Pocket gun: what I carry now, a S&W 649. I might settle for a 640. That only leaves about $450, so I'd probably pick up a used AK in 7.62x39.

I have a Mk II generation 22/45 and it's one of those guns that goes to the range every single time. It's a great gun for instructing new shooters.

I'm just curious if you'd be quite so supportive if his name was Mohammed Sharif and he was talking about cutting off the heads of infidels at the local mall? I suspect a few of the people who are crying big brother would be singing a different tune.

If the email address doesn't work, try substituting @tn.gov for @state.tn.us. The state has been transitioning away from the old @state.tn.us domain for a while now.

The founder and owner, Justin Moon, is the son of the head of The Unification Church (aka the Moonies). From what I can find, the church and the company have no official ties beyond the owner being a member of the church. On an earlier topic, I hadn't heard about Springfield's customer service issues. I've only owned one of their guns, an XD-45, which always worked great right up until the day I traded it away. My Kahr is picky about what hollow points it likes, but is otherwise a really nice pistol.

Conversely, that same sort of thing got you President Bush instead of President Gore in 2000. I'm betting the RNC sends Ralph Nader a fruit basket every year.

Did they not address the problem? Or do you write off an entire company because of a single lemon in a product line?

The polymers being used for guns these days will last longer than you ever will too. I know it's a pistol, not an AR lower, but go read about the end of this endurance test for a Gen4 Glock 17: http://pistol-training.com/archives/6885 Here's your money quote: It is also notable that the steel slide wore out before the polymer frame, which were once thought to be too fragile.

Reading the article it sounds like they didn't blow off the Catholic church, they told one specific Cardinal "Thank you, but we've already made arrangements to have another high ranking Catholic official do this for us." I really don't see what the big deal is.

WARNER BROS. REMOVING CONFEDERATE FLAG FROM ‘DUKES OF HAZZARD’ CAR

This. And I still can't believe people are getting all butthurt about the merchandising decisions for a third rate tv series. Are we going to argue about who shot JR next? -

Here's an interesting post on the subject: http://wethearmed.co...this-happening/ Scroll down through the thread and find posts by Musashi. Particularly this one: And this: -
'Slightly' doesn't even begin to cover it. The manufacturers can't keep up. Hell, Ruger just cranked out their one millionth* gun for the year. In August. Last year it took them until the end of the year to get to that number. And prior to that they had never reached that number in a single year. The ammo shortages aren't because of .gov purchases, it's us plus all the other new gun owners out there. *http://www.thefirear...well-this-year/

Before making up my mind I'd have to read the actual posts, not an abstract of them as described by him and his supporters. The Secret Service doesn't show up on your doorstep for saying govt officials should be arrested. -
Oh wow. I gotta have one of these.

This. This is how I browse everything, including "safe" places like TGO. NoScript is kind of annoying until you get used to figuring out what you need to allow on various sites to make them functional. It's also very informative to see just what some sites are pushing at you. By the way, you can also get similar functionality for Chrome if that's your preference. One person I know refuses to use safe browsing habits and won't use things like NoScript either. He insists on Windows. My solution for him was a Lenovo laptop with a separate restore partition that you boot into with a a separate power button on the laptop. He stores all his files on an external drive, which I also set up with a bunch of apps from PortableApps. That way he just restores to a clean Win7 machine whenever he feels the need without losing anything.

When I was looking for a compact G19'ish sized 9mm I made a spreadsheet listing a bunch of different guns. I don't have the #'s for the XD(m) 9mm handy, but here are the numbers for all the other guns listed in this thread. If you remove the service sized M&P9 from the mix, you'll see that the difference in size is pretty negligible for all 3. 0.15" variance in length, 0.7" in height, 0.09" in width, and 2.4oz in weight. Even the full sized M&P9 is only 0.78" longer than the G19 and 0.5" taller. I eventually went with the first one I found a decent deal on (a Ruger SR9C) and have been quite pleased with it, but I suspect I'd have been pretty happy with any of them.

This is the reason I won't buy a new gun the first couple of years it's out, no matter who makes it. But thank you guys for jumping on that new model grenade for the rest of us.

I won a raffle for a Walther G22 .22lr carbine. I don't know whether it was me or the gun but I couldn't shoot it worth a damn, so I ended up trading it towards something else later on.
