  1. Post the guy's phone number & how much you offered him. I'm sure that 5 or 6 of us would be willing to call & offer a few hundred under what you offered I don't know what the reverse of shilling is.....but that.
  2. Kifaru Gunbearer. https://store.kifaru.net/mobile/gun-bearers-p30.aspx
  3. Been using it for a couple of years now. The scent direction thingy is handy, but the major/minor feed times feature & moon phase is priceless. I've found it to be accurate about 99% of the time for feed times & I use it habitually as an indicator of when I need to be on stand (like, right now. So I am )
  4. A.) It vastly reduced production costs. Plus keeping fixed heads sharp through packing, storage, distribution & rattling around on shelves for years is insanely difficult. B.) The manufacturers assumption is that you'll shoot them into targets before you ever hunt with them, so they'd need to be resharpened to hunt anyway (And rightly so....) The only folks I know of that make a practice fixed blade (with non replaceable blades) is Montec.
  5. It's perfectly normal with a lot of fixed blade broadheads with non-removable blades. Hellrazors, Montec G5s, Magnus, Woodsman.... they all need work before they're hunting ready. They're worth the effort though. Much tougher heads than replaceable blades.
  6. The last place I'd ever go for butchering classes is any kind of processor. Deer processing is a volume gig. The quicker they can get through deer, the more money they make. I don't mean this as a slight, it's just how it is in the meat cutting business. A processor isn't ever going to tell you exactly how to separate individual muscles, what each muscle is used for & how to cut it correctly. Mostly, they're bandsaw butchers. The Virginia Fish & Game folk put out (or at least, used to put out) a very well made 'field to freeze' dvd for about $20. It's literally a butcher-along. I have mine away some time ago, otherwise I'd gladly let you have it. It's without a doubt the best $20 I ever spent on hunting gear.
  7. Joe Rogan Experience, MeatEater with Steven Rinella, Keep Hammering with Cameron Hanes Gritty Bowmen, Hunt Talk Radio with Randy Newberg & Hunt Backcountry. That's pretty much my entire play list!
  8. You should be issued your shotgun & marlin 336 upon arrival in the state. I moved here from England 7½ years ago (you think you've had it bad.....) & bought my first firearm through an FFL 92 days later. The whole process took me about 15 minutes. It still amazes me to this day how uncomplicated Tennessee makes it to buy through a store & private sales are exactly the same as buying anything else!
  9. Can anyone point me in the direction of a good radio app for my cellphone? I've just had a bluetooth stereo fitted in the old truck, after years of being tired of constantly searching for stations when I drive across the country......or to Chattanooga. I'm looking for something that just plays regular stations (rock, preferably)
  10. Mm hmm....me too! Sent from a mountain somewhere, using telepathy.
  11. I found the insights thoroughly enlightening, to be honest.
  12. Dammit. Should've hung around for an hour. 8 openers & I've never hit my limit! Sent from a mountain somewhere, using telepathy.
  13. Oh crap. I cancelled my order Tuesday through the site. I'm going to run to the bank later & fill out a dispute form. Hopefully Master Card can pull it back.....
  14. I shot at a private field outside of Pikeville with 8 friends. None of us limited out, but we all got close. I managed 13. Best opener to date! At 12 o'clock it was like someone had opened a cage. A flock of maybe 300 came through right on the whistle. We had great action right up until 4pm & then it just died. There were 95 shooters all told & 14 of them hit their limit before 2pm.
  15. Thanks for the offer Mrsmonk, but there still way beyond my price range! A friend of mine is the sales manager for Orion Sent from a mountain somewhere, using telepathy.
  16. Problem being Rtic don't sell coolers in the size I was wanting & the nearest to it is twice the price.
  17. Yep, I pulled the plug too. Honestly guys, I'm really sorry. I know y'all did what you wanted, but I can't help but feel responsible for dragging you all into this. It seemed like such a good deal at the time. The discount wasn't unrealistic, as in; it didn't 'feel' too good to be true. I'm guessing the guy probably set out with the best intentions but has just been swamped with orders he can't fulfill. Just like R-Tic did. Arse.
  18. At last, someone's had an email response! It ain't good though..... "Hi,We have been trying to respond to everyone as quickly as possible and understand everyone's frustration with the Rokslide group buy.* We did not expect the delays that came from our manufacturing and shipper which has caused backlog for all customers not just Rokslide. This was a first and last of a kind for us on the Group buy due to the issues that arose.ALL rokslide orders and all online cooler orders and Tritan series are pushed out to 12-18-16.* The only tumblers available are the twisted tumblers.* We have orders that are backed up for one of our large retail accounts that we have to fill in order to keep them as we have given them lead times that keep changing also.We are as frustrated as our customers because we can't get inventory fast enough and have to keep pushing out datesPlease feel free to cancel order at any time you are ready as we do understand why. (Login to account and cancel or send us email with cancellation request)Just an FYI the person who set this up for Rokslide is not at fault as when setting this up we did not realize the issues that would come up.Thank you,Candice WatersonAtlas CoolersPO Box 2432Fredericksburg, TX 78624sales@atlascoolers.com"
  19. Can't help you on the field thang, but cooking....... Marinate in soy sauce & Chinese 5 spice for 2 hours. Stir fry with sugar snap peas, bamboo shoots, water chestnut & baby corn for 2 minutes, lower the heat & add the marinade plus 4tbsp of sugar & 3 of honey. Cook for 10 minutes or until the sauce is reduced & sticky. Stir in ½tsp of chili flakes, 2tsp sesame oil & garnish with white sesame seeds & cilantro. Put that on your head & your tongue'll beat your brains out to get to it.
  20. I hate that I got you guys involved in this, I'm really, really sorry. I really don't know what the hell's going on. The 'Where's my order' page is now redirecting to the 'account login' page & when I login to my account, my order history is blank. When I go to the store page, the 80qt coolers are showing that they're "expected to ship on September 15th" I think I've been about as patient as I can be. A few of the guys from Rokslide have cancelled their orders & received refunds within a few days. I tried calling the owner this morning with, obviously, no reply & his voicemail box is full. Obviously, it's completely up to you what you want to do, whether you want to stick it out & hope for the best or cancel your order. I'm going to tough it out, even though I'm no longer expecting the coolers to show before I leave for Wyoming. Again, I'm really sorry for dragging you all into this fiasco.
  21. If we do Georgia it'll have to be muzzleloader, Florida should be any weapon. They have weird regs that mean you have to tie in to the rules for other seasons on public land. Florida allows any weapon in certain areas, year round. Georgia you have to use 'small game season' weapons ie: rimfire or (handily..) ANY muzzleloading firearm. And Shane & I are flintlock freaks so.....
