I'm no where close to being any color of authority on the platform, but I've built a couple of really low budget ARs (sub $400) & I've spent a pretty solid amount of range time behind some much higher end guns ($1000+) trying to figure out if it was worth it, to me, to invest the difference & buy a Barrett that I'd fallen in love with. Needless to say, I'm still shooting my $400 gun. Out to sensible .223/5.56 ranges (600yds) I could see absolutely no accuracy or reliability difference that made me want to spend the extra. The cynic in me is saying that, come October, I'm pretty sure my $400 gun is going to be worth a bit more, where a $1000 gun is still going to be a $1000 gun

Laugh & throw derisive comments my way, but I've got one of these OFF THE AMAZON!! mounted on my HD/hog shotgun. It's only a crapper maverick 88 but it's been fed nothing but heavy buck & slug loads. The-Little-Sight-That-Could has survived more than 200 shots without the slightest zero shift. It's your typical red/green turn the battery knob job, but I've been astonished by it's reliability & consistency. I believe it's a 4moa dot too.

Man, I'm so jealous that you guys got to be teenagers over here! I traded a Vespa P125 for my first car, back in England, in '91 . . . . 1977 Fiat 127. Arsehole brown & everything. 900cc of god-awfulness. Flat out at 60 & the damn heater didn't work. I freaking hated it.

I'm sure a lot of folks will try to talk you up to a better sight and, at some point, you'll probably want to upgrade. However.... I have that little Fieldsport red dot on my dedicated hog/HD shotgun. It's never had anything but slugs & heavy buckshot loads through it & I must say, the sight has held up FAR beyond my expectations! It's still functionally perfect after several hundred, HARD recoiling rounds. The dot isn't perfectly crisp & it's far too large for any sort of precision (4 or 6 moa, I believe) but inside of 100yds, or for CQB plate smacking, it's great!

Does anyone here have a muzzle squaring & possibly a crowning tool with a .30 caliber mandrel? I'm looking at whipping a barrel down & would like to get a completely square muzzle. I've done it before with files, but I figured the correct hand tool would be much simpler

To be fair, a single bad example can happen in any price bracket, for any item, any time. I had a Browning X-Bolt that I bought brand new & it wouldn't shoot any ammo worth a crap. Doesn't mean that all mid-price range hunting rifles are bad. It doesn't mean all Brownings are bad. It doesn't even mean that all .300wsm X-Bolts are bad! Ask it mans is that THAT one was bad. A sample of one is statistically irrelevant, I'm afraid. I guarantee you'll find that 99.9% of PSA $159 upper users are tickled pink with them.

Sooo......I've just 'acquired' one of these scopes. It's the 3.6 with the M240 reticle. Can anyone give me any info how well these work, basically, with a standard 55 or 62gn .223/5.56 round?

I'll be honest, it wasn't sure where to post this. I have a really good mate, just got back to TN from his deployment to El paso. He's looking to buy a few guns & he doesn't know of any reputable FFLs in his area. He doesn't want to travel far, so can anyone recommend a good, cheap license holder around Clarksville for transfers?

FAT wrench is the best game in town, price wise. It's not the most precise, but it's better than 'crank it until the Allen wrench flexes' I'm intrigued by the new digital job....

The only new Glock I'm ever going to get giddy over would be a single stack 10mm, the same length & hight as a 19, with the width of a 43/48.

I've been wanting to do the self same thing & I haven't found anyone in middle TN that will do it for a reasonable cost. I found one other place in California that's got a way faster turnaround (mail it Monday, guaranteed return delivery by Friday) but they're a little more spendy. Colonial have excellent reviews & from everything I can find, a great reputation.
