(Answering to another forum) "Hey Rob, did it pass yet? " I literally just got back from the urologist about an hour ago. Nope, the little bastard is still Shawshanking its way from my kidney to my bladder. I've had a cluster of other complications though. 6 days of constipation as a result of the painkillers basically left me non- functional for 23 hours a day until this morning. That resolved itself quite emphatically at 10:15 this morning (my butt actually made a noise like "puh POW!") & the rush of immediate relief literally brought me to tears. I haven't eaten anything more substantial than a Jello cup since 8pm last Tuesday & at this mornings weigh in, I've dropped 18lb since then. All of this stems from drinking far too much, for far too long, getting a scare & just stopping dead. My urologist gave me a particular stem, yet caring talking to, showed me his chip & explained that I'm basically a freaking idiot. My body went into 'dependency' mode & decided to hang on to all the toxins I've been faithfully supplying it for the last 4 or 5 years, creating the perfect environment for a stone to form, grow & release in super record time. Throw in an opioid pain killer (which I've always fought against & persistently refused) & I had a kind of gastrointestinal cascade effect. Nothing could go anywhere & all the toxins I'd accumulated just sat in place working their nasty magic. Soooo......yeah. Life's been kind of a painful, vomit fueled ####show for the past week. Bright side though, I should pass it any time now & once it's gone, I'm told, my system is clean & clear.

Right now, the wee barstard is somewhere between my kidney & bladder & is giving me fits. The pain is 1% of what it was, but I still can't move around well. I have THE worst trapped gas & I've thrown up everything I've eaten since the 80s. I can't bear to be upright (sitting or standing) for more than 20 minutes at a time & I haven't had solid food since Tuesday night. I'm told that once it clears the Ureta & gets into my bladder properly, I should be golden. But that could take several days.

1:10 Do not Recommend. I noticed a little back ache yesterday around 5:30am I figured it was trapped wind. By 7:15 I was in the ER & getting IV painkillers (they say that laughter is the best medicine. It's not. Dialaudid is the best medicine!) CT scan confirmed a 4mm stone above my left kidney. Came home with enough Hydrocodone to fell a zoo full of elephants. I usually refuse any kind of opioid, but this time out....gimme. First time in my life (including the gunshot wounds) I've ever vomited purely from pain. Guys. Eat healthy, cut down on the bourbon & salt & drink yer water. I wouldn't wish this on anyone.

Thanks for the reminder! I installed a PA 1-4X24 sfp in a 1-piece mount, grabbed up a selection of ammo & hit the range. After a rough bore sighting & getting on paper at 100yds I shot for groups: (all groups were 5 rounds) 145gn FMJ..... terrible. Honestly couldn't shoot better than a 4" group. Damn. Didn't want to feed 50% of the time. I had to just pop the bolt back a quarter inch & release it to chamber half the rounds. 150gn PSP..... still garbage. Had the same feeding issue, groups hovering around 4" with the occasional 3" Recoil felt surprisingly mild & ejection was perfect. Started to get really dejected at this point. Started fantasizing about breaking out the angle grinder & gas-axe....... 180gn SP..... Well. Now we're cooking with charcoal! Only 1 failure to feed out of 40 rounds. Buttery smooth. First group shot went dead center, 1.5" high & about 1.5" in diameter. Hmmm..... second 5 went into the exact same group. Okay then! I continued with the same target, same group & put the next 30 shots into the exact POI of the first 2! 40 round group into under 2" with a 4 power scope?! Oh HELL yes!! All is redeemed, life is good & I'm starting to fall for this thing. I'm headed up to Indiana for my hunt next Wednesday, for 5 days so hopefully, fingies crossed, I'll be able to give a decent report on how it does on game.

I took my second biggest buck, 2 years ago with my Chinamart special CVA Wolf, 85gn of BH209 & a 240gn XTP in a green sabot at a measured 136 long paces (roughly 140yds) bang-flopped on the spot.

Yesterday morning..... flinched twice, shanked 2 chip shots & left a small forky & doe completely unfazed. Yesterday afternoon..... Yep, didn't see a thing.

I do, but I generally don't use it when I'm working up a load that's within normal parameters. I use it once I've found a load, but it's a magnetospeed & I don't want it throwing off my groups during testing.

