  1. Slap one in a box with a pound of Varget & you're on!
  2. NO BOLT!!! Literally just a long action body & barrel. Excellent condition. $100 or trade for something stupid.
  3. I installed a TLR7c on my 365L & I carry exclusively AIWB. I did carry it for a while in the same make holster, before the light & for a few weeks, I chopped & changed back & forth until I decided that I really do prefer the light option. There's an obvious difference in holster thickness but once I'm wearing it, it's is literally unnoticeable. I'm new to carrying, so I was still very aware that the pistol was there for the first few hours each time & even then I couldn't tell which holster I was using at the time. The holster is a JX Tactical 'Fat Guy' & it does carry quite a bit lower than a regular AIWB. I couldn't say whether that makes a difference or not, simply because I've no other experience.
  4. Nobody makes anything bigger or more powerful than the .45 & anyone who says different is just spouting Hollywood nonsense.
  5. Sorry man, I've turned my reloading room upside down & they're gone. All I can think is that I must've swaged them down for my 9x57. Or the bullet fairy pinched them.
  6. I could be wrong, but I'm sure they're for .350 Legend. The 35rem is a .358 bullet. @Nikiski DaveI may have a partial box of Hornady 200gn RN. I'll have a look at lunch. I know I tried some in my .358 & it didn't like them. I just can't remember if I still have them! If I do, they're yours.
  7. How in heck are all these new members finding these Zombie threads, totally unrelated to the main gist of the forum, is what is like to know....... My paranoia radar is pinging REAL hard lately.
  8. I had the exact same issues when I rented a Hellcat (I was 50/50 between that or the 365) The U notch site didn't bother me in the last, in fact I think I prefer it after shooting my Canik. However, my groups were atrocious. The recoil was far worse than I've experienced with other 9s & I too had the slide ride issue. I just couldn't get comfortable with it. The Sig, on the hand, fit me like a glove & confirmed my thought that I'm actually not a bad shot!
  9. Carry it to the truck then toss it on the back seat. It's a rifle, not a load of bricks!
  10. Hey now! I resemble that remark!
  11. I couldn't comment on the A1, per se, but since it's justa gussied up T3x & I actually do have a ton of trigger time on the T3x, I feel comfy giving my opinion. It's a Sako on a budget & that's no bad thing. The action glides. It doesn't snick open. It doesn't make cool Hollywood noises. It sashays open like a dancer on a polished floor. It feels like you're pulling a glass rod through warm oil. The trigger, personal preferences on weight aside, is glorious. Zero creep. Near as dammit zero over travel. I left mine as it came at 3lb because it's a hunting gun & I'd rather err on the side of safety in the woods. It can happily come down to almost half that. Accuracy is what you'd expect from a Sako barrel. Honest 10 round groups into 1.5" (165gn Partitions in .30-06) & that's a good as any factory rifle made & better than 80%. If you're into the '3 round groups'll do' brigade you can call it 3, 1/2" groups with one right in the middle. Whatever gives you the warm fuzziness. I did zero barrel break in & the only mod I've made is replacing the sporter grip module with the vertical. It just fits my hand better. I haven't even cleaned it. Not even from the factory. A good friend has the Sako 85 in .30-06 (in an aftermarket stock, at that) wearing a Swaro Z5 3.5-18x44. My Tikka has a SWFA SS 6x42. My rifle shoots exactly as well as his for a total cost of about half his scope's value. I really, really love this gun. If I had the time & money, I'd honest replace every rifle I own with Tikkas (if they made them in my preferred, oddball chamberings & short barrel lengths )
  12. Kinda-American, if you're pun deaf...... I decided to move on my old faithful Savage Axis .223 for something with a faster twist. The 1:9 was OK, but I've been craving a 1:8 to wring the best accuracy of of 77 grainers. It ended up being donated to a friend for his little boy to use on hogs in Texas. He only 6 (maybe?) & they hunt in thick scrub so accuracy beyond 50yds max was moot. I'm a broke-ass, so high end stuff is a no no & Tikkas are pretty much unobtainable right now. I decided that the Ruger American would fit my budget & needs very well indeed, thankyouverymuch. I placed local want ads & prices ranged from "are you high right now?!" to "you smoked crack before you replied, didn't you." I literally couldn't find anything for less than $150 over retail & no retailers had them in stock. Poo. Well, I happened to get chatting to a customer & fellow shooter & he mentioned that his brother had one he'd be willing to come off, cheap. "How cheap?", I asked, pensively.... "less than 3, more than 2." "Tell him it's sold, we'll argue about the cash later! " Turned out that it's the youth model, compact. Well, I figured if the price was right, it's a barreled action & I can work up from there. I was planning on another sub 20" barrel anyway. $225 & a free dog bath & trim sealed the deal. Damn thing looked like it'd never been shot. I