    Glock 1911????

I had one in .50 Beowulf, but it completly vaporised every tango I slotted with it. Too noisy & shiny to be uber tactical & I could only get 17 bullets in the clip.
  2. Now I have GOT to get me one of them!
  3. I bought a C9 last year. It's a definite love/hate thing for me. I love the ergonomics (with a Hogue slip on grip) It fits me just about better than anything. I love how it shoots, very accurate, very low recoil (due to the weight, I guess) I love how easy it is to maintian, throw it back in the toolbox after every range session & it still functions flawlessly! I love the fact that it just works, all the time, every time. I hate the single stack magazine & low capacity. I hate the fact that it weighs slightly more than my truck. I hate the fact that it simply will not reliably feed hollowpoints, no matter what brand or what I do to the magazine lips. It simply adores American Eagle FMJ Flat nose though. It sees a lot of action with the AE FMJs too. I believe I've got over 1000 shots through it now with maybe 1 or 2 FTE (In all fairlness, probably me wobbly-wristing it though) I've never had a single FTF using it & it'll pop a Coke can at 20 yrds all day long. All in all, I give mine an 8/10 Very good gun, but could be better in a few key areas. I would definately, 100%, however, rely on it working if & when I ever needed it to. It lives on my nightstand & I sleep like a baby.
  4. I'll take the first deer that comes close enough, that isn't a fawn or small buck. I'm trying to manage my little property for good bucks & a good herd balance, so more than likely it'll be a doe, followed by more does. I'd like to get a rack on the wall this year, but I'm not going to draw on anything less than a good 8 point
  5. Dude. Al Quaeda squirrels. Be warned.
  6. Can't believe no-one's mentioned the Winchester Wildcat! Beautiful, if small framed, classic styled rifle with phenominal accurracy right out of the box. Comes with 1 five round & 3 ten round mags as standard. I bought one brand new 2 years ago & my first 10 shots, after sighting in, could be covered by a dime at 50 yds. It's happy shooting any kind of LR ammunition you can cram up it. The trigger is not the best (although on the Target model, it's supposed to be much better & adjustable) but it's OK for a sub-$200 rifle. As a side story; A friend of mine was bragging on his 10/22 & it being better than my cheap Wildcat. I offered him a 'put up, or shut up' shoot off. We set up a bench & put out a target at 30yds. He shot his group of 5 & we marked the shots. I took up my Winchester & rather than aiming for the bull, I aimed for each individual bullet hole his Ruger had made (I told him I was doing this) 3 out of 5 turned his holes into figure 8s, one was off it's hole but toutching edges, one went right through without making the hole bigger. We traded rifles & did the same thing with pretty much the same result. He now owns a 'cheap Wildcat'
  7. Probably why I hunt on my own
  8. Someone who has the same kind of ethical standards as me, someone that thinks 'close enough' or 'good enough' is neither close, nor good enough. Someone who isn't out to kill everything & doesn't necesarrily deem a hunt a failure if they haven't killed something. The kind of person comfortable enough with me, that I'd be the first person they'd think to call at midnight to help trail or drag a deer. The kind of person that would trail a deer 'til midnight or later, because it's the right thing to do
  9. Antlered limit is 3 per season & only one antlered deer, per day Antlerless limit in unit L is 3 per day, no season limit.
  10. Again, you're SOL bud. Private land hog-hunting is no longer allowed, unless you are the landowner, or he has the correct exemption certificate to allow you to hunt as his 'Assistant' The really, really confusing thing, is thatte TWRA have de-listed hogs as a Game species & made them a nuisance species. To my mind, nuisance species means no season, no limit (It certainly does in every other State....) here however, it seems to mean the exact opposite!?!?!?!? Are the regs written by someone who got here on a floating door? Makes you wonder...
