  1. Some folks are lucky enough to have natural gas wells on their property. I am not one of them but I wish I was.   Maybe I am looking at it wrong but I am not looking to generate power for the next 10 years. I want to get through an immediate emergency and have enough fuel to run a generator a few hours a day to keep the fridge and freezers cold. By then, if services aren't coming back online we have bigger problems.   In a months time I can eat the already prepared foods like my chili and stuff like red sauce and get everything else in there canned or dehydrated   Mark
  2. Thanks. I will do that. I have a few Ghost peppers and devils tongue peppers that are going to be picked today. I can send you some or if you are close to Michaels place I can stick them in with his shipment.   I appreciate it...   I am going to make a KICKIN batch of chili in the next few weeks...
  3. We have a little hole in the wall mexican restaurant here that is pretty good. Once the staff gets to know you they will tell you about things they cook for themselves that aren't on the menu. They have a habanero sauce that is great.   I took them some ghost peppers to add to their sauce. Next time I went in they started calling me senor muertos...   That sauce was really hot...     I'm going to have to search out some of those peter peppers to add to the mix for next year.   Mark
  4. I just picked more. Shall I send some your way? You need to keep some of the seeds and grow a couple next year
  5. Yep, my first stamp showed up today so now my TGO 15 is a TGO SBR 15. I know it is old hat for many but still exciting for me. Now if that mean old Michael Dresner dude would let my suppressor out of jail...
  6. Thanks for the info. That 338 whisper looks interesting. Actually they all look interesting but the 338 seems to meet all the criteria. I'm going to call SSK industries tomorrow and price up some goodies Mark
  7. Is like a 300 blackout but using a 308 case? Something shooting a big honkin bullet but that could possibly be loaded to subsonic velocity?   It looks like I am going to find myself with a AR10 to build. I already have a standard M&P10, a precision 308 built on the CMT chassis and am almost done with a 308 SBR   If the TGO 308 comes to pass I thought about doing something cool and different even though I really don't need to add another cartridge to load. Possibly the answer is to just load a standard 308 to subsonic velocity and tune the gas and buffer spring to cycle the weapon correctly.   But, something spitting out a big old piece of lead is holding a certain appeal.   I guess I need to look around and see what suppressors are offered as well. Not much sense in loading something subsonic if I can't suppress it.   Anyway, thanks in advance for any info offered.   Mark
  8. I really want to build our house with an outdoor boiler. We will be building in 2-3 years so I have plenty of time to start gathering firewood.   I would like to do in-floor heating if I can afford it. I'm also curious about using it for domestic hot water. I haven't had a lot of time yet to do much research so I'm not sure if I can use the boiler during the summer months with a lot less wood or if I would have a hybrid system that uses propane for hot water in the summer and the boiler during the winter when it is fired up.   I have a feeling that the payback is going to be pretty long. I do like the lower electricity requirement during power outages. But, I have the same advantage with propane...   I will be curious to see if anyone has any direct experience with this.   Mark
  9. It is a pretty sobering show... I don't remember reading 2 private citizens with permits went in with the few police willing to go on in. Not really a lesson learned for me as I hate malls. Amazon was invented for a reason... My wife breaks out in hives at the thought of never going shopping again.
  10. I have one of their personal kits in each of our vehicles and their major trama kit that I carry on all trips Good folks.
  11. Here is the one I just built. I am impressed with how well the upper and lower mate up. Lot's of cool little touches on this set. Just neat little improvements that make the build go easier
  12. Dude, with the exception of fine tuning the gas system I finally finished my CMT 308 on Sunday. I will try to get pictures up tomorrow. It is super tight. I couldn't imagine it being built any better. Now I have a 308 SBR on the bench coming together. I am completely out of gun funds... PM sent. I am totally in... Won't be able to afford to eat but I need to lose some weight anyway...
  13. Amazing isn't it? 8 bazillion HD channels and the only place comcast can find for it is a lousy SD channel. Between ABC and the ESPN networks you would think that something like ESPN news could be re-tasked for a few hours...
  14. Here is my latest addition... 6' of 1/2" thick zombie horde killing steel...
  15. Well, I finally watched this last night. Shew... Hate me some fast zombies...   I was actually surprised how much I liked the movie...

    Got Bored

me likee... The best part is most of those fools out there would never get it...
  17. I wish I'd remembered this yesterday when I drove right past the exit...
  18. Well, I dug my first trench yesterday... 100' and it took about 2 hours. I am not the most graceful of backhoe operators but I have plenty of enthusiasm... Buddy needed to control rain runoff and I needed some practice.. And, he promised beer for when we were done. Good deal for all
  19. Thanks. We've been saving for a LOOOOOOONG time. We are determined to pay cash as we go with the goal of having everything paid for including the house in about 3 years.   I am only going to get one shot at each step of this so I am trying to do things really right. One of the benefits of getting the new tractor was getting a decent sized back hoe so that I can do as much of the underground work as possible my self. We will see if that ends up saving money or not.   Even though I don't have a lot of spare time it is all free so I will invest it as wisely as possible.   Mark
  20. After about a 10 month search we closed on some property yesterday. It has most of the items on the list and was only a little more than I'd hoped to pay so we pulled the trigger.   I really didn't know it was going to be so hard to find dirt.   Then, since it is apparently an affront to any red blooded American male to not have one, I picked up a shiny new orange tractor as well. It is currently sitting on the trailer in my driveway. My first major task will be to survive backing it off the trailer. From my years in jeeping I became fairly adept at rolling 4wd vehicles but I really don't want to roll this one.   Many thanks to all that have answered land and tractor questions over the last few months. It was nice getting info from local folks with real world experience.   Mark
  21. So let me ask a suppressor rookie question: Can you shoot this with slugs? Standard slugs suitable for a smoothbore   Mark
  22. We are behind this year. I did make a couple of big batches of different peach jams and we  canned a boatload of pickles but that is about it. Going to have to get busy soon on a bunch of tomato stuff.
  23. Well, that is pretty cool...   Mark
  24. Yes, rattle can. Aervoe or something like that from Brownells. I did a sand base coat first. Not totally sold on the green yet but it seems to still be darkening as it cures. I will be curious to see how well it holds up. I tend to be a bit rough on my carbines.
