  1. It seems like it's shooting pretty well with the abbreviated TMKs, anyway. 2" for 10 rounds was about the best I could get, running at an average of 2488fps. Being that it's going to be a 250yd rifle, that would do, but I'll be a lot happier if I can get closer to 1½" for 10 rounds. The trigger is very much not helping. A 4lb trigger in a 4¼lb rifle is no bueno. I've ordered myself a LaRue MBT-2S to try out. There's a definite learning curve to shooting something this ethereal, but this Timney is killing me! My next option is a Jard, either 1½ or 2½lb, but I can't find any kind of consistent reviews on them & I don't think I know anyone who uses one. The problems I've read about them double or triple firing are negated by this being a non-semiauto, but I was still loathe to part with $150 on a whim. I know the LaRue is good, just not sure if I can get used to a 2 stage.
  2. Addendum: Since putting this together, I've shot it a bunch! However, I realized that I really don't need 3 .223s & Wyoming has a minimum of .24 caliber for elk. So I rebuilt the thing with a Solo300 upper & Wilson Combat .300 Ham'r barrel. I'm still waiting on my thread protector to arrive, but initial testing is showing a LOT of promise with both 130gr Speer Hot-Cor & Sierra 125gr TMKs, both shooting around 1.25" for 10 rounds. In leaning heavily towards the TMK for this year's cow hunt, my only concern being that I have to clip the tip to be able to fit them in the mag. They were designed for the .300BLK & I'm reliably informed that they work perfectly at Ham'r velocities (2510fps) Clipping the tip may cost me an inch or so of penetration, but should still do what it needs to above 1700fps, which is way beyond my comfortable hunting range. I'm really hoping to live test a couple on pigs before October. I did add a couple of inches of flip flop sole to my butt plate. I was finding the LOP to be short anyway, but the Ham'r recoil is.... brisk in a 4lb gun & the dampening is very welcome!
  3. BCA have an awesome sale on right now. There are several 16" barrel profiles at under $70! https://www.bearcreekarsenal.com/guns-parts/ar-15/ar-15-barrels.html?product_list_order=price
  4. Did the CCI 41s sell already?
  5. $1850 picked up from Tullahoma. I also have a little home made transport cart built for it. Makes it a breeze to move around off the trailer.
  6. I did the self same thing, bank fishing near Sisters Creek in Jacksonville. I went from ankle deep to waist deep very quickly. I had to flop over at the waist to try & spread some weight & grab like hell at grass, twigs & rushes on the bank to drag myself free. Genuine panic set in after a few minutes, screaming for my buddy in the other side of the bank. He never heard a thing. It felt like it took about an hour to get free (it was probably 5 minutes, max) & I couldn't breathe when I got loose. My Chacos & broken fishing rod are still there. The thought of Bull Sharks & gators is quite the motivator to get out.
  7. If someone would buy the damn kayak, I could keep this! All I need is 2 grand!
  8. Any Warhammer 40K fans in the house?
  9. Gregg, if you buy it, I'll pay to have it chromed.

  11. That're worth about 800 bucks! Ain't screwin' with em when aftermarket are less than 2 bills & some elbow grease! A full set of good condition, original matching tins with caps, lights & fender tips is worth about 3½ GRAND right now! I'm occasionally dumb, but never knowingly stupid
  12. I may do the rocker covers at some point, certainly if I ever have to take them off. But looking at how much of a ballache it is to pull the oil tank, I think I'm going to leave it alone. A tiny bit of sparkle, here & there, isn't a terrible thing. Enhancing what's underneath. Like lingerie for motorcycles. I'm going to start to tackle the new gas tanks this weekend. My god but they're rough. I can envision having to encase the entire things in bondo, then sand it back to a tank shape And that's after I degrease, etch & line them, because they were welded up by the kid that did Greg's heat shields

  14. Welp, they've managed 25 years so far & 120 miles this afternoon!
  15. Totally forgot I had this to go with it too. Fantastic under seat storage.....
  16. They're the factory heat shields, on the headers & cross pipe. They're held on with Jubilee clips (I think you guys call em hose clamps, but y'all call everything hose clamps..... This is the ONE single American thing that after 15 years, I still get stuck on! ) The tail pipes got the same treatment as all the other chrome; wet sanded at 220, etched with Naval Jelly, etch primed & 3 top coats. I wish I could post videos here. They sound fantastic with the baffles in. With em out, it sounds like 2 kids chucking bricks into a 55 gallon drum.
  17. I'm hitting the road to Knoxville in 2 hours. I'm more than happy to throw her in the truck if anyone's interested.
