The main reason I'm looking at Nucanoe is the width. There's a lot of me & not a lot of kayak! It's not going to be a regular use item, I've really zero interest in fishing locally (I'll never understand the bass obsession...) I just want something super duper basic I can truck along with me when I go to the gulf, or Atlantic coast. I'm far more interested in stability, than fishability.

I'm still getting used to it. Having never shot with one before this I'm finding it less instinctive. First shot is definitely slower, but follow ups are much quicker & my groups do seem a hair tighter with it.

Long shot (and yes, I placed a want ad) In looking very seriously for a Nucanoe. 12 footer & either a Freedom or Classic. I find myself taking more & more trips into the flats & marshes around the coasts of Florida, Louisiana & now Texas & I'm looking for a small, truck top or bedable boat & several folk have pointed me towards these. If any of you yak guys happen to hear of, or see one for sale, sub $800, please keep me in mind. If anyone actually HAS one & can give me more thoughts & opinions, I'd be very interested to hear about them.

Completely unenforceable & would cost so many states, so much revenue from our of state hunters (think all western states) & state line hunters, that it'll never, ever happen.

Addendum: A lot of, probably most, outfitters, guides & concessions will let you whack a baboon or two for free. They think of them the way we think of coyotes. DO NOT post them on Facebook! I've only been to Africa once & that was bowhunting in Namibia, so I have no gun advice to offer. But one thing I know is common & relevant, is the upsell. Set yourself a budget. I'm sure you're 'package' includes the common species (warthog & Impala or springbok, occasionally blue wildebeest) but you're going to see a BUNCH of other stuff & your PH is GOING to tell you what a trophy it is & you'd be simply mad to pass it up! Red Hartebeest, Zebra, Waterbuck, Blesbok..... it's all there for the selling. Find out trophy fees in advance & set a limit. It might be one exceptional critter or a good mixed bag. Up to you. But you HAVE to stick to your budget. Think of it like setting a limit in a casino. Don't forget to tip your skinners. Cheap pocket knives are always welcome. If you want to be super nice, leave a big bottle of ibuprofen in your room, along with a bunch of AA batteries when you leave. The cleaners will share them out with the cooks, skinners & their families & their are incredibly appreciated. Also, you'll need to check on trophy shipping costs. The 2 trophies I had shipped to England (Black Wildebeest - $1200 trophy fee & Springbok - $300 trophy fee) consists of 2 skulls, a skin & a cape & the shipping alone cost more than the hunt. I want to say the shipping & import fee was around $2800. They shipped in a wooden crate that weighed about 30lb by itself!

To be fair, the seller's last name might be Holland. And he might have a brother..... I'm also 95% sure that, like Rigby & Richards, H&H built their magazine rifles on Mauser actions, almost exclusively.

If you have smaller hands, there's not much to not love about it. If you could stand to go smaller, you can buy the standard 365 frame that lets you drop down to 10 round mags (you can still use the 12 & 15s) for about 40 bucks.

I rebored a .243 to .358 winchester because I was bored. I TOTALLY understand doing stuff for no reason! Having owned a GSR, albeit in .223, I found that the standard scout setup was more than accurate enough (Leatherwood Hi-Lux 2-7) for my average hunting needs & she accounted for a decent number of hogs before I got bored with it. That left the original peep in place too. Why not just do that?

I can very, very highly recommend the Primary arms, 1-4x24 number (I think it's around $150) I've repeatedly dropped mine, knocked out over, dropped it out of my truck & generally run it unreasonably ragged for a few years on several guns & it has yet to shift zero. It's had several thousand .308, .358, .30-06 & .45-70 rounds passed under it. It's scratched, battered & badly abused & I cannot kill it.

Dumb question.... well, kinda not so much a question as it is a statement really. Pick a sight. Peep or scope. If you mount a scope, I promise you; in your lifetime you're never, ever going to take it off to shoot irons. If you're going to be sticking to hunting within iron sight ranges, put a freaking scope on it because honestly, it's far more accurate. If you wanna shoot a peep, more power to you. Go with God & ignore the scope entirely. I've been in some ri-DICulous situations & have yet to need to remove a scope. Buy good, reliable glass & it'll last you a lifetime. Or run irons & accept that you're probably not going to 12-ring that 200yd critter.

I done did it.... Sig gave us the P365. Then the P365xl. Then the 356 on the xl frame & called it the 365X. Well, I went t'other way. Considering that it's the grip length that makes a pistol more, or less, concealable; I built up an XL slide from parts & installed it, along with a Holosun 507k x2 RDS, on the standard frame. P365L? Recoil & muzzle flip is noticeably reduced, although accuracy hasn't changed at 3,5,7 & 15yds. Not that that's an issue. The 507 is going to take some getting used to. Right now, I'm noticeably quicker on target with irons, but once shooting the dot is much easier to keep on target. Range time definitely needed here. Regardless of name, it suits in an AIWB holster better than the shorter version, has a far nicer 'in hand' balance & all in all, is a far groovier package (that can still take 10, 12 & 15 round mags) If you ever see me selling it, come round & smack me around a bit.....
