  1. Has anyone ever, or does anyone know of anyone who has, had a barrel turned down/re-profiled? I'm considering having the barrel on my .280 Ackley re-profiled. Right now it is very nose heavy. It's sporting a 26" barrel, which I really don't want to shorten so I can keep the velocity up, but it's a pretty heavy profile. It was ordered as a Savage Sporter profile but it's more like a Magnum. There's plenty of meat that could be taken off without compromising it's integrity, I'm just not sure: a.) whether it'd be worth it & b.)where I could go to have it done. I know it's a fairly basic lathe job, but I'm thinking it's going to have to be stress relieved after turning (maybe?)
  2. My greatest, greatest regret in life (so far...) is that I didn't take one single photo of my time in. Between Northern Ireland, Bosnia & Germany, plus all the regular banter & mateship stuff it would've made a great album. I wasn't in for long, but I'm proud of my stint & wish I had some more mementos.
  3. Can I get a do over? I want this back for WD zombies..... Silenced Air Arms S410 It's a 10 shot, magazine fed .22 air rifle I had on my fire arms license back in the UK. When I say "silenced" I'm not kidding. When you pulled the trigger, all you heard was the 'tic' of valve opening. At 50yds, I'd be happy taking a headshot with it. Also, in a dinosaur/zombie crossover situation (why don't we toss in zombie dinosaurs, just to be sporty ) Imma want something that the phrase 'cyclic rate' applies to.
  4. It should just have 2 through bolts. Remove the lower bolt & The unit 'should' come free. It's easier if you swear at it a lot. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  5. You're more than welcome. Too good to miss out on! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  6. Oh well, if you're talking zombies..... First choice would be my Osage long bow. Basically indestructible, replaceable in under 6 hours (as long as I have a knife to whittle with). Unlimited ammunition (there are sticks & rocks EVERYWHERE!) can be used like a spear, staff, walking stick or pike. It's absolutely silent, quick to reload & super light to carry (5oz) Second choice.... Fully silenced (what class 3?) .22 lever gun.
  7. Lever action .30-30. Winchester or Marlin (Probably Marlin for the scope options) Can & will take anything I'd ever come across, regardless of leg-count. Happy to be loaded super light with round balls for tiny game or heavy for big game. Totally happy with black powder, in case that ever became important..... Short, light, ever so handy. It's almost like an AR, but for grown ups
  8. Wouldn't be my first choice, to be honest. Yeah, it'll do it....but range is kinda limited (NM ram....) & it's anemic compared to even a .308 I'd probably use whatever you're planning on taking for elk. Black bears don't take a huge amount of stopping, but they also don't bleed much as their fur is super absorbent. You really need 2 holes to be sure.
  9. If anyone was holding off due to concerns regarding the minimum order amount, the 10 grand threshold was met last week, so all order will be honored at the 25% discount rate.
  10. I managed to squeeze another day in my friend's workshop today. Got a bunch done. 5 blades profiled, ground to 120 grit & soaking in in the oven as I type this. Cobbled together a quick belt holster for my NAA magnum this afternoon too!
  11. This is ongoing until the 30th, for those that hadn't seen it yet
  12. Personally, I would rather shove live wasps up my arse. But, I have to deal with a TON of rude, ignorant, out-of-state Bonnaroonians every year, who think that it's perfectly acceptable to pull their RVs into my parking lot at 3 o'clock, Monday morning & then knock on my door so they can collect their dog from the kennel. Answering the door naked, angry & carrying a shotgun discourages this behavior.......
  13. Awesome. Now I'll have to navigate through Murfreesboro for reloading supplies....
  14. Shouldn't be an issue, I just spoke to my bud this morning & between us & a couple of others we've got well over a grand's worth! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  15. http://www.rokslide.com/forums/showthread.php?46044-Atlas-cooler-25-discount-group-buy-now-open-june-1-june-30 Details at the above link. Basically it's a group-buy discount code, open to anyone. It takes an extra 25% off the sale price of any Alas product EXCEPT the cheapest tumblers. It's very specific as to how it works & it MUST be followed to the letter, but for the savings, it's absolutely worth it! I'm in for 2 80qt coolers & possibly a 30 & I have a good friends joining my order with a 2 65qt + a 115. There had been huge interest on the Rokslide forum & the guy who has arranged this has put in a TON of work. If anyone is considering buying a better quality cooler but is on the fence regarding price....this might just tip you over the edge! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  16. If anyone's on instagram here, this guy is definitely worth following.
  17. 'pologies, the Cabelas cooler is 40qt. http://www.fieldandstream.com/articles/fishing/2016/03/ice-chest-throwdown-12-top-end-coolers-ranked-and-reviewed
  18. Cabelas also make one (I think 65qt) under their own name that scores amazingly well compared to much more spendy affairs... I'll see if I can find the link to a review Field & Stream did.
  19. These guys are fairly new to the scene, but have been garnering a LOT of interest on the rokslide forum. I'm in on a group buy for an 80qt cooler https://www.atlascoolers.com/
  20. It's the sternum strap. It enhances my moobs. Also, stop objectifying me! I'm more than just eye candy dammit!
  21. Oh, I'll be carrying my .308 too. This is for an elk hunt backup. Just in case. I'm not concerned in the least about walking up on a bear, I'm more concerned about a bear walking up on me if I happen to find myself elbows deep in elk innards!
