Urban Skeet... Coming to a town near you...

I think that may be the best piece of video I have ever watched... I think the country is really ready to dial things back a bit...by force if necessary. I would be happy to stand with my northern rednecks....

I rarely go see movies. Let the nieces and nephews talk me into taking them during Christmas break. I thought it was a great flick. Really liked tying into the beginning of the whole series. Mark

While it is nice to see this one of 2 things will happen: 1) the Feds will just buy the guns and give them to NYC 2) the BATFE (or whatever initials they are currently using) will visit with them to "review" their licensing. When the ATF leaves the IRS will be waiting in the parking lot to come in and investigate some reporting irregularities. The EPA will be by next to audit the site to make sure there are no issues with hazardous waste etc. Finally, for the big boys someone in the Pentagons procurement division will be by to explain that there might be some pending issues with that big contract they have. It is fairly predictable... Mark

White House Confirms Obama did nothing on Benghazi
Mark A replied to MacGyver's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
There is a reason they have decided it is better for big O to look incompetent in this matter. I wonder what that is? They are covering something up that would make 4 deaths look puny. I wonder if we will ever find out... Mark -

What I wanted to see was his (now) ex-girlfriend get out of the drivers side and yell at him to get Bobbi Sue to pay for it since they were sleeping together...

[quote name="mikegideon" post="896368" timestamp="1359181623"]. If they don't, you need allthread long enough to go to a 2x6 or piece of unistrut that spans the bottom of a couple of floor joists. Knoxville Police Looking at New Pistols
Mark A replied to Moped's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
So this made me look at some numbers about the KPD Approx 384 officers. This seems low by the time you divide by 3 shifts, add in time off and subtract mgmt and other non-patrol officers. 2011 budget: 49 million. Seems like a lot but maybe not. Need to poke around some more to confirm those numbers. Anyone have an idea on how many sidearms you need per officer in general to cover maintenance and other things? Is it 10% extra? Just curious in general, Mark -
Well, what is a star football player supposed to do? I mean with all the campus hotties throwing themselves at the debating team members the star football players are being left out. Oh, wait...

Keith is active on a couple different forums. He works pretty hard to advance the pro firearms agenda. It shames me a bit that I am not nearly as active as he is. Mark

Powder quantity question from a reloading noob
Mark A replied to subsonic's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Is there info out there on when a powder is thoroughly used? I am wondering how to select a powder for different barrel lengths. For example, I am getting ready to work up a load for my 556 pistol. Was planning on using TAC. I like how it meters in my 550 and it seems to shoot well across a variety of loads. However, I've mainly used it in full sized carbines and not in the 556 pistol. Only redneck test I could think of so far is to put a white t-shirt on the bench and see if a bunch of powder lands on it. The velocity of the escaping gas might throw it further than that but I figured it was worth a try. Any ideas if I need to move to a faster powder? Mark -
Man, Federal has a 69 gr matchking loading that is the most accurate load I've ever shot out of my sig 556 pistol. It was so much better than anything else that I've decided to try to work up a load to match it as closely as possible. I was originally going to load a 62 gr something just to keep the velocity up out of the shorter barrel but I changed my mind after I saw these shoot. One of these days I'm going to try that load in both my full size carbines and see how it does. Mark

Move to arm teachers picks up steam in TN
Mark A replied to QuietDan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I agree, he seems pretty calm to me... I hope this armed teacher thing moves forward. I know they are talking about it and other safety issues at my wife's school tomorrow. I am all about a volunteer program as well. Not so sure I agree with it being parents /grandparents only. I want someone who will stay in their assigned area, not run to their kids at the first sign of trouble. I have a friend of almost 40 years who has 2 preschool kids. I am literally the only "uncle" they have. Restricting me from volunteering at their school, or at the school where my wife teaches would really piss me off. Mark -
I've been fortunate enough to train in some pretty good classes. One of the most useful and interesting was a couples class with Tiger McKee. It focused on how to work with your spouse to remove yourself from a bad situation. Lots of work on verbal communication and getting around corners to get out of a house. It included working together to solve problems that one person alone would be hard pressed to resolve. That is the kind of real world training I could use more of. It wasn't a super high round count which meant it wasn't a commercial success but I wouldn't trade those 2 days for anything in the world. Both my wife and I got a ton out of it. Tiger doesn't talk a whole lot but for some reason I have more notes from any one of his classes than I do all the rest combined. And yes, it is a lot of fun to go out and work on tactics and such... I'm with Mike on that one, even if it is hard for me to hit the deck and shoot in some uncomfortable position. Mark

Well, my dehydrator showed up on Thursday. I am now munching on a few kale chips and some zucchini chips. Sweet potato chips for my wife are drying over night. We spent the last couple of weeks looking at what we typically eat for dinner and how much of it could use various dried components in at least some part of the preparation. We were pretty surprised... Next up is jerky of some kind. I think I am going to like this thing a lot. Mark

I average 1 multiday defensive hangun and 1 multi day carbine class per year. When I can scrape together the time/funds I try to add some type of a competition course in as well. I don't compete but I do like the problem solving skills that those that compete have to develop. I've tried to add a simunition class in the last couple of years. I know it is far from the real thing but having something flying back at you has been good for me. Mark
