  1. Completely unenforceable & would cost so many states, so much revenue from our of state hunters (think all western states) & state line hunters, that it'll never, ever happen.
  2. Addendum: A lot of, probably most, outfitters, guides & concessions will let you whack a baboon or two for free. They think of them the way we think of coyotes. DO NOT post them on Facebook! You wanna find out how irrational & well connected anti hunters are? Post a grip-and-grin with something that looks like a person. It cost a good friend of mine his entire career. As a freaking game warden of all things.
  3. I've only been to Africa once & that was bowhunting in Namibia, so I have no gun advice to offer. But one thing I know is common & relevant, is the upsell. Set yourself a budget. I'm sure you're 'package' includes the common species (warthog & Impala or springbok, occasionally blue wildebeest) but you're going to see a BUNCH of other stuff & your PH is GOING to tell you what a trophy it is & you'd be simply mad to pass it up! Red Hartebeest, Zebra, Waterbuck, Blesbok..... it's all there for the selling. Find out trophy fees in advance & set a limit. It might be one exceptional critter or a good mixed bag. Up to you. But you HAVE to stick to your budget. Think of it like setting a limit in a casino. Don't forget to tip your skinners. Cheap pocket knives are always welcome. If you want to be super nice, leave a big bottle of ibuprofen in your room, along with a bunch of AA batteries when you leave. The cleaners will share them out with the cooks, skinners & their families & their are incredibly appreciated. Also, you'll need to check on trophy shipping costs. The 2 trophies I had shipped to England (Black Wildebeest - $1200 trophy fee & Springbok - $300 trophy fee) consists of 2 skulls, a skin & a cape & the shipping alone cost more than the hunt. I want to say the shipping & import fee was around $2800. They shipped in a wooden crate that weighed about 30lb by itself!
  4. Looks like a Fajen, to me. I also can't believe else noticed that it's a cack-handed stock on a right hand rifle. H&H would absolutely never compromise like that.
  5. To be fair, the seller's last name might be Holland. And he might have a brother..... I'm also 95% sure that, like Rigby & Richards, H&H built their magazine rifles on Mauser actions, almost exclusively.
  6. I have literally no idea what that is, but I wanna shoot it soooooooo bad!! ❤❤❤
  7. Full tube, safety off, slide tracked just forward enough so the shell can't fall out of the chamber (basically, shell half in)
  8. In the same vein (absolutely no clue on the whatever sight thing...) I'll take -20 in Wyoming over 45° here any day. Everyone forgets that the hummids works at both ends of the thermometer! 116 in Phoenix is an absolute pleasure, compared to 90 here!
  9. Right now? This Canick TP9SF. Holy crap can I shoot this thing! All time? .44 mag Vaquero.
  10. Used 18" 870 - $300 Coyote cerakote - $150 XS sights - $80 Not paying Wilson Combat the extra grand for their rollstamp...... Priceless!
  11. EDC https://imgur.com/gallery/OQ4WBf8 OK, one of you guys is really going to have to explain to me how you embed images from Imgur. Seriously.... imagine you're talking to your 85 year old meemaw.
  12. Then finding a holster! I'm on several notification lists for a 7-sub myself.
  13. If you have smaller hands, there's not much to not love about it. If you could stand to go smaller, you can buy the standard 365 frame that lets you drop down to 10 round mags (you can still use the 12 & 15s) for about 40 bucks.
  14. Wax-honey ratio https://imgur.com/gallery/BxxLxxg
  15. I'm really keen to try IDPA shooting, but the nearest shoots all seem to be a helluva inconvenient drive from tullahoma. Is there anything I could try close to home?
  16. Out of interest, my knockaround,do everything, truck,,beater, farm, pig, walking around gun is a Savage hog hunter. 308. . . . With the PA scope. And irons. https://imgur.com/a/2vfhGnn
  17. I rebored a .243 to .358 winchester because I was bored. I TOTALLY understand doing stuff for no reason! Having owned a GSR, albeit in .223, I found that the standard scout setup was more than accurate enough (Leatherwood Hi-Lux 2-7) for my average hunting needs & she accounted for a decent number of hogs before I got bored with it. That left the original peep in place too. Why not just do that?
  18. I can very, very highly recommend the Primary arms, 1-4x24 number (I think it's around $150) I've repeatedly dropped mine, knocked out over, dropped it out of my truck & generally run it unreasonably ragged for a few years on several guns & it has yet to shift zero. It's had several thousand .308, .358, .30-06 & .45-70 rounds passed under it. It's scratched, battered & badly abused & I cannot kill it.
  19. Dumb question.... well, kinda not so much a question as it is a statement really. Pick a sight. Peep or scope. If you mount a scope, I promise you; in your lifetime you're never, ever going to take it off to shoot irons. If you're going to be sticking to hunting within iron sight ranges, put a freaking scope on it because honestly, it's far more accurate. If you wanna shoot a peep, more power to you. Go with God & ignore the scope entirely. I've been in some ri-DICulous situations & have yet to need to remove a scope. Buy good, reliable glass & it'll last you a lifetime. Or run irons & accept that you're probably not going to 12-ring that 200yd critter.
