  1. we watched the first 30 minutes. Not very humorous to us but in all fairness we don't like slapstick kind of stuff a lot.   I did laugh when he dumped the load of bowling balls out of the back of the truck.
  2. It's raining pretty hard with really cold rain. I expect the ice/sleet/snow to start any minute.   The river is getting pretty full and like everywhere else the ground is really saturated with water. If it comes down hard tonight I imagine it will breach the banks.   Mark
  3. I finally finished this last weekend. I took the largest deep cycle battery I could find, used a combo smart charger/ inverter (it auto switches on a power outage), a dual element 12v LED light, terminal strip and a multi socket cigarette adaptor for car chargers. I have a different battery backup system that uses (2) 6 volt batteries but It has to be unhooked from the chargers and hooked up to the inverter and I wanted something a little easier for my wife to use. I travel regionally and it might be a few hours before I get home if there is a power issue. This will give my wife light, allow her to power up our big buddy heaters and get the wireless back up and running. It will also run the small TV for a while if needed. This won't be a big help during the summer but at least she can have a fan and light until I get home to fire up the generator. Only thing I would change is getting a slightly nicer hand truck. It is a little hard to move around Mark
  4.   If you haven't figured out what causes that yet I can send you a PM.   Just kidding of course and good job keeping everyone entertained. When  I was that age if you'd locked me and my sister in the same room for 2 days I'm pretty sure only one of us would have walked out. It probably would have been her. She is younger than I am but was bigger than I was until Jr High School ( I can just see the young pups now. What is Jr High School???)   Anyway, she was mean as a snake but at least I learned to fight well   When I got to the 6th grade I finally started to grow bigger than she was. In one of our epic fights my mom walked around the corner when I had my sisters head by the hair and was repeatedly banging it into the floor. She looked down at my sister and told her "I told you to quit picking on him as he was going to be bigger than you one day" She let it go for another minute and then told me to let her go. I had years of pent up energy. I was ready to keep going for a while.   Mark
  5. I like PRI a lot. I keep several unopened bottle of the gas and the diesel versions. Right now I have 12 cans numbered. At the first of each month I dump the current one and go fill it back up with ethanol free. Don't treat it and haven't had any issues yet. I keep the PRI in case I have to store ethanol. I do treat my diesel with it as I'm not burning through it regularly like I do gas.
  6. Worked up a load for my sig 5.56 using 75gr bthp and 25gr of blc-2. It runs really well in that gun. One if these days I will remember to try it in one of my AR's. That is really close to max so I would edge up to it. For some reason the sig really likes hot rounds. Don't know if it has to do with the gas system or what but it really likes hot and heavy (no comments from the pervs please)
  7. Stopped by an army surplus store looking for a bag and the lady at the counter asked what I thought about the ban on .223... She just happened to have some wolf steel put back just in case anyone wanted some. I figured this was a teachable moment so I politely explained what was really going on. I don't think she bought it and neither did the other 2 folks in line. The tin foil was wrapped pretty tightly. Her prices were inline with most others I've seen in the last few months so she wasn't trying to gouge anyone. I just hate the misinformed opinions floating around.
  8. Stepping away from all the Gabby Giffords baggage are there any other navy warships named for women? I probably should know that...
  9. And a truly wide open internet is one of the best ways to accomplish that. I hope no one is surprised by the net neutrality vote today. Slower service at a higher price is in our future. There is a plan and for all the public bellyaching the big companies are doing about it you know they are on board or it wouldn't be happening in the first place.   As much as I think Google is as deep in the middle of the political mess as can be at least it is ostensibly a free market offering.
  10. I know you asked about a 2nd rifle but I'm going to go with 10-ring on this one. After a good utility .22 I think a 12 gauge shotgun is one of the most versatile guns out there. I'm a fan of the 870 but would not be embarrassed to own a Mossberg 500. If recoil is an issue there are low recoil rounds until you get used to it. You can shoot fairly cheap shells when just out having fun.   A shotgun like the 870 can be used for pretty much any form of hunting, personal defense - especially in a house, fun stuff like clay targets in the back yard (assuming you don't live in the city) and just shooting cans and stuff. It is kind of the swiss army knife of guns in my opinion.   An AR would be a close 3rd to me. I was late to the AR world but really have had a blast with them...   However, I still think a good pump shotgun should be in everyone's house. Before you decide on buying anything keep hanging around here and make some friends. Gun folks can be crotchety at times but I've never known any life long gun guys that didn't like taking new folks under their wing to let them shoot a bit. Make a few friends and when you get asked to go shooting with them ask what kind of ammo they prefer and show up with a box for yourself.   Good luck and have fun, Mark
  11. Yep...   My next appointment is near the end of April. Hoping the stamp is here by then...
  12. Wow, that's pretty cool. It doesn't look old though. I thought they had to be old...   Mark
  13. I bought the replacement nozzles and vents for all my EPA cans. It is ridiculous how the cans cost more because of the new fangled spouts that I'm going to have to pay to replace. At least I can pour gas now without  spilling it everywhere.   Those NATO cans are nice.   Mark
  14. Things boil out. It just happens. Headspace is probably the most important thing to watch. The only other thing is making sure the canner cools down w/o suddenly releasing pressure. I'm going to have to check out canning boiled peanuts. Hmm....
  15. Glad you are getting a chance to Escape from New York. Don't want to burst your bubble but plenty here think our republicans are as bad as liberals too...
  16. I would stay away from the peanut shop at the arcade. Pretty sure the milk balls and chocolate covered peanuts are injected with meth or some other highly addictive substance. That's really the only explanation I've come up with... Mark
  17. Huh... See what happens when you read threads all the way through? Never heard of hoppin John. My mom hated black eyed peas so we never had them. Looks like I will be making some to try this weekend. Kind of in the mood for Jambalaya as well... Mark
  18. Amazon shows 1000' rolls. I'm not qualified to say if it is real or not
  19. homemade + rhino gun = mark's a wus and wouldn't want to be anywhere near it.   Interesting though in that where there is a will there is a way...
  20. So yes I'm a bit of a Sig fanboy so I'm going to suggest a 226. There are a few models left without rails.   If you bought a .357 sig or .40 S&W version you could get a replacement barrel to shoot the other caliber. Then you could add a conversion barrel and different mags for 9mm and have 3 calibers in one unit. If you wanted to get really crazy you can add a 22 LR top end and have 4 calibers.   Just a thought...
  21. Very nice looking...
  22. Is leaving the brake on full time and getting some good electronic hearing protection a possibility? I think I hear better with my Sordins on and turned up.   I like brakes a lot.   Just a thought, Mark
  23. Thanks guys
  24. For those of you who start your tomatoes early when do start growing them? Going to try to start my own instead of buying this year. Thanks, Mark
  25. I have a g29 that gets "lively" when I shoot full boogie underwood stuff. I'm curious about the new Sig 220 in 10mm... But, if I had a choice a MP5/10 would my first preference.
