.
  17. I've heard nothing but good things about them. If I didn't already have a S&W 649 .357 and a S&W 63 .22lr I'd be tempted to get a set like yours.

    New XDS

Very cool. Overall it's actually tiny bit smaller (although heavier) than my S&W 649. I don't see myself switching out for it, but I hope they have a successful product here.
  19. Wow. I'm pretty firmly in the camp of "Hey, it's your gun. Do whatever the hell you want to it." But damn, that's a big pile of fugly.
  20. You could certainly do worse. As I said, I've owned two Century AK's, a WASR-10 (since sold), and a SAR-1 (older model, and now residing in my safe). Neither of them has ever given me a bit of trouble. Yes, I've heard of people who have had problems with Century builds, but I'm pretty sure they are a very vocal minority. That said, if you have the opportunity and the ability to spend a few extra $, sure, then move up a notch. I notice you mentioned the Tula. That's the one I was looking at on their site while browsing. Very pretty. If I found a great deal on one I might be tempted to trade up.
  21. Actually, if you follow that link that midtennchip just posted and click up a level you'll see a ton of AK's, including several underfolders. A Century Arms Romanian wasr-10 underfolder for $489, and a Century Arms Polish underfolder for $529. Based on that, I'd guess the value of a Century Yugo underfolder to be in the $500-$525 range assuming it's in really good shape.
  22. I've heard about Century problems. Me, I've owned 2 Century AK's and both functioned with no problems at all. Go figure. Personally, I wouldn't go over $600 for the Yugo, and that only if you really must have an underfolder.

    SK-47 Value

You can read a lot more about the SKS here: SKS - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia As bkelm18 said, depending on condition it's probably worth somewhere between $200 and $400.
  24. Good range report.