  11. As much as I hate the new regs, from a hunting point of view, historically & practically, ceasing all private land hog hunting (as opposed to eradication) has worked exceptionally well in Kansas for controlling the hog numbers. If there's no market for them to be hunted commercially, there's much less chance of 'escapees' from hunting ranches. People will have no reason to import hogs ont their own property, solely to hunt. One thing does concern me, however. What's going to happen with all the Outfitters that offer private land hog hunting? Where do the TWRA think those hog populations will end up? If it was me, I think I'd be hard pressed NOT to release my stock onto TWRA land, just out of spite for losing the business. But there again, I can be a spiteful bastard at times. I've read the regs on this several tims & I still can't figure out if it's OK to whack a pig if I'm deer hunting in, say, Fall Creek Falls and one wanders by.
  12. Thanks tnsyty! Now, how'd you get one on a hook?
  13. I see a heck of a lot of turtles whilst out bowfishing at night. Softshells, & snappers make for some real good eating. Can we legally hunt them in TN?
  14. I never put mine away I try & shoot at last 2 dozen arrows a day, every day. Gotta stay in practice when you shoot without sights!
  15. Regularly! Unfortunately, season's over for another year. You get about 4 weeks from the end of May, through June & that's it for the year. If you want the real scoop, send a PM to 'Spurhunter' He's the MAN when it comes to Noodlin' He guides clients on grapplingtrips all through June.
  16. I've just re-discovered the pleasures of casting a fly, after a 20+ year layoff & I'm looking for places close to me to fish. I just spent last weekend catching little brookies & rainbows up in the Smokies, but I don't feel like having to drive 3 + hours every time I wanna go fish!
  17. George. Once you've tried Dickel, it makes Jack taste like drain cleaner.
  18. I moved here from the UK, two years ago & everything these guys have said is true. 'Sir & Ma'am' go a long way as do; 'Please, Thank you & You're Welcome' Driving in the country is a lesson in relaxation, the city, not so much. Turn signals are indeed, optional (as are brake lights, bumpers, windshields & tailgates) Allergy avoidance; Don't go with meds that have the warning; ' Take 2 pills every 4 to 6 hours as needed' What you're looking for is a Warning label that reads 'Take one & brace yerself!' Everything you'll ever need can be found at any country Gas Station. Grits are optional, despite what everyone will tell you! Everyone really is as friendly as you think. It ain't an act! When someone says 'Y'all have a good day now!' They really want you to have a great day! Distance is always measured in time. 40 miles means nothing. Depending on the route, 40 miles could be anything from 30 minutes to an hour-and-a-half. You can't get a seat at ANY restaurant on a Sunday between 11 & 1 o'clock without a 30 minute wait. Oh, and the opening day of Dove season is a State Holiday.
  19. I know, good isn't it! I am legally classed as a resident of TN (I guess so that I can legally pay all the taxes ) but I am not a permanent US resident. Believe me, after 5 years worh of legal paperwork & having lived here for 2 years, I still don't understand all the ins & outs of it all!
  20. No, non resident aliens can buy & legally own firearms. We just can't carry them, it seems. I've bought long guns & pistols over the counter, passed all the background checks & everything with no trouble at all. Tennessee is my legal & sole residence, so I would guess an out of State permit is a no-no too.
  21. *sigh* I wish Non immigrant aliens are not eligible to apply. I'm a British citizen living over here on a non-immigrant visa. I'd dearly love, with all my heart, to become a US Citizen, but the US government won't allow it.
  22. Thanks folks, that's exactly what I thought.
  23. I've been under the impresson that as a non-permit holder, I could not carry a firearm on a day-to-day basis at all. A friend of mine (& several other folks recently) have told me that I'm wrong & that I can open carry without a permit. A permit is only needed for concealed carry. Now, I'm about 99% sure they're wrong (I thought TN did not discern, legally, between open or concealed) but I'd like confirmation please. I have no real need to carry all the ime (& I honestly wouldn't be comfortable with open carry anyway) but there are times & places where I'd really like to be able to, as long as I'm not breaking any laws. Can someone clarify this for me please. I'm not familiar with the laws & statutes at all.
  24. Load of old monkey plop. There's loads of online reviews of these things. They don't do anything.
