Man you guys are pathetic... I am proud to say that from the very first of the original thread I only checked the thread 3 or 4 times per day. Since the new thread I've been strong and only checked like 3 or 4 times per hour. Geez... Rookies!

I don't NEED one of those but I sure do WANT one... Looks like my immediate fun-gun funds are going to be tied up learning how to build TGO-15's... DannyP don't forget to post pics of whatever you get so I can hate on you just a bit. Mark

I am hopeful (but doubtful) that we can prevail in the primary. That is absolutely the place to do it. However, I WILL NOT VOTE for Alexander or Corker again. If that allows a democrat to get in by default then that is the way it is. At least then I won't be embarrassed about voting for a weasel. I'm pushing my state reps to close the primary process. I think that is our only legitimate hope. Mark

No doubt that she will answer well to Lucy...

You get Harley a bed to lay down on and she might not ever leave. Sort of dog ownership by default... Keep increasing visit time everyday and one day your wife will turn around and ask exactly when did you get a dog... (not advocating petnapping...)

Time to kick this one back to the top... I have some leaf lettuce, spinach, cabbage, and swiss chard started. I will start some more romaine in a week or so Is it too late to start a batch of carrots and also some yellow bulb onions? It seems like the weather will support it. I do plan on building some boxes to help protect the lettuce once it finally gets cold. Looking to borrow knowledge from those that know... thanks, Mark

Not much in the way of adding a great amount of food but this one was really fun to make: First you take some of this: then you need some of this stuff: and you get some of this golden habanero goodness...: Letting it set up tonight. Will give it a shot tomorrow and see if it is any good Thanks, Mark

I've been out of Chattanooga for about 6 years. Before I left they were talking about a combination of both. New subdivisions were going to get fiber all the way. Not sure if they ever they ever did or not. I know when we switched to them at work they pulled fiber all the way in.

I've been reading some about the 22TCM and my interest is growing...

Been there, done that... You might see Alexander inch towards the right just because he is feeling a bit of heat right now. I've finally decided I'm not voting for any more RINO's I won't vote for a liberal and my not voting for a rino might lead to their defeat but really I just don't see much difference. If we get a good, solid conservative to vote for I am all in. So, I'm going to be as active as possible in the Republican primary... And, I will keep my fingers crossed until the final ballot is counted. Mark

I will be the first to stand in line and tell Comcast to take a flying leap. The Chattanooga fiber is nice. And, it was built with unlimited taxpayer $$$ In a few years, when there is no competition and the price goes through the roof and the service falls into the basement please come back and tell us how good life is. Please don't forget the real reason EPB put in the fiber system. The power companies are salivating over smart meters. With smart meters comes the opportunity to require smart thermostats and other devices. And then, whenever EPB or TVA feels like it they will change your thermostat settings. Then they will stand up and trumpet how they've eliminated rolling brownouts... Of course, you will be happy about it even if it is 80 degrees inside in the middle of August. This is progress over making them install more (quantity) or more efficient infrastructure. You know, man made global warming and evil coal and all that jazz... Mark

Thanks Timestepper. I think we can still get good peaches at the farmers market Ye old wifey will like these for sure Mark

That is pretty darn sexy looking. I might just have to get the uppers after all... This is going to be my first AR build. Might as well go whole hog and learn the whole thing. Mark

I know this is probably silly but I dehydrated a bunch of stuff, made pre-mixed meals out of them, vacuum packed the individual meals, threw it into a medium sized tupperware container and threw it into the bottom of the chest freezer. I figure that is about as long term of storage as I can come up with. I'm thinking as long as I can maintain the freezer it will last just about forever and if I have to boogie I can grab the tupperware box and not have to worry about anything in it from going bad for at least a few months. As long as I can find water to re-hydrate and cook with I should be ok. If only I could figure out a way to dehydrate water... I don't imagine it will be gourmet but I do think it will be nutritious and have some flavor. The texture may not be the best but I've found my perception of flavor and texture are inversely related to how hungry I am. I will let you know how it is working out in about 5 years when I get one out and try it. Mark

some good little tidbits in this thread...

Another milestone for me... Green beans. I remember popping beans for my grandma back in the day. She was a little scary so when she told us to do something we hopped right to it. Such a long time ago... Anyway, bought a box, bushel, case, whatever it is called and we were off to the races. 7 quarts and 29 pints now grace the counter top. Anyone tell me if it would have been ok to trim them last night and can them this morning? Thanks Mark

Man... 15 whole days to go...

JAB, are you canning the actual noodles or canning the soup and adding the noodles to order? I ask because I read a lot of stuff about not canning noodle type products. Also, now that you mentioned it on the internet the rules CLEARLY state that you have to share any and all hot sauce recipes. So come on, fess up... Mark

I grew up in a canning family but after the grandma's passed it kind of became lost info. We started a couple of years ago after my wife was diagnosed with cancer. She was very fortunate in that it was caught at an extremely early stage. When she came home from the hospital she told me that she didn't want to put any more food in her body w/o knowing where it came from and what it had in it. I was already doing a lot of cooking and freezing but to pull off what she wanted I needed to figure out something besides freezing. Plus, somethings are good long term frozen and some are better canned. We keep both. So, we grow what we can in our small garden and did a lot of research into a couple of local farmers that grow things very naturally. Basically we eat what we grow and we buy to can. It is just easier that way. Mark

In for 2 please. His and hers SBR's gonna be sweet... After further review... I'm in for a couple of uppers as well. Might as well learn to build the whole thing

Don't feel like the lone stranger. Lots of buyers remorse with Corker.

This makes me happy... I was seriously bummed when I saw the other thread locked. Organizing something like this has to be worse than trying to herd a million cats Mark

This is surprising to me as they were posted 2 weeks ago... Costco founder is a liberal d-bag. There are enough liberals getting money from me via taxes. I don't need to willingly give them money. However, I agree that Costco is nicer. Mark

We vacuum pack and freeze a fair amount. Mostly meat. I smoke as much as my smoker will hold, we divide it into dinner and lunch portions and freeze away. No more cooking dinner during the week. Thaw out a meat, slap together a salad and we are done. I cant believe I've saved so much money on lunch. That money alone has funded several firearms purchases It was either start canning or buy another freezer. So, we did both... 27 pints of salsa last weekend. Didn't start out intending to can a lifetime supply, just ended up there... Mark
