  1. If this is a joke it's funny. If you actually did this ... God have mercy on your soul.
  2. The inaccuracies I can deal with, but the show just generally insults my intelligence. They feel the need to over-explain and tell you the patently obvious. My wife and I watched 2 episodes and we both agreed that we're done with it. If we hear that the show dramatically improves later then maybe we'll give it another shot, but for now there's far better shows competing for my time.
  3. So you pick up a couple boxes of Critical Defense to actually use in your carry gun, and a few more boxes of the less expensive Zombie Max for practice / function test. Problem solved.
  4. Hard core alcoholics who have damaged their esophagus and stomach will use this method to get drunk. The big problem is that it bypasses the stomach, and therefore bypasses the your automatic defense against OD'ing on alcohol: puking it up.
  5. Yep, ZombieMax and Critical Defense are the same ammo from everything I've heard. I picked up a box of the 9mm at Specialty Arms in La Vergne to try in my PM9. It was $4 cheaper a box than the Critical Defense, so I really can't pass it up at that price.
  6. If a private organization 1 has a better marketing campaign and can whip up more support for their cause than private organization 2, that doesn't say anything negative to me about PO1, it just means PO2 needs to do better work.
  7. Just got mine. And this paragraph of Bovine Scatology at your link tells me everything I need to know about the level of education and gullibility involved:
  8. I don't see the problem. If the owners don't like it they are free to replace the refs with new employees. Oh, wait. They tried that. They couldn't recruit equivalent talent. If you want the best qualified to do a job you're going to pay for it.
  9. Incorrect. Absolute statements are almost never accurate. http://pediatrics.aa...5.full.pdf html Alcohol is a CNS depressant and can kill you quite easily if overused. It is accurate to say that it would be exceedingly difficult to overdose on THC, but everything has an LD50 dose. THC is not physically addictive, true enough. Psychological addiction is something else, and if you've ever dealt with addiction in others you'd know that's every bit as important. Most physically addictive substances are out of your system and you're completely through withdrawal from the physical addiction in a matter of weeks at most, yet most addicts relapse. As mind altering substances go it's probably one of the more benign ones out there. I fall on the side of "legalize it, tax it and let things sort out", but don't try to pretend it's completely harmless either. Marijuana is every bit as bad (or worse) than tobacco when it comes to the cancer-causing substances it puts in your system, for example.
  10. His October Surprise is "Wow, you guys nominated this guy? And you expect him to win? You're funny."
  11. Thanks for posting this. Interesting viewing and filed away for future reference.
  12. I can forgive the black powder. You figure if they can't make more ammunition components, making your own black powder is something many people can learn to do. Or the asthma inhaler? Even if the medications are good, the propellant would have long leaked out by then. Or all of the 15+ year old clothes that are in pristine condition? Oh, and apparently The Apocalypse genetically selected for attractiveness.
  13. The one with his head on the pancakes cracks me up.
  14. The classic reasons to rule a suicide as an accident "while he was cleaning his gun" are to save the family the embarrassment. (it used to be considered quite shameful) and to allow the family to collect life insurance. Nowadays in most states (including Tennessee) as long as the insurance policy has been in place for 2+ years, the policy pays off in case of suicide too. This was not always the case.
  15. OIder? You can still buy the model 637 or the 638 brand new all day long.
  16. I've bought and sold various things on Craigslist and TGO with no problems. As already mentioned, the key is to meet in well lit, public areas. I absolutely will not meet up with someone after dark.
  17. This would be the same Chik-Fil-A that just did an about-face on their giving $ to anti-gay organizations? Maybe not the best example.
  18. I have to agree with Dolomite. If the FrankenAR I built years ago suddenly turned to dust I'd have to give the Smith a solid look.
  19. Which taxes? Just income taxes? We pay an awful lot of taxes in different categories.
  20. He needs to find a better class of women to hang out with. At the very least she could have used a Ruger instead of a Taurus.
  21. Nothing new. Many people have to pay PMI on a mortgage.
  22. If I were going to carry the way you describe I'd carry a 3" barrel Ruger SP101 like the one I already own. You can get them new now with a 4.2" barrel, which may be of interest to you as well.
  23. It sounds good, and I've had the same thought, but you're way too likely to buy a gun that has been used in a crime. Not worth it.
  24. Okay, so the guy found a stock photo of some warships and another of some planes and didn't check carefully enough. I generally err on the side of assuming ignorance over malice. It's usually the safe bet.
  25. Some staffer got lazy. "We need stills for the background. We want a nice one showing the Navy with some planes going overhead." He found some stock photo and didn't know the difference between our ships and theirs. At least they're F-5's flying overhead and not MiG's. In all honesty, if you showed me pics of random warships and I recognized the aircraft overhead as being American make, and there were no markings on the ships to tell me otherwise, I might not notice the difference either.
