  1. Don't shoot strings. Make sure the barrel is cold between shots. That's....... that's pretty much it for prolonging throat life. Other than that, watch your accuracy. If you're 'average hunting' accurate you'll probably never notice throat erosion. If you can legitimately shoot benchrest, 1/4moa groups, you'll notice your groups start to open within probably 1000rnds in a RUM. However, I can't imagine shooting 1000+ rounds from a .300 ultra mag in a lifetime. Outside of a Weatherby mag & .300PRC, I don't think the are many common calibers that hurt more to shoot than a RUM in a standard stock.
  2. My business is on my property & as always I'm cranking out 80+ hour weeks. Thankfully, kennels were deemed essential, along with animal welfare & agriculture so I've managed to stay fully staffed, even though the boarding business is all but dead right now. Jules & I are prioritizing staff wages above ourselves & it's costing me about $100/day out of my own pocket to keep them going. Luckily I have enough put aside that I can keep this up for a couple of months if needed. I've been to the grocery store twice, I think, since mid March. We stocked up hard on business essentials (dog/ horse feed, bleach & disinfectant) as soon as it all went nuts. Other than that & the bank, which I can't avoid, I've not been off property.
  3. I'm afraid not Chuck. I'm still on a non- immigrant Visa, so none of that applies to me. It'll be some time yet before I can get a chance of status.
  4. FlySouth in Nashville, if I'm nearby. My go to is a little local store in Tullahoma; Tim's Flies & Lies. I also keep tails from deer I've shot, neck capes from some of my surplus roosters & I kept a 6"×6" patch of elk skin this past fall.
  5. One of the better Sig Kilos is almost impossible to beat.
  6. Follow through. It's more important than people think......
  7. *cough-cough*...... yeah. Yeah, that's exactly what I was getting at.... honest. Also, find me one other Rob in this thread. Does it hurt you that people might actually think I'm handsome? This is why we can't have children. You are SOOOO jealous. I don't know why I put up with you. I should've listened to my mother....
  8. YOU SHUT YOUR DAMN WHORE MOUTH!!! That was the first compliment I've had in 10 years!
  9. I can't remember if it was Tom Hardy or Jason Statham that played Handsome Rob, but either way.... I'll take it!
  10. I'm sooooooo changing my name to Handsome Rob right now....
  11. Sorry to be crude, but a bmg is just a dick extension.
  12. What do you consider long range? I regularly shoot 1250 with a 6.5x55 Swede, chambered in a modern Savage. 50bmg, 416, 375 cheytac & similar 'long range' chamberings are fun, but essentially useless. If you just want to clonk steel at 800+, and I hate myself for saying this, the 6.5cm is kinda hard to beat, value for money wise. It's not the best, but it's a damn good start. If I had to start again right now, I'd be looking reeeeal hard at a 6.5prc
  13. Footage just coming through from Mount Juliet Absolutely devastating news & tough to look at. I really hope everyone's ok. If anyone needs any cleanup help, I've got a truck, trailer, chainsaw & all tomorrow off work.
  14. I read the topic & my first thought was: "I dunno man, .22 seems a little light. You'll get much better penetration with a 9mm, unless the muzzle's touching her temple. Wouldn't divorce be simpler?"
  15. My accountant is Andre Costa of Padgett Business Services in Murfreesboro. I've been using them for 10 years without a complaint. https://www.padgettnashville.com/bookkeeping.html?bc=6756688727&ad=6758242840&lid=6919632159&provider=google_mobile&creativeId=156082143501&keyphrase=small business accountant&matchType=b
  16. Srsly....ish asking: does anyone in the zoomy crew actually know how to operate an actual hand-held firearm? Because my experiences dealing with the Royal Airforce would suggest no. HAAAARD no. If it's not laser guided, painted & pre-targeted, they ain't gonna hit it. The airfarce bods I had to cope with couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo, let alone a 'man at 200yds'
  17. Soooooo.......The Ramada force have finally gotten around to doing what civilians have been doing for 10 years (mostly legally...)??? And I thought the marines were behind the times on kit.
  18. Unfortunately, the forum software won't allow me to post another picture to this thread, bigger than a postage stamp (what's that all about???) But I picked up a silver model from @E4 No More this morning. I can honestly say, so far, it's as good a purchase as my 'half million round' Henry .22 I'd buy another in a heartbeat & I'd pay double the price, if my only option was a Heritage.
  19. Yessir absolutely like new. I took a brass brush to it with a smear of Hoppes & she's like new.
  20. I guess it could be, but I wasn't seeing any accuracy discrepancies that would suggest I was shaving bullets. Unless I was shaving them all. When i came to clean it, there were no flakes or anything, just a silver/grey dust.
  21. In conclusion, I really like this little thing so far. The sights are clear (if a little tall in the front) the trigger is acceptable, fit, finish & function far surpasses any other revolver I've tried in this price range & I think most of all, it's just a lot of fun to shoot!
  22. As long as your target is beyond 10yds downrange, yes.
  23. This was a little disconcerting when I first saw it. My first instinct was that the aluminum frame was already showing signs of gas-cutting. Turns out it was just some of the immense amount of residue produced by .22 ammo. Incidentally, the Aguila stuff absolutely reeks! The empty cases have an awful, chemical stench to them. Not sure how or why but......ew.
