  1. So TN chose Santorum. Ironically enough for us old-time Science Fiction readers, 2012 is the year Nehemiah Scudder was elected. http://en.wikipedia....If_This_Goes_On
  2. Hate to say it, but Reagan would be denounced as too left wing for todays Republican party.
  3. Interesting question. I searched up the user account of one particularly well remembered banned person. His account is still in there and it says "banned", but when I searched for past posts by him they seem to be gone now so I can't see how it looks in the forum itself.
  4. Welcome from another Smyrna resident.
  5. This. I don't carry without something over the trigger. For carry, a good holster is an integral part of the package. Anything else is just being stupid.
  6. Sounds like a S&W .38 Safety Hammerless. .38 S&W or .38 Special? http://en.wikipedia...._Lemon_Squeezer
  7. I carry a 28 lumen single AAA Streamlight Microstream in my pocket that covers 99% of my day to day flashlight use. http://www.streamlight.com/product/product.aspx?pid=144 I keep a NuFlare Rebel 90 in my murse. 90 lumens, runs on a pare of 123's. That covers the "I really need a lot more light" moments. If something happens to it I may try out one of those Coleman's linked above. http://www.amazon.com/Nu-Flare-Ultrabright-Tactical-Luxeon-Flashlight/dp/B002CZ0UO2
  8. So does the heart condition he was known to have. Just sayin'
  9. I'm sitting here thinking of when I bought my first AR mags back in 2000, dead in the middle of the ban. Two very used USGI 30 round mags that had been stripped, coated and new followers put in for $50, and that was the best deal I found. Yeesh.
  10. Whereas I'm wondering if the people who felt the need to make up lies about his religious faith may be making up other things ...
  11. One minor problem: despite all the misquoted reports, the judge is not a muslim. http://volokh.com/2012/02/25/zombie-mohammed-judge-responds/
  12. Thanks guys, much appreciated.
  13. jkintn, this is going to be a really bad week for me, I was hoping to get in touch with someone like you and schedule something a bit further out. I'll definitely PM you and see if we can arrange a time to meet up.
  14. Usually I see a bunch of glocks for rental, but I guess I could call a few and find out. Or I might get a hit here.
  15. Edit: I screwed up the subject. The guns I want to try out are the Ruger LC9, LCP, and Smith M&P9C. I have no idea where to post this or what the reaction would be. I'd like to get some range time in with a few guns I'd be interested in BEFORE buying one. I'll supply ammo and/or bring any of my guns you'd like to try shooting. I'd like to stay reasonably close to the Nashville area. The closest firing range for me is the TWRA range on Hobson Pike. Firearms I could bring for you to try would be: (I'm not schlepping them all mind you ) .357 Magnum S&W 649 Ruger SP101 3" Ruger GP100 4" Marlin 1894C .22LR S&W 63 4" S&W 617 6" Ruger 22/45 Ruger 10/22 (customised) CZ 452 9mm Browning Hi Power Hungarian Hi Power almost-a-clone (uses same mags, looks like a Hi Power, internal differences) Kahr PM9 Hi Point 995TS 45ACP Springfield XD45 RIA 1911 Tactical 7.62x39 Romanian SAR-1 AK 5.56/.223 Home built AR. flat top 16" with Eotech or A2 20" upper .303 Lee Enfield No4Mk#1 12ga Mossberg 590A1

    HiPoint Carbine

I have a 995TS and as others have said, it's a fun little gun to shoot. I previously had a 995 which I sold to a friend. Never had a bit of trouble out of either one. I haven't used it for anything but cheap FMJ, not sure how it would handle hollowpoints.
  17. I own one of those "crappy' Romanian's. I have a SAR-1 (the predecessor to the WASR's), and I've owned a WASR as well. Let's see ... Boringly reliable? Check. Accurate? Moreso than me, at any rate. It keeps putting the bullets where I aim them. Attractive? Looks like a wood stocked AK to me. I'm not sure what else it's supposed to be.
  18. As another fan of both the comic and the show, it's interesting to see the divergence. They're obviously using the storylines from the comic as a broad outline of where to take things, but that's about it. I wonder if they'll have the budget to do the prison storyline?
  19. So far I've only seen them dead on the side of the road. If they get in my back yard I have problems since I have two dogs. One is a blind pug and the other dog have been able to fight one in his younger days, but he's way too old for that sort of thing now.
  20. I'd like to review the security camera footage. Doesn't Wal Mart have cameras pointed at all their registers?
  21. I'm reminded of this exchange: "A real man would never wear a pink shirt." "A real man wears any thing he dang well pleases."
  22. I carry one of these. You'd be surprised how much useful crap I can get in it. http://www.target.com/p/SwissGear-Vertical-Travel-Bag-Black-Grey/-/A-11149392

    M60 or LCR

"A model 60 with a shroud"?? That sounds like what I carry, a S&W 649. The big difference between the 649 and the LCR is weight. The Smith is 23oz empty, the Ruger 17.1oz. At a quick glance the Smith will probably run you about $150 more than the Ruger,. I haven't heard anything bad about the LCR series but haven't tried firing one myself. I have no problem pocket carrying a 649, but the extra weight may make a difference for you. The extra weight makes firing 38+P and .357 much less punishing, but drags on the pocket more. As someone with arthritis I'm willing to allow for the extra weight. It makes a big difference for me. If you want lighter and don't need/want the extra weight, that $150 could be put towards a set of laser grips, which IMO are the second best thing you can do for a small ccw gun like a j-frame revolver. (#1 is buy a case of ammo and practice with it a lot) My recommendation is that if you can arrange to do so, try shooting an example of each. I'd offer to let you shoot my 649 but we're not exactly neighbors.
  24. Yep. I'd much rather be 28 again like A10Thunderbolt. I'll trade someone all my revolvers for that right now.
  25. I don't see any response required than "because I wanna", but just for the record I already own three .357 magnum revolvers and a .357 levergun. The 18" Marlin 1894C, 4" Ruger GP100, 3" Ruger SP101 and 2" S&W 649 pretty much fill my needs. That said, I ran across this by way of one of Oleg Volk's photos and was curious as to whether anyone has real experience with it. Honestly, I probably won't buy one. I've got plenty of things taking up my "extra" $ these days and most of my gun itches are scratched. But hey, ya never know.
