  1. First was an M & P 10. Fun rifle, shoots well, good balance. Swapped a VTAC trigger and a Troy/VTAC hand guard on it and it feels just like my AR 15 Second I built a precision AR-10 with CMT parts. It is a bit heavy but very sweet. Someday I'm going to put it in the hands of a talented shooter to see how well it shoots.. 3rd was an attempt to build a 308 pistol using aero precision parts. Not such a great build but it works and will be an awesome HD gun.
  2. Start learning how to cook some serious food. Your brothers will love you cause all the girls like a man that can cook. While it is hot do the grill thing but really try to kick it up. When it starts to cool off cook a big pot of chili and keep a pot of cinnamon apple cider going. I've known someone to keep 2 stacks of cups. One stack for the cute girls with his phone number written on it and another stack for everyone else Mark
  3. I wonder why we can't use the highway message boards like they do for Amber alerts? Maybe I've just never seen it.
  4. I have vowed to build no more AR's. I sense a great disturbance in the force...
  5. Nothing gun related but we celebrated our 23rd anniversary yesterday. I still can't believe she said yes. Neither can her family...
  6. I think I'd be more worried about the thing with the glowing eyes to the right...
  7. I'm seriously thinking about adding a 357 mag revolver to my modest collection. What got me started down the road was this: Ruger series 77 I'm thinking I could develop loads from mild to wild and with detachable mags I could keep a couple different things loaded up. I'm even wondering about threading the barrel and developing a heavy subsonic load. Being bolt action it should be really quiet and I think having something really quiet I can shoot 50-75 yards would be nice when we move to the farm. mark
  8. All that and he's pretty good with teeth as well...
  9. Galco ankle holster, G-26 and get the calf strap for the galco. It took me 3-4 days to get over feeling like I had an anchor strapped to my ankle. I've carried a G-33 every day at work for over 5 years. With my sleek, svelte, fighting machine body I can't wear IWB unless I am untucked and I'm just not an untucked at work kind of guy. Don't bother with the spare mag ankle thingy unless you are going to sew a retaining strap to close over the top of the mag for retention. Rumor has it the first day you wear it and go visit a customer the mag will slip out and slide across the floor and your customer will almost die from laughing so hard at the look of horror on your face. Now I notice when I don't have it more than when I do... You're welcome... Mark
  10. Be gone you hateful spreader of wants and desires... My 29 wants a big brother so bad it is almost shaking... Eventually I will get a 40 and then I'm really, really, no I mean really, done... Except, just maybe, I'm gonna pick up something in 357 mag... I don't have any revolvers you know.
  11. Day one, right? And then on day 2 you multiply the first number by 2 and so on until you have a decent assortment of mags? Hello, I'm Mark A and I have a magazine acquisition problem... At least I don't currently have any mags that I don't also have the gun for. I've been known once or twice or 15 times (but who's counting) to find mags for a gun I THINK I might buy and grab them for future use and then never get the gun...
  12. Gun owning, flashlight swinging douche bag reporting in... I support civil disobedience 1000%. I think if you aren't willing to do so you aren't 100% american. But, you need to be prepared to pay the price and the times I've stood up when I perceived an injustice I was fully prepared to go jail. So far I haven't had that happen. I think it may have something to do with the fact that when the police officer walked up and said "ok, you've made your point, move over there or I'm going to have to take you in" I did this really strange thing: I moved. As a result I was able to continue to convey my message and I didn't get tazed or shot or hit or arrested. As far as Christmas parades and other types of events, those are typically properly permitted and the details are publicized well in advance so that the rest of us who don't care to participate can plan an alternative route and not be overly inconvenienced. If you don't understand the fundamental difference in the 2 situations then it turns out you are the idiot gun owning douche bag that makes the rest of us cringe. If you do understand the difference and just lost your mind for a moment, good. Next time you want to protest something give me a shout and I will come stand in the street with you. I might even bring a flashlight for you as well. BTW, at least in my post, no one said anything about "plowing through a crowd". I think the words used were to slowly move. That way everyone had an opportunity to easily move out of the way and then fill the gap behind me. Mark
