I'm ok with using existing buildings to fix a housing problem. It is either that or bulldoze the land and make it a park.   However, it is inevitable that these places will become dens of radical fundamentalists that will plot to overthrow the German government.

I like my 220 a lot even though I don't shoot it enough. I also like my g29 and no, I dont shoot it enough either. I'm also loving the new MPX If sig made a MPX in 10mm with an 8" barrel in a SBR configuration I would run over my grandmother and all the other grandmothers to be the first in line... Really like the 10mm 220. I'm going to give them a year or so to work the kinks out then pick one up. You'll know when you see a low mileage g29 for sale.

While not admitting to anything lets just say experience can be instructive. After a while, "my friend" realized that there must be a better way. Enter goosenecks and 5th wheels. Who knew it was so expensive to repair the back of truck cabs. Along those lines it took me a few years to realize that i get stuck about the same amount in my 2 wheel drive truck as I did my jeep. Do you have room to put a small hydraulic bottle jack in there? Brace it against the other side and start pumping. Not that I've ever had to do that or anything...

Congrats on the lights. Was starting to believe working lights on a trailer was against the law in Tennessee.. Nice looking litte trailer. Everytime I get a small one I love it. Eventually I get rid of it to make room or something then I go through withdrawal until I get another one. You might consider some of that roll on bedliner stuff. It makes things a bit harder to slide in but it sure is nice if you have to climb up on the trailer when it is wet. Ask me how I know...

My wife and her sisters did the Nash Trash tour and had a blast. There was some drinking by some folks but not a lot. Beyond that my wife and some of her friends did the pottery thing and really enjoyed it. It might be nice to create a keepsake as a rememberance. But, laughter is always first for me. Mark

I'm still soldiering on with an original 5D. I also have a couple of mk2n's that I just can't bring myself to part with. Really like full frame but I also liked the 1.3 factor sensors. The few (admittedly rare) times my wife has made a comment about spending money on guns I go get some of my camera gear out and start playing with it. My progression has gone from hard core jeeps to deep down the sports photography hole to firearms and training. Each move has cost less...

David, what body are you currently using?

I think I will be the guy to invent a little right angle periscope thingy to mount on my aimpoints. Then, I can trap the gun between my arm and torso and still use my red dot.   Even better would be to invent a projectable (is that a word?) holograph that would put a virtual red dot in front of my face while I hold the rifle down low.

Exactly what I was just thinking... What happens if I "brace" the sig brace between my arm and torso? It is not "shouldering" but is still not being used as designed. Did I just break the law? If I shoot my carbine in the same manner did I just break the law since I didn't shoulder it?   Lots of minefields for the ATF to fall in but I sure don't want to be the one determining case law...

You mean they can't use Federal law to confiscate it. Nothing about that prevents a department from using state laws to justify it.   I'm going to bet TN has a law that states that they can do that but who knows... I would love to be wrong.

So, for the time being it continues to be legal to have one attached to a pistol. That is fine with me as I will continue carry (in a vehicle when I travel) my 5.56 pistol anywhere that any of my other pistols are legal. It just means that I won't attend any training classes (which I have not done as I didn't want any pictures of me shooting it from the shoulder when this inevitably went as it is) with it. For training classes I will continue to use a standard carbine or my SBR assuming I had enough notice to get the paperwork returned for where I want to take it.    I hope it never gets classified by the  ATF as a stock but I think it is inevitable once they lose the first court case. Once that happens it will be discarded.   Once it is classified as a stock I will put my single point sling back on. I can get a decent cheek weld on it. Not as good as a regular stock but still good enough to shoot very accurately at what I would call normal self defense distances.   In the meantime if I ever have to use that 5.56 pistol in defense of my life I guess I will deal with the fallout at that time.   Mark

I agree that renewing this thread is a good idea. But, I was surprised to see I'd participated before. Apparently a mind is a terrible thing to waste... So pistol is now worse and carbine is now better. Shotgun is still terrible and I just don't know what to do about it yet. On the list for the upcoming Spring is to build a hallway decent range on the land we bought last year. Maybe that will help. But honestly, dry fire can be done anytime/ just about anywhere and I don't do enough of that either. I need to spend less time looking for the next toy to buy and quit building things for a while and start practicing some skills before I need them.

I think the Kubota BX25 is a great small tractor. Lots of cool aftermarket support as well. Mark

Well congrats. We aren't living on ours yet but hopefully will be in about 3 years.   Chickens will work your garden area pretty well pre-planting. You can run ducks if you want the same fertilization of chickens without all the damage and the eggs are very tasty. Ducks are easier to herd as well...   A subcompact tractor would be pretty helpful. A lot of them will have a front end loader and a mid mount mower (think slightly larger than a normal riding lawn mower). You can save for a few years and get one a few years old for pretty decent pricing.       The best thing I like about our land is going outside, standing really still and listening to the sound of... nothing...   Mark

  Well I, for one, love curling up in front of my basically fake gas log fireplace and reading a cold, electronic piece of hardware...     Just poking fun at the old days.     I took a long time to move to a Kindle app on my iPad and I still have some serious reservations. I hate not being able to easily lend a book to a friend (I'm sure the book publishers and authors don't mind that at all). I like having the books physically in my house. I'm concerned at the long term viability of libraries but maybe virtual libraries are a good thing. However, it is really nice being able to carry an almost unlimited amount of books with me.   Where I've settled is if it is a reference book or something I think might be useful if the power goes out I buy the print copy. If it is just fluff or entertainment reading I buy the electronic version.   What I really wish is that publishing houses would give you the option of paying a couple bucks more and getting both versions   Mark
