1. I'll see if I can swing it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
2. I get too many feather puffs with the el cheapos. Last year I ran the AA Heavy Targets the first part of season and killed a high percentage of birds. I ran out and switched to low brass cheapos and got too many fly offs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
3. TWRA will start posting fields in the next few days. Many will get confirmed this weekend.    Usually AEDC has a few dove fields.    Unfortunately, there just aren't as many good pay hunts anymore. I drove by a sunflower field today that I'd give 100.00 to hunt opening day. It was covered with birds.
4. Yesterday I watched 4 deer cross my yard... followed by 6 raccoons. I am pretty sure they were tracking the deer down to warn them to "get off their territory."
5.
I picked up a Savage 93 new from my local dealer this afternoon. I'll give it a try in a few days and let you know how it turns out. It looks o.k. for a cheap gun.
I have had two 93's, one before the accu-trigger and now one with it. I have a weaver rimfire scope on mine and it's a tack driver. No squirrel within 75 yards wants to poke his head out when that gun is in the woods. I replaced the plastic trigger guard with a metal one. Shoots Winchester Super X the best. Edit to add: if you find Fiocchi 40gr stuff my Savage shoots it great. Otherwise, stick with Winchester Super X 40gr either HP or solids. Neither of mine have never shot CCI or Federal well. Never shot the 50 or 30 grain stuff well either.
6. Look for a tent that has a rain fly that goes all the way to the ground. A fly that stops half way down will eventually leave you wet.
7. I got plenty of raccoon pics on mine...
8. Maybe we will have a cool fall this year... probably not.
9. Guess I better shoot some this weekend. Still not feeling amped about season. I do have a couple "possibles" spotted on velvet.
10. I have 3 or 4. Used them to maintain sanity in Florida swamps.
11.
Where are they located? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Exit 11 in Clarksville
12. I'll add that a crossbow is a great way to get younger kids out in the woods during bow season. You can use a shooting stick and a ground blind and greatly increase their chance of success. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
13. Well unless you are going to put in the time to shoot a compound well, then just go for the crossbow. The only real downside I see is the shot noise and follow up issue. The crossbow is a lot easier to master. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
14. Bout that time... Ticks, chiggers and deer. :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
15. I have the old town angler 10 and it is heavy, but tracks well. I float/fish moving waters for the most part, so I am not concerned with crossing Old Hickory with it. My kid has a Perception Swifty 9.5. Good inexpensive floating boat. We use ours a lot. My buddy is 5'9" and about 300 pounds and fishes out of an Old Town like mine. Plenty of room. The old town Vapor is the same as the Angler, just the bells and whistles change. The sit on tops are nice for summer fishing, but I like the sit ins better for year round. Check out a website called Yakangler if you are looking for high end options. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

17. Y'all are welcome to argue about caliber choice all you like, but keep in mind there are various hunting styles when it comes to hog hunting. If the hunter is hunting over bait, which is legal in many states where hog populations are high, then it take far less gun to result in a clean kill. If the hunter is on the ground, spot and stalk type hunting, then carry a big bore thumper. I have hunted both ways. Hunting over a corn pile is more akin to grocery shopping for me. Not that I am opposed to it, but it isn't that difficult of an undertaking. You can sit in a blind, 40 yards off the pile, steady rest and ensure clean kills with smaller caliber guns. Walking through palmettos and kicking up a big angry sow is a different story. If you haven't hunted in palmettos in a pine forest, then you may not fully understand the limited sight distance involved. I've had hogs pop up at less than 10 yards on many occasions. I want a big bore pistol for those hunts.
18.   Great info! Thanks Doc! I appreciate knowing the possible risk.    I hope everyone is cautious about using this. Personally, I feel better about my exposure to this than the increased risk of tick bites without it. If you are like me, in the woods all spring and all fall, then you know how bad ticks are. This past turkey season makes 4 or 5 years in a row that I have made it through a season without a tick bite. The previous years all resulted in tick bites and sometime multiple tick bites, despite the use of OFF and similar products.
19.
I don't want to come across as the grammar police, but all the references to .5% and .625% should be 5.0% and 6.25% respectively. Since it's a poison, I thought it would be worth pointing this out. I appreciate the info from whiskey and I have a bag of Permethrin dust I might use on my garden.
Nope. I had the percentages correct. Half of one percent is the correct mixture. 5% may kill you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

21.
Duke
Best dog name ever. I have 3 females. Suzy, Beanie and Libby. My kid named them all. I call them Sue, Bean and Lib. I want one syllable names for dogs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
22. I floated the Red river this afternoon to do a little fishing. The river had a little different feel today after it claimed a life yesterday. A man and his fiancé were canoeing and tipped, neither wearing vests. He didn't surface. I wear mine, please wear yours. You never know when it will be required to save you. Still managed to enjoy a great afternoon and caught a few keeper size brim. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
23. Do you mean to remove the chip/ash pan on the inside and then pull the round chip loader out about an inch to open up the air flow? That makes sense to me because I have oxygen issues burning chips in mine. I usually end up having to pull the chip loader out on occasion anyway.
24. I am strictly a line wetter. I like to fish, I don't love to fish.
25. Wish this was north of Nashville. Sounds like a sweet deal. Good luck.