  13. Yep, this one is simple. I have at least as much right to drive my car through that intersection as they do to stand there. I will drive slowly but not stop. If anyone of them hits my car they will meet my 4 d-cell mag-light. In the officers defense you could hear him yelling at the thugs to not touch the cars as they pulled through. If I didn't have anywhere pressing to be I might make some laps through that intersection until they got tired of being bumped out of the way. Mark
  14. We tried the deep mulch process on one bed last year with fantastic results. This year all of the beds have it. I would estimate we cut weeding time by 95% and the little weeding we do is a lot easier. When we (hopefullly) build our house at the farm next year we are going to expand our garden and it will be thoroughly mulched. In order to facilitate that I just ordered a 3-point chipper for the tractor. Can't wait to get it up and running. Mark

I'm mainly a H-1/T-1 kind of guy. Recently I moved some stuff around and in doing so I bought the new primary arms dot. This one has the extended battery life much like the T-1's. Other than getting used to the controls being different than the aimpoints I really like it. I have it on my Sig 5.56 pistol which has taken over as my truck gun. We own one Eotech. It is for my wife. She has a hard time picking up the dot on an Aimpoint. For me, the Eotech is much harder to run accurately and I hate having that big piece of metal out there when running with both eyes open Mark
  16. We usually blanch, peel, and freeze maters in the summertime and can our various sauces in the winter when adding heat and steam to the house is a good thing. Today we canned jalapeno jelly, blueberry jam and peach pie filling. Love it when stuff starts to ripen. Also dehydrated somewhere around 16 pints of cherry tomatoes. My wife is a friend for them on salads and she has at least one salad every day. Pepper jelly, pie fillings and stuff like that make good Christmas gifts. With all of us "kids" now in our 40's & 50's a gift like that is easier than trying to figure out what to get for people who already have too much junk. I have lots of fond memories of helping my grandmother can. My grandfather on my mom's side was a crotchety old dude and we only got invited up when it was time to pick beans or go glean the corn fields. Then he couldn't get enough of his grandkids. Still good memories though...
  17. This made my night. Waiting for Mac the prospector to show up...
  18. Well... It was a good cooking weekend but I'm kind of glad it is over. Smoked a turkey, 2 chickens, a bunch of lamb chops and some ground lamb & bacon treats. Just finished canning the last of the salsa. We ended up with 30 pints. I will probably make one more batch when the tomatoes start slowing down. That should get us through until next summer. Also got a couple pints of blackberries. It looks like there will be a big batch ready in about 2 weeks. Hoping I can get them before the critters do... Mark
  19. Pretty sure on page 4, section 5 subset 3 of the TGO contract requires you to post pics of doggies using the house.
  20. Dennis1209 is my hero of the day... I bought an all American canner a couple of years back but I did't get the one where you could double stack quarts. I wish I had but I didn't know... So I just run extra batches... One thing we added was an electric canner. My wife doesn't like using the big canner. I had a friend buy the electric one and it worked great so we got one as well. Now my wife cans small batches with it. smaller canner A friend found this on Amazon and got it. I like it a LOT better. Enough so that I will probably give ours to a friend of my wife's and get this one instead. The major differences are it can be used at different altitudes and it can do quarts. electric quart canner For some reason I am a visual learner. I need to meet up with someone who is growing green beans and various other types of pole beans and see how they do it. Youtube helps but I just need to see it for it to really click. Maybe I just need to see about growing some beets and then trade for some beans... Off to go do a doggie adoption then back to start the salsa extravaganza... Mark
  21. Love this time of year for making salsa. Tomorrow I shall rule the salsa world. Pics as it happens... Mark
  22. If everyone else passes we would love it for the farm Mark
  23. So... I'm determined to start some romaine lettuce seeds for a fall crop. If I did the math correctly I should start my seeds next week. It just seems early. We eat a lot of romaine for salads. Thinking of starting 6, then waiting 7-10 days and starting the next 6 and so on. Initial seed start will be indoors in a sunny window. Thoughts?
  24. Good start peejman. Let me know how your pickles turn out. I've only tried once and they ended up pretty mushy. We've had to curtail our canning this year. Spending too much time trying to get the property ready to start construction next spring. 2 years have gone by in the blink of an eye...
  25. I have a Doyle thornless BlackBerry that I put in terrible dirt a couple of years ago. It refuses to die but hasn't fruited yet. I bought a second one at the same time for a friend who knows how to grow stuff and it has produced gallons of good tasting berries. Not sure if there are cheaper options but they seem to produce well with a little TLC Mark