  20. I done did it.... Sig gave us the P365. Then the P365xl. Then the 356 on the xl frame & called it the 365X. Well, I went t'other way. Considering that it's the grip length that makes a pistol more, or less, concealable; I built up an XL slide from parts & installed it, along with a Holosun 507k x2 RDS, on the standard frame. P365L? Recoil & muzzle flip is noticeably reduced, although accuracy hasn't changed at 3,5,7 & 15yds. Not that that's an issue. The 507 is going to take some getting used to. Right now, I'm noticeably quicker on target with irons, but once shooting the dot is much easier to keep on target. Range time definitely needed here. Regardless of name, it suits in an AIWB holster better than the shorter version, has a far nicer 'in hand' balance & all in all, is a far groovier package (that can still take 10, 12 & 15 round mags) If you ever see me selling it, come round & smack me around a bit.....
  21. Yeah, I didn't really speak to him after the incident. It was him that killed the 2 guys. I don't know any details of it, other than it was 2 Indian guys.
  22. I mean, it's a gun forum, right? Everyone's had a boo boo....I know there's ex military & police dudes here so come on, fess up. Who's been shot? Where, how, why & please explain to the uninitiated what it felt like. I'll go first. All of these were accidents (the last was entirely my fault & the shame hurt FAR more than the injury) First: I was 17. Recruited to the British Army long range shooting team & training for the Queens trophy at Bisley. I took a 7.62 ricochet thru my right knee. It bounced off 2 brick walls before it hit me & I honestly don't remember a thing. I heard a bang (I was working targets in the range butts) then woke up in a hospital. Wheel chair for 3 weeks, crutches for another 6, then physio for a couple of months. I remember that it felt like..... well, like I'd been freaking shot. Second was the week after I quit the physio.... my best bud & I were rabbit hunting (we're both 17...) with .22s. We were having a great day, probably had 35 bunnies in the bag. I shot a really good hare & my 'buddy' (foreshadowing...) decided it'd be funny as all get out to make its head explode, just as I'm picking it up. Well, he missed. Put a .22 short through my hand. Literally just got the all clear from the army, medical discharge & all that & my bestest best friend in the world shattered my right hand pinky knuckle, 3 metatarsal bones & my right index finger knuckle. I passed out at the impact, but came to 30 seconds later feeling like a red hot soldering iron had been shoved thru my hand. Stupid thing, the really stupid thing.... is that I didn't tell anyone for 5 days. I was more worried about getting him in trouble than anything else. My hand was black & the size of a cantaloupe when my mum took me to the hospital (I lied & told her I'd hit it on a rusty nail.) The doctors fixed my hand & dug the slug out from next to my thumb. He's just finished serving a 25 year sentence for killing 2 people back in the UK, by the way. Got out in August last year, apparently. Kinda wish I'd known what he was like in '91....... The third (yeah, I know.....) was entirely my own stupid fault. I won't go into details because, well......no. Nothing bad, nothing cagey, I'm frankly just ashamed because this was totally on me. Ar10 (not mine) with which I was very unfamiliar. I had it muzzle up in a truck & decided (because I'm a tit) that muzzle down would be safer (hahahahaaaaaa!) In my infinite wisdom, I decided to invert the rifle & this bit I don't remember. The safety was off. Not a doubt in my mind, I screwed up. 110% my own doing, not an excuse in the world is going to change that. Now...I don't know if my finger was on the trigger, in the trigger guard or not. Maybe the seat organizer of the driver I was sat behind got in there, maybe fate, God, karma....I honestly do not know. But; something hit the trigger. And the recoil made it a double tap. I, frankly, shat myself. Everyone in the vehicle shat themselves. I have never experienced a moment of shame like it & I pray I never do again. To this day, the thought of what happened & more importantly what COULD'VE happened keeps me awake. It's a feeling I cannot shake. Having been shot twice at this point (and shot AT quite a bit. Now that ####'s scary), this instance was hands down THE most terrifying. Because it was me. It was my fault. I screwed up. Royally. Nothing that occurred can be attributed to anything. Anything, but my negligence. So, I drilled 2 (TWO), 150gn .308 soft points BETWEEN MY BIG TOE & THE TOE NEXT TO THE BIG TOE I DONT KNOW WHAT IT'S CALLED DAMMIT DON'T JUDGE ME! An inch in literally 3 out of 4 directions & if have lost, at best, a toe. At worst, literally my entire f'king foot! (Srsly, not exaggerating) Best I can describe the feeling, physically, was like having an anvil dropped on my foot from about 20 feet. However. The pain IMMEDIATELY disappeared once I realized what'd happened and that it was me that'd screwed up. The physical shock, however; the realization of the situation etc.... knocked the ever living tar out of me. I cried. I panicked. I profusely apologized to everyone. I hyperventilated. I tried to make jokes because that's my default "oh....####" setting. I cried a bit more. I finally realized that the only person physically hurt was me & honestly, I might kinda oughtta think about maybe doing something about that. Took off my boot, nothing odd looking. Took off my sock: bloody, but not weirdly shaped. Looked at my hoof....... RIGHT BANG SLAP between the little piggies. I almost. Almost took up religion, sobriety & veganism at that point. There have, been zero negative effects (other than the continuing sleepless nights, guilt & shame) & the skin came back very nicely. Anyone else here as unlucky, foolish or clumsy as me? TL,DR; Robbie's been shot 3 times. It really, really f'king hurts.
  23. Yeah, but to be fair, I'm f'kin loaded..... Not everyone has my insanely Scrooge McDuckian disposable budget* *One or more of these statements may not be 100% true. The rifle in question wasn't mine. I also might've shot myself with it a bit.
  24. You rich elites have a complete disconnect from us working class proles, dontcha?!
