I've been known to smoke some crazy things but skunk and possum have never crossed my mind. I think I will wait on Mac's AAR on this before trying

Hmmm... how to train a deer to do what I legally can't...

maters and peppers are dragging. We need some sustained hot weather. We didn't plant much anything else this year. I've got some lettuce growing in an indoor system and a few squash plants of various types. Just starting to think about fall seed starting. Probably starting plants in 2-3 weeks...

The Still Surviving series and the Farm series

Well, you've picked a nice area in general. As far as high speed internet, I'm afraid you may be out of luck at the moment. We use (2) Cellular routers with external antennas. One for the house and one for my office. Speeds aren't great but that gives me an excuse to keep my camera off during video calls. It is fast enough to stream most of the time. I sent my Star Link deposit in a couple of months ago. I should have equipment in the next 6-8 weeks (I hope). It remains to be seen if this will be the savior of rural internet the hype promises. I am optimistic anyway... Mark

Recently read 2 series by Boyd Craven III. Decently written, but could have been proof read and edited a little more professionally. Anyway, based in Arkansas which is nice as I know the areas which is always fun in a book series. Def not War & Peace or any other literary giant but if you want an easy read that buys you an escape from the current craziness that is our daily life go check them out... Mark

Try fermenting some of them. You can make a great fermented chili paste

Well, I hate to break in to the Covid forum but I thought I would get some garden stuff going. Last weekend we got a start building our new greenhouse. It is a highwall (7.5') 24x48 structure. We did pretty good for a bunch of not very good layout folks. I hope to have it finished by the end of October. Still trying to decide if we are going to do in ground beds, or raised beds or maybe a combination. We like raised beds the most but they are expensive to build; especially now with the cost of lumber... Next year we will be adding a second layer of plastic and a fan to create an air gap between the 2 layers for insulation

Commercial reloaders are presumed to have better (or at least verifiable) quality control. You also don't have to worry about them wanting to push the velocity limit. They want their ammo to be profitable and go bang every time.

Ranges that use higher end bullet traps instead of rubber tire backstops have limits to the velocity of what the backstop can handle. Most of the ranges I've been to have a no reload and a max velocity limit on handgun ammo. Sometimes you have to ask. When I'm firing some of my larger caliber pistols I draw the attn of the range manager. I've never minded as I want the range to stick around and I don't want to needlessly damage equipment. Mark

The new Outpost location is highly visible from I-24. It is a nice looking building. The Glockstore is close. I'm ready for it to be open. I have several customers who have their offices in the vicinity. I anticipate many lunch meetings with Glockstore receipts being turned in.

8 in a row... playing a real team this Saturday. Lifelong TN fan. They are back when the first 2 teams they played this year are being beat by 30-40 points. Wife is a Georgia grad. Most likely going to be a long weekend.

Recommendations pertaining to GMRS COMM’s for family unit

You are squarely in HF Ham territory. Probably a lot easier to invest in Sat phones. -
And, they make a 10mm verison as well... I could see ditching the 33, 31 and AR pistol for a 20,29, and Flux 40 MOS combo for my on the road package... Very interesting...

357 Sig... Did someone say 357 sig??? Hmm... Lone Wolf makes a conversion barrel for the 35. I wonder if they would make one a couple of inches longer?

This right here. No matter how much or how little you spend, you can't buy the ammo I load anywhere. And yes, it is kind of a pain to load different flavors of the same ammo to make the old rifle happy but somehow when I'm decently on target I seem to vaguely remember the angst in the distant past... I have a fair amount of factory ammo, both good and cheap flavors. I almost always buy ammo for my training classes. Most training companies require factory ammo for a variety of reasons and it is kind of a pain to watch 2500 - 3,000 rounds of my hard earned labor fly down the range on high round count classes. Just for grins and giggles one particular high round count pistol class I took I decided to shoot with my p226 in .357 sig. (my favorite handgun round). I loaded 3,500 full tilt boogie rounds. Normally I shoot 9mm to minimize cost and punishment. 3, 028 rounds and 3 days later I finished the class but had to stay at the hotel an extra night because my hands were so swollen I was afraid to try to drive. Lots of soaking in ice water. Never had the desire to repeat that particular experiment again. now but back then... whew. We've been in our forever home a little over 2 years now. Recently had the reloading cave (shed) delivered. Hopefully as the temps fall and the farm slows down a bit I will get everything set up. It's going to take me a long time to get back in to the swing of things again. I way too much of a fraidy cat to just jump right back in and hope I remember everything.

E4 No More: That may be the most over used and incorrect statement in the overall health care industry there is. Don't get your feathers ruffled because within the last 12 months I used to think the same thing. Please, no offense. You simply cannot get enough D3 via sunlight to move the needle 1/100th of 1 % in your blood serum. The only significant study done concerning D3 was research conducted back in the 20's and 30's on how to use D3 to cure ricketts. The eventual max dose out of that study was 400 IU was safe but since 100 IU would shut down Ricketts that became the maximum dose. I was fortunate (unfortunate?) to develop some health issues last year and the data I was seeing and the results I observed on my own body led me to start really probing. I found a couple of doctors that were chasing the same ball. Please keep in mind that the risk of getting slammed by the rest of the medical community (in a legal and professional way) are so great that in general Docs keep their mouths shut and heads down. But, they were seeing the same results in very unofficial tests. To underscore how severe the D3 issue is, my feeling that if a few really well funded studies (free of interference and retribution) were to be conducted, I think the new RDA for D3 would be somewhere in the 10,000 IU range. Please, please please do not rush out and start doing crazy amounts of anything unproven. The results of my experimentation and that of a few others scattered about the country are not any kind of statistics at all. TO drive this home further, 8 years ago my wife was diagnosed with a very rare and specific cancer. Thankfully she is cancer free now but she is paying a really heavy price in the physical realm for the daily chemo pills she takes. She and I both think if she were to get aggressive with large doses of D3 she would be able to stop the chemo treatment immediately. However, at this moment, we are in 100% agreement that we are unwilling to take the gamble. Maybe in another year assuming I don't float off in a D3 induced haze... I'm doing much better (ironically with respect to another health issue I'm having) but mega D3 was not the only change I made all at once. And, 1 does not a statistic make. If you can stomach the reading without playing tag with semis do the research. It is out there albeit in extremely small amounts. If nothing else, if all this covid crap gets us on the right path with D3 it may be worth the pain. I rarely enter these types of threads. I find very little room to move either side of an issue and really, I'm here for the lead therapy. Thanks, Mark.

I've looked for a 32 for quite a while. If the Gen 5 23 does show up soon I'm buying a barrel and calling it good...

went to the store this evening. Didn't plan to but we are participating in a zoom dinner tomorrow night and we decided to splurge a little. Shelves were decently stocked. Was in and out in just a few minutes. 3rd visit in 2 months. Grayfox54 it sounds like you could do with a bottom of the line food saver. By those family packs to save money. Wild yeast is easy to harvest in our area. YouTube is your friend for that. Mark

We got back on about 4:00 today. Overall it wasn't too bad. I do need a better plan for temp power to our water pump.
