Good to know, thanks Dol. Nicky, you have caused irreparable mirth in the Tattoo household! No plant pot is safe :D

Just checked his status to see when he was last online & he's been banned. SO...... whoever was supposed to get their gift from Rebeldrummer, if it hasn't arrived, that's probably your reason.

I haven't heard from my giftee. He hasn't posted in this thread & I'm just really hoping the Post Office got it there.

What type of welding? MIG, TIG, Gas or Arc (MMA)? For general home projects, MIG welding will give you the most versatility. I welded for 14 years, 99% of that was mild & stainless MIG. If you have access to a machine, some scrap & 15 minutes I can show you everything you'll ever need to know about MIG welding! The actual welding bit is easy to learn, but getting good takes practice. Lots & lots of practice. In my experience, the difference between a poor welder, a good welder & a great welder is time behind the mask. If you decide to buy a MIG welder for home use, the main thing to remember (actually, the ONLY thing to remember) is Amps. Lots & lots of amps! You may only ever need to weld at a 120A rating, but a 250A machine running at 120 will always, always run smoother & cleaner than a 120A machine running flat out. All machines will weld low amperage, but thicker material requires higher output. Generally speaking, higher amperage machines will also have far better internal & external components. A good liner, good rollers & a good wire tensioner system are vital to a good, clean run. The ability to change between wire sizes is an advantage, but 0.8mm wire will do just about anything you'll ever encounter. Oh, and at all costs, avoid 'Gasless, flux-core' wire & the welders that will run it. It's passable if you need to repair something outside in a high wind, but even under perfect lab conditions, still produces a crappy weld with very little penetration & lots of spatter. If outdoor work is your thing, a cheap MMA (Arc or stick welding) machine will serve you a lot better.

Don't see why not! I often really enjoy a Backwoods :D

I just refreshed my humidor. My preference is for Curidad Sumatrans, but I'm a very occasional smoker, maybe one a month.

What changes would you like to see for 2013/14?

I honestly think you'd be surprised how many folks actually do hunt with proper, primitive muzzleloaders. -
Come about 45 minutes south on 24 & visit the George Dickel distillery, another 20 minutes & there's Jack Daniel's. I think you can get a tour of the Barrett factory?

I still haven't had the chance to get mine mailed out Partly because The Wife is in Noo Yawk & has left me running the business, partly because, yes, I'm bone frikkin' idle, but mostly because I keep looking at it & thinking '**** you, I'd really like this!'

Hey, it don't have to be true to be funny! Duck Dynasty anyone??? -
Saw this on another forum & thought it was a very interesting topic. I'd really like to see hogs put back on the menu, but with one caveat: You'd need a special/extra license to hunt them on TWRA property. It may put off the 'transport to hunt' mob, whilst still allowing those of us with the itch to be allowed to go kill a few on public land. Also an extra period of bow only, between Muzzleloader & gun season, extending the overall season to the last Sunday in January & drop/modify the doe restrictions in unit A.

Any motorbikeists in the audience? . . . .
I see no reason to delete it. I may look into that video. Its made by the Dept of game and fisheries so its probably a good how to video.
It really, really is! The only way I could imagine a better way to learn, would to actually have someone stand over you & tell you what to do. The really cool thing is that it's done in real time with NO cuts for editing. If you have a portable DVD player you can actually watch & cut along.

(I hope it's OK to post this link.) I bought this $12 DVD a few years ago from Virginia's Dept of Game & Fisheries & it has saved myself a many of my friends hundreds if not thousands of dollars in processing fees. It is on of the most well thought out, detailed & above all simple to follow tutorials I've ever seen. The DVD goes from field to table, showing every cut made of every cut of meat from the deer. It is so simple to follow, after watching it I had a friend's 11 year old daughter butcher her own deer! A Professional Guide to Field Dressing, Skinning & Butchering White-tailed Deer This is seriously the BEST money I've ever spent on hunting.

[background=rgb(247, 247, 247)]I took a quick walk with my 1895 this afternoon. Only the second time I've had it out in the woods. The scope was mounted at 1 o'clock this afternoon & only took 10 shots to get on the money at 50yds. I know it was a bit of a risk taking her, but the woodland I'm hunting rarely if ever offers farther shot opportunities & I have enough self control to keep my shots close. I had it sighted in by 1:30, hit the woods at 2:30 & had him in the back of the truck by 3:15! I wish it was always this easy! Meh. I bought one a while ago. Didn't come with the Magnificent Seven-esque theme tune. Sent it back. -
Got mine ordered today, should have it mailed out early next week.
