  1. If it's an option financially, you may want to look at putting up some feeders during the off season. They can be effective at drawing deer back to your property and holding them there. It can be expensive though. Corn is nearly 10.00 per 50 pounds around here. I have a couple that I will start up after the youth hunt, but I am mostly interested in drawing and holding turkey for the for the spring season.
  2. I have tried to be an Outpost customer on a couple of occasions, but their customer service has caused me to leave without buying anything every single time. I am picky about what I want, so when I find what I am looking for, I am usually ready to buy. The only thing that stops me is poor customer service. My wife won't shop with me because I make such a point of being treated like a valued customer. I don't want anything discounted, I just want service. If I don't get it, I ain't buying from your company.
  3. I've had a couple of those over the years. Don't be discouraged. Devote some time during the off season to finding a better place to hunt, placing some trail cameras, and learning the travel pattern of the deer.
  4. Awesome. Looks like some turkey killing power there.
  5. Not exactly right, George Dickel is also a Tennessee Whisky, and better than Jack.
  6. Glad you are happy with it. After all, that's what counts. I have a lot of bags but I usually just toss my stuff in a cheap walmart backpack. I like it cause it's quite material and is light weight. I like to keep my stuff in a bag because I forget things I want if I have to pack pockets every morning in my half sleep state.
  7. Load'em up and lay'em down. I'm still trying to figure out how to connect this banana clip to my muzzleloader.
  8. My RAT3 came with a crappy sheath too. I had a leather one made for me by a friend, so now it carries higher and tighter. It's a great camp/trail knife. It may be heavier than you need, but it's popular for good reason. It's a good knife. I like the moras too.
  9. This really is an amazing self-portrait... If you miss the pig snarling at you, just keep going and you will find WD snarling at you.
  10. I have used a guy in Dechard, can't remember the name, but he did me good. I'll get the name for you.
  11. I have tried to sit in these type seats without success. These first came out as camping/concert/park seats. We got a couple years ago and I never could get comfortable in one. Maybe if it was used in conjunction with a tree and a turkey vest cushion I could see it working out for me.
  12. Leupold, Nikon, Burris, Zeiss, Bushnell, ect. They are all quality scopes if you buy one in the 300 to 500 dollar range. I have a Nikon Prostaff and a Bushnell Elite and I have been happy with both. I think the Bushnell Elite scopes are a good value that get overlooked.

    Ever eaten Dog?

Cabron is usually slang, Cabra is usually goat. Cabrito is good. We used to bbq a young goat every year when I was a kid. There was an annual volunteer firemen's dinner and it always included different foods. Carbrito, chittlins, fried mountain oysters (both hog and rooster) deer, quail, dove, rabbit, raccoon, wild ducks, wild turkey, turtles, fish, crawdads, ect. As of the the few kids that ever attended, I was constantly tested to see what a kid would eat. They would first try to gross me out with some chittlins, but when that didn't phase me they would start with the spicy hot stuff. It definitely expanded my horizons.

    Ever eaten Dog?

Why do I even go to the trouble of opening and reading threads started by this guy.... I know a gunsmith that has enough dog to feed us all for a week or so, but that may actually be closer to horse meat once they are big enough to saddle. Would you rather eat a pet dog or a wild coyote? It can't be any worse than chittlins or mountain oysters and I have eaten both of them.
  15. It would take a lot for me to shoot a dog in the woods. I have shot stray dogs chasing our livestock when I was a kid. I have shot stray dogs that growled at us in our yard. I haven't ever thought about shooting a dog in the woods for messing up a hunt. I have had dogs ruin a couple turkey hunts and give them a 80 yard pepper to keep them gone, but I wouldn't want to kill them. I guess hunting is less important to me, cause I would never impose the final punishment on someones hunting dog or family pet for the sake of better hunting. Feral dogs are another story, but without knowing for sure, the dog would get the benefit of the doubt.
  16. ....or.... don't lay our loaded shotgun on the bow of the boat, pointed at your butt...
  17. Sorry for your loss. Prayers sent.
  18. First, I recommend that you read through the WMA regs for whichever one you decide to hunt. Each WMA has different regulations that may or may not align with the state regs. Some allow rifles, some only archery, some only small game. It is important to know the differences for the one you are going to hunt. You can find these on the TWRA website. There is lots of good public hunting in Tennessee. You will have to work a little harder to get a quality deer or to get to the woods where other hunts aren't.
  19. Here is a good deal on a used S&W. Maybe you can find one to see how he likes it. Smith & Wesson model 64 38Spl 4in stainless steel revolver, used, very good condition S&W
  20. Entrepreneurial ideas are spinning all about my brain...
  21. Back during the summer my wife took me to look at a house she wanted us to buy. The backyard went down to river flood plain and there were deer everywhere in the backyard. There were 3 bucks bedded in front yard. I told her I didn't need to see anymore. I wanted the house. We didn't buy it. My wife hates me.
