  1. I started giggling at "Pi-hole" & completely disregarded the entire rest of the post!
  2. Thanks for that clarification. Legalese is far from being my first language!
  3. Ok, so...ummmm dumbass question here: I've been kinda on and off following this, not expecting it to pass. Does the passing of this bill mean that everyone who can legally own firearms carry, or only those who can legally hold a carry permit, carry? I ask, because as a non immigrant alien (i'm sorry if y'all are all sick of this by now) I cannot get a carry permit, but I CAN legally purchase & own firearms (NFA excluded) I want, rather, need to know if this bill means I can legally carry, or if i'm still prohibited.
  4. Unfortunately, ITAR regulations prevent me, legally, from even looking through NV or thermal scopes! Just in case i'm a spy. Seriously. Q: Is Night Vision / Thermal Legal? A: Yes, here in the United States, citizens may own and use Night Vision and Thermal Optics. However, it is against the law to take these devices out of the country for any reason. It is also against the law to allow a non-U.S. Citizen to look through these devices. Night Vision and Thermal devices fall under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations, or ITAR for short. To make a long story short, the goal here is we don’t want these powerful devices to fall into the hands of our enemies. If you have questions on any of this information, we will be happy to discuss and clarify.
  5. Unfortunately it's both fiscally & legally beyond my capabilities!
  6. Man, i really want to dip a toe in this night hunting! I reckon if I had skin in this game I could really nail a few.
  7. I've still got a .458 win on my 'need to build' list.
  8. Thanks! It's actually a Sears brand, budget model 70. The Supergrade swivels we're an expensive lesson. I didn't realize there were 2 sizes available: the original, pre-64 half inch & the later 'Uncle Mike's' size. Both mounts are about the same price at $60ish per pair, but the sling swivels?! Yeesh! $10 for good quality Uncle Mike's. $150+ per pair for originals! I ended up gambling $200 for 2 sets of swivels & selling the spares on ebay for $172, luckily!
  9. Yessir, good eye! Sears Model 52. I considered changing it the safety for a winchester, since there are no markings on the action, but I figured it made it just different enough that folks might question it. That's a damn good catch, XT!
  10. I started a thread ages ago about a guy wanting me to take his rifle to the range to zero for him..... Well, long story short, I ended up with it because I had an idea & apparently i'm an idiot with far too much time on my hands. ER Shaw, trued the action & installed a new 20" barrel. I had them copy the factory profile & chamber it in my favorite 6.5x55 Swede. The barreled action & all metal parts were then sent to GTs Customizing in Casper WY for polishing, bluing & color case hardening. I tackled the Ebay stock. Removed years worth of grime & spar varnish, hand sanded and polished it then applied the hand rubbed oil finish & installed a recoil pad. Then I shipped it to Ahlman's in Minnesota for hand checkering. I finally got a damned grip cap screw & put it all together today!
  11. Thanks for all the help guys, I really appreciate it! A couple of good friends have possibly found what I need & are going to mail them to me.
  12. .257 Roberts.
  13. Picked her up on here a couple of months back looking like this.... I picked up a bargain priced 1896 small ring stock on ebay (i'd love to say I did it with the intention of modifying the inletting, but honestly i'd had a couple of bourbons & screwed up....) It arrived yesterday & i set to work the gouges, chisels & rasps. Now she looks like this: I have the bolt with an old guy in Wisconsin getting the super short knob replaced with a traditional, butterknife handle. Once that's back it's going to Terry Walden to have scope mounts fitted. This has been a super simple-ish, classy, cheap project & the ol' gal is going to end up being my antelope, deer & coyote go to.
  14. Shot her with my .300blk, 110gn Barnes Tac-TX at 12 feet. Hit her in the neck & recovered the bullet from her offside shoulder. Dropped on the spot!
  15. Thank you! I really appreciate it. Thanks Mac, it really needs to be an inch or inch and a quarter. Don't worry, you'll see it. My sling swivels arrive today & other than this screw, that's the final thing.
  16. Chris, if you ever need to just hang out, get drunk & chat.... you've got my number brother. I'm here whenever, if ever you need me mate.
  17. I don't have family. I have work & I have this. I already put in 15 hours a day at work......
  18. I've tried Fastenall, Lowes, Home Depot, McMaster Carr, Hawkes Hardware & Tullahoma Builders Supply (who literally have everything ever made) & no. Stainless? No problem. Brass? Ten a penny. Steel? Non existant.
  19. Noooope. Has to be slotted, not Phillips.
  20. I guess i'm going to have to pay winchester's asking price. Sh1t.....i paid $150 for a pair of sling swivels for it. I guess 12 bucks isn't that bad'
  21. Nope. It HAS to be an oval head, not round.
  22. Been all over there, done literally all of that. Nearest I can get is Track of the Wolf & the longest they carry is 5/8.
  23. Totes random...... Do these things no longer exist? I'm trying like hell to find a single screw. #6x1" oval head woodscrew in steel. Not brass, not bronze, not stainless... just plain damn steel. I've tried everywhere & it seems like I can either buy 5000, or I can pay $12 + shipping for one. What. The actual. Hell?! If anyone has some lying around, I'd be glad as heck for one. I'm doing a custom rifle build & need one final screw for my grip cap. Winchester are asking $12.39.......