immediately started googling stocks & hit a wall. Boyd's, chassises (plural of chassis? Anyone?) or Ruger. Poo again. I won't have another Boyd's under my roof, cheap & solid as they are. They're just ugly as a mud fence, heavy & none of them seem to fit me properly. Hmmmmm.....chassis? While there are a couple that'll work, none were particularly appealing or affordable by the time you've bought the actual important bits & the ones that were don't work with the 223. Poo x3. Actually, I've since discovered that yes, in fact, they will but it seems like AICS magazine manufacturers & AICS magwell manufacturers don't, can't or won't communicate They do, in fact, make .223 mags that fit in a .308 hole. So, Ruger it is. I blew the dust off my ebay account & found a new take off, in a short action, with the replaceable magwell for $100. Got it, tried it, it fit. Advertised my compact stock the same day & sold it for $100. Sometimes it's good to be lucky! Did further googling, knowing that Ruger makes the Predator model with 3 different mag configurations. Rotary, AR15 & AICS. The rotary is garbage. It's short, unreliable & only seats 4. The AR requires a different bolt (it has a cutout on the underside to allow passage over the feed lips) BUT the AICS might be a go. Google says......maybe. I found out that Ruger will sell you the magwell as long as you give them a serial number ($34, to the door) however, you'll have to argue for a few minutes with customer service because "That part is incompatible & you can't do the conversion with that serial number range" well, they're wrong. There are several threads on the Ruger forum explaining this. It took some convincing & a few white lies ("yes, I've done this before!") but they finally took my money. Got it, bolted it in, job's a good'n. PMag .223 mag ordered. Doesn't work. It even says right there on the page "Will not work with Ruger American Predator." I guess I missed that. Poo x4, verging on 'Dangit!' So, I took a $40 gamble & ordered an MDT magazine. I discovered that the steel AICS mags work great, but they're also $70+! Well, the MDT works perfectly. There is a little rocking, front to back, but not enough to hinder feeding at all. Until you've got 2 left, then the last round catches on the bolt body & tries to double feed. ..............(ping) 30 seconds on the belt sander putting a chamfer on the bolt fixed that (the hell with warranties anyway) I already had a set of 30mm rings & bought a cheap rail (it's a .223, not a .338), installed a tried & tested SWFA 6x & here we are! Sub $400, accurate as all get out (no load testing yet, just a half dozen of my AR bulk reloads under 1" at 80ish yds), under 7lb & still ugly as a blacksmith's thumb! Bolt detail
  13. I once promised myself I'd never go into debt for something I could physically survive without. It's getting tougher to keep by the day!
  14. It's brand-fire new. Maybe 100 rounds through it. The barrel is floated, although it's pencil thin (Kimber Hunter) I'm limited by Kimber's short magazine length. Right now I'm so close to the max length, I'm getting the occasional hangup in the box. I must admit though, I haven't actually tried SAAMI spec oal.
  15. Well, I made a deal last night for a Dillon 550 with a couple of toolheads & die sets. I've got a .223 conversion kit on order & I reckon I'll be building a new bench this weekend.
  16. I'm about at my wit's end with this damn Kimber. I was really wanting to shoot 100gn bullets, but it looks like that isn't in the cards. I've tried Partitions, Core-lokt & SGKs. I know there are others, but these 3 were what I wanted to work up for (pigs & bigger, range time & whitetail) I've tried so many combinations around the 'magic' load with IMR4350 is not even funny. Nothing from 43 to 47gn will shoot under 3" whatsoever. I've dropped below book minimum to way above & nothing seems to do better than 3". I thought I'd found a happier spot at 46, but my last range trip slapped them all into 3" again. I'm not seeing any group shift, all group centers are consistent (it's not the scope or mounts) it just doesn't seem to want to shoot 100 grainers. Doing a bunch of online snooping, it turns out that this seems to be common, even with the 1:10 twist. They seem to like <90gn and >110gn. The mid weights don't get any love. So. Has anyone had any success at all with 100gn bullets in the Bob? If not, what's the consensus on 80gn TTSX on accuracy & game? I've read a ton of very positive accuracy reports on the Barnes/4350 combo, but no dead stuff reports
  17. Probably why they have them in stock. $120/1000 is freaking ridiculous even in these times. Remember the good old days of 2 years ago when they were $35/1000?
  18. I have a shelf full of cheap, broken binoculars, with a combined purchase value of around $1100 sitting right behind the $900 used Swaros I actually use to remind me of this fact.
  19. 10 round 5.56 magazine. This is NOT an ARmag, this is an AICS pattern magazine for SA bolt actions. https://magpul.com/firearm-accessories/pmags/pmag-10-556-ac.html?mp_global_color=118 Will not work in the Ruger American Predator (I kinda skimmed over that part on the site) Opened package, never used. $35 tyd.