Long story short: I'm trying to work up a load for an old, 1947 Mauser that has been rebarreled to .257 Bob. I've only been to the range with it 3 times now (2hr round trip) First time shooting old factory ammo to dial in the scope. 120gn ammo into neat 1" groups, 100s into 1.5 Second to try some reloads. I didn't have a "recommended" powder but found a load for what I had (imr4064). 100gn Core Lokt bullets into 1.5" + groups. Not great, but showed potential. I loaded these instead of Partitions, simply due to cost difference. Yesterday. I got hold of a jug of THE recommended powder (imr4350) & loaded up the 100gn partitions I actually want to shoot. Terrible. Best 'group' was maybe 4" with zero consistency. Load range was 43.5gn to 45.5gn (no pressure signs anywhere, bullets seated to book length 2.770" LOTS of bullet in the case) Could a powder & bullet change really affect things THAT badly? I'm probably going to pull the stock & scope anyway, then try another scope just in case, but just want confirmation that a load couldn't be THAT bad all by itself. Could it?

Forgive me for this question. On the face of it, I'm sure it's really, really dumb but I just don't understand something. I'm not, in any way trying to justify or forgive what happened in any way, shape or form, I'm simply trying to get some clarification. Which part of this horrific incident is criminal negligence? Leaving the loaded gun unlocked, or letting the kid get to it? I only ask, because I have several loaded & readily accessible firearms in my home (I don't have kids) & to my knowledge, that's legal. I don't know of a law saying that a child cannot legally handle a firearm (I admit, I have no idea about the adult supervision thing) Is it a combination of things? To expound..... if I were to walk into your home, in a bit of a mood. See your condition 1 1911 on the table & think "welp, there's the sign...." & deliberately off myself, would that be a straight up suicide, or criminal negligence on your part? Again, please, I am really not trying to forgive or excuse anyone in this situation, I'm honestly & only trying to figure out at what point, or in what situation several totally legal things combine to become illegal.

Kinda-ish related......ish This topic just started up today on a western hunting forum I frequent. Lots of left coas7t hunters on there. Seeing the blame-shift-difference between those guy's & you guys is HIGH-LARious! 90% of the Cali dudes are blaming the armourer, director, sound guy etc...... literally everyone BUT the guy holding the gun. There's a solid 50/50 split right now, between left-coasters & real people on who's to blame. 50% Baldwin, 50% everyone who isn't Baldwin. It's actually pretty fascinating. In a train crashing into an orphanage way.

We basically drag sh*t out of dog hair for a living & scrape it up out of the grass in their runs. Fortune 500 we ain't. Also, I use the Eff word like it's punctuation. Have done since I was a kid. I don't become someone else during interviews or on the job (When customers aren't around. Unless I'm really familiar with them. Or they look cool. Or I'm in a bad mood. Or hung over. Or still drunk. Or think I could take them in a fight. Or I gave up caring several hours before they showed up 2 hours late for their appointment......) and I like to know potential employees are cool with it. Once we have a bit of rapport going, the fact they feel comfortable enough to throw one back at me tells me a lot about them & gives me a far better indication of how they are as a person, than what they scored on their SATs.

Coolest job interview I've ever had to do was with a young person, a couple of years ago. The Wife, staff & I couldn't honestly figure out whether I would be talking to a masculine girl, or a feminine boy. A more androgynous person I've never met in my life. I actually blurted out, during the interview "What are you?! Sorry, sorry... what's your preferred pronoun?" The answer I got was "I don't give a sh*t. My name's Andi, with an 'I' " I ended up hiring someone more experienced, but to this day I still don't have a clue! Hands down one of the coolest people I've ever met!

These definitions also & often get muddied by 'sexuality', which is an entirely different barrel of monkeys that I, frankly, don't want to start an argument over with folks I admire & respect.

To simplify (or reiterate) you can be male in sex, with distinctly female gender traits (caring, nurturing, socially supportive, codependent etc) or, conversely, female with male gender traits (dominating, violent, independent etc)

I have zero problem with folks identifying their gender however they see fit, feel or self identify. I don't care where you put whatever part of you, in whomsoever you choose to put it, as long as they're on board. However..... folks have totally forgotten that gender & sex are completely different things. Your sex is decided by your chromosome makeup. Your gender is decided by what's going on in your noggin. Even if you're post-op transgender (you'll notice the term is now Transgender as opposed to Transsexual....) & are 100% physically a woman, you've completely changed your gender, yet retained your genetic sex. The form question is disingenuous. If you answer 'C' you may not be actually lying, just confusing sex with gender, as 99% of folk do these days; but it would be incorrect for literally everyone.
