No... in spite of your excellent advice I went with a Troy rail. What can I say, I guess I am a bit of a Troy fan boy. The KAC just looked a little clunky to me. Troy just did away with the TRX line in favor of the Alpha line and it is taking time to get the various models out of the factory. They are making a 308 VTAC now which I would have really liked to get but they are only offering it in the low profile DPMS and the CMT is a high profile. I don't know if there is an advantage one way or the other. I do know that my M&P 10 is the low profile version. I'm hopeful now that more folks are starting to make 308 AR's that one standard will win out and simplify things as it can be tricky buying pieces and parts... I'm still anxious to see yours... Mark

Well, I bought one of their kits along with the adjustable spring kit and one of their low mass BCG's for the CMT 308 I am building. I also got one of the Micro MOA adjustable gas blocks. I have 2 goals: 1) Create as soft shooting but reliable gun as possible 2) Have a suppressor setting that is also reliable. I am curious about the dynamic between the adjustable springs and the adjustable gas block. I'm hoping they will work together but it may be that I can mostly tune through one or the other. The really interesting part is I don't really know much about tuning a gas system. So far my plan is to start where is doesn't cycle and increase gas until it does. I'm sure there is a better method that has like actual science involved. I'm hoping that the system will also be fairly quiet. Now if my rail would just get in but it isn't scheduled for production until late June... Mark

begone you evil purveyor of forbidden imagery - begone!!! must...not... succumb...to...dark...desires...too...add...anything...else,,,habit forming... Sigh... I gotta quit surfing the net. It used to be enough to enjoy the successes of others but then I wanted to start replicating those successes and it is truly a slippery slope. Mark

I'm slowly transitioning to Trijicon HD's on all my pistols. I like them for most anything I would use a defensive pistol for. They are a bit of a pain past 25-30 yards but no more so than any other sights with a large front dot. Mark

Lettuce, Swiss chard, spinach and various lettuces have all popped up. Nothing else is even trying to grow yet... Really hoping the peppers shoot up soon.

Read "The Eagle Has Crashed" last week. I think I am at about 50/50 on this book. There were some really entertaining bits and a few mind numbingly boring bits. There was one pretty good twist in the novel that actually made me think a bit. Sort of an Oathkeepers from a different direction moment. The end is so-so but only because it is leading to at least one more book. I think I will give it a thumbs up as it was a decent price. Mark

I have a couple of spares handy if you suddenly find yourself in need of one. Mark

I started some cooler weather stuff about 8 weeks ago. Then life got in the way and I haven't had a chance to get more stuff going until today. Some of it is pretty late getting started but with the weather we've been having who knows if it will be hot or cold so I am giving them a chance.

A customer service rep from Brownells called when I ordered 6 of those stupid little buggers. She thought surely it was a typo... I'm sure I can source them locally but when it is 11:00 pm it is just easier to click and add to cart...

Those videos Oh Shoot posted are good. I like to print out the parts guide from AR15.com and use it as a visual reference to pick out the correct springs. Then, I pull up the video and start starting and stopping until the gun is done. Mark

And... already sold out. I hope a bunch of people here got them.

Did I miss the announcement that these have been released? I thought I was checking pretty much every day but when I checked tonight they were available for purchase and there was a review from when someone picked one up on 3/28...

Like my M&P10 just fine. It is currently wearing a 13.8" TRX but there is a VTAC rail on the way for it. Going to take the 3-9 off and run a 1-4 on it. It is going to be an intermediate range heavy carbine. The TRX & the 3-9 are going on a CMT 308 when they are released. Mark

I know the saying is never say never but I can assure the universe I will not pay that kind of coin for 22 Mark

I haven't bought 22 in years - probably at least 4 and maybe 5 years. We just don't shoot very much of it now that I am reloading. Can someone remind me again what a brick of average quality 22 was going for? thanks, mark

Just found out I am burning some vaca time next week. One of those use it or lose it deals... Somehow I seem to have pretty much everything needed to build an AR in .308. Except of course for the upper and lower... Be a great time to slap one together...

Man oh man oh man... I've started putting my modified M&P 10 through it's paces and I have been having a blast. I'm learning a lot and was thinking about shooting it at a precision rifle class this fall. But ( and I have a big one so it carries a lot if weight ) what I really wanted to do was build an AR 10 with a 20" barrel. And I've been thinking about pleading with CMT to start building receivers so this is freaking great news. So sign me up right now. And, later on, if we get to do a TGO 10 to go with my TGO 15, sign me up then as well... Mark

Yes, but ONLY if you stayed in a Holiday Inn Express last night. It is in the fine print...

Does anyone have a few rounds of Weatherby 340?
Mark A replied to MemHeli's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Wowsa... $2.00 a pop for just brass...still, probably the easiest return on investment to justify buying a reloading set up. Mark -
Yes, it is a pistol. But, it has dreams of growing up to be so much more...
