Cuomo, thorugh executive order, just allowed New Yorkers to vote with just an affidavit. No ID or anything else proving they are who they are is required. They said they need to follow up to verify who they are later or their vote will not count. But if votes are annonymous how is this possible? I guess the person with the affidavit could vote for Obama then when questioned later he can say he voted for Romney. Two votes from a single person. Dolomite
From what I'm reading here (the actual Executive Order) I don't see anything about identification, just that he's allowing any registered voter to vote in any polling place, since the one they're supposed to use may or may not currently be functional. Or is there another one I'm unaware of? http://www.governor.ny.gov/executiveorder/62

I have a 6" 617 and it's a sweet shooting gun. I'd like to shoot one of the SP101's, but if the trigger is anything like my .357 SP101 there is no comparing them. Get the Smith.

It appears to be a pretty nice piece of kit, and at that price well made. It's also possible that they're bumping the price for people like us to help subsidize supplying it to people living in places where it's not just a neat little toy.

I'd seen the small one, but I wasn't aware of the larger model. I see it shown on their web site, but no information about availability or price.

New Jersey Turns Away Non-union Relief Crews
BryanP replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in General Chat
Except that if you ask the Alabama utility companies, apparently this story is bogus. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-201_162-57544237/ala-utilities-our-crews-not-turned-away-from-n.j/ Alabama power companies are denying a local TV station's report that linemen who had traveled to New Jersey from Alabama (a right to work state) to help restore power to those hit hard by Superstorm Sandy were told they could not work there because they were non-union. More details at the link. -
another TGO member used to do them for me...he is no longer in the business however! thus why production has halted until I find another person who can make them and sell them at a reasonable price!
It looks like something that could easily be done with one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Silhouette-Cameo-Starter-Bundle-Cutter/dp/B007R83VKE

It's probably still not something I would care to play around with. Lowers are cheap enough now that I think I'd just buy myself a pistol marked lower if I wanted to do my own AR pistol build.

Except that when I saw that this morning I went to the facebook page for the people making the claim. Oddly enough that image was still in place. I have to wonder if someone is making mountains out of molehills.

On a privately owned forum? In that sense FB is no different than TGO. You're welcome to use it at the pleasure of the owners. They can censor you or boot you at any time and you really have no recourse, nor should you.

Poll - On your carry gun; Safety or no Safety?
BryanP replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I normally carry a revolver, and my secondary carry is a PM9, so technically I'm in the No category. Except I occasionally carry a Ruger SP9c, and have no problem with the safety. I disagree with the wording of the can't decide. I know what I'm carrying and I know how to use it. -
I don't know what kind of effect that will have, but some quick googling tells me that Mossberg 500 barrels will fit a Maverick 88, so worst case you can replace the barrel pretty easily.

Thanks for the heads up. Currently our Verizon plan has 2 phones (mine and my wife) with the old unlimited plan and our two daughters on 2GB plans. I think I'll just leave it that way for now until things settle out and they get their crap under control.
-
The phones my wife and I are using now (Samsung Stratosphere Android phones on Verizon) were both bought used. In my case I bought them both off Craigslist, met the person locally, called Verizon and had them verify the ESN was good before I paid for and took possession of the phone. When it comes to eBay, (or anything else for that matter) If you're getting too good of a price then someone is getting screwed and it's probably you.

Having watched the video, I have to agree that his "cheater" is illegal under current law. As for the actual content of the video itself ...

If they continue following the comic as a rough guide then it will be a mix. Some die, some don't.

HCP Holder charged with first degree murder
BryanP replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
He's not listed in the Memphis Commercial Appeal's database of HCP holders. But they also state that it's only current as of Dec of 2011. Remember people, as HCP's become more common the odds are increasingly high that we'll see more stories like this. -
Which, oddly enough, is what I heard from people about Bush I, Clinton, and Bush II. It was a load BS then, still a load of BS.

How did you feel the first time you carried?
BryanP replied to dieewigeteufel's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I was fidgety and self conscious about it. Now I don't think about it. -
It's a matter of preference. Some people obviously have a strong preference. My Marlin 1894C has a crossbolt safety, which never gets used. If you don't care then buy whatever you can get that's cheapest. If you decide you have a preference then you have choices. Choices are good.

If you're in a place where you can't carry (oh, like where I work), then pepper spray is better than nothing and can be quite effective. It's true that individual reaction to pepper spray follows a pretty standard bell curve. Most people are lumped right in the middle of the curve with the typical reaction of being immediately disabled. Some people are more susceptible, with some on that side being so susceptible that exposure can put them in the hospital. Then there's the small number at the other end of the bell curve who are resistant to it's effects, with a very small number being completely immune to it's effects. I don't consider this a valid reason not to keep it as an option any more than stories of people shrugging off gunshots and continuing to attack will cause me to give up carrying a pistol. For those of you who have never been exposed to pepper spray, you should try it some time. It's quite an experience.

I'm sorry you had to go through so much recently, but thank you for the wisdom.

state employee towards a civilian/customers?
BryanP replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I'm sure there's some rule about it, but there's no reason for them to give you an attitude. But even so, I always try to keep in mind that maybe that person is just having a really crappy day and cut them a little slack. -
Thanks for posting. I won't win but what the heck, its worth tossing my name in the pile.
