Bump please, don't be afraid to throw me a number! -
It's worth a shot.... Anyone have a Bold trigger lying around to fit a Husky 46/M96/38? I'm trying to find one with the built in trigger block safety because I'm cheap & i REALLY don't want to spend Timney money! Boyd's used to sell these, but don't have them anymore & the only one i can find online is in Hungary.

Doveses & Duckses & Gooses, oh MY! BUMP & open to offers. -
Ultra reliable, very solid shotgun. It's not in perfect condition & it has been well used. There is some freckling to the receiver, a 2" crack in the forend & some swelling around the buttstock. I bought it 11 years ago & it had been stood in a flooded basement. None of these flaws affect its function whatsoever, & the forearm crack is barely noticeable. I had a silver mid-rib bread installed 7 or 8 years ago. 3" chamber & I have 6 chokes to go with it. Rem Imp Cyl Rem Mod Rem Full Rem Full (steel) Bailey Mod (installed, patterns far better than the Rem) Trulock .675 Turkey (tungsten) I've shot hundreds of rounds of sporting clays with this gun & killed a truckload of birds with it. Cleaned meticulously after every outing & the has system O rings replaced annually. It has literally not once malfunctioned. She's a beautiful gun with a few miles on her is all. $650 seems like a very fair price for this, taking the faults into account.

Pretty much all done! I'm intentionally not refinishing the stock. I've got pretty rifles & I end up not using them for fear of knocks & bumps. This'ns starting ugly.

By the power of Greyskull, it came out! I did lose a little sliver off one side, but I can epoxy that back in. Soooo..... do Holland & Holland just call me, orrrrr???

Yay! Now for the reeeally scary bit. Proper Scaredy Mc####yerpants about this....

I'm hoping like hell it doesn't come to that.

Nooope. Do not like this feeling.

As you can see.... there's not a huge amount of barrel to be concerned with bedding I'm planning on taking it as far as the rear sight hump & damming off in front of it.
-
On the bright side though, I got all the metalwork done today & my pillars arrived from Midway. I'm hoping to set the pillars tomorrow, skim bed the action on Monday & get to the range next weekend!

It did seem uncharacteristically verbose

Remington 1100 barrel extension Mod
Handsome Rob replied to Sidewinder's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Seems like a duct tape & cardboard solution. Fabricate your own deflector 'flap' to angle your flying shells back towards your feet. I think replacing your current barrel with a trap barrel would be a less costly option than drilling & soldering in a stub. It would only take a tiny misalignment or incorrectly sizing the stub to cause you some feeding issues. -
Correction. It's a Wheeler Bedrock kit.

Whatever my I've had in the basement for years! Acraglass, I think.

Okay, I just threw up a gigantic 'Screw It' & ordered a pillar bedding kit. Time to pull up my big boy panties & learn. Mostly, because I just got my barreled action back, sights & sling band ordered, all the bluing stripped & lopped 4" off the end of the stock. I'm waaaaay too impatient to faff around waiting 2 months for a gunsmith. If it goes wrong though, I'm blaming y'all. You're a bad influence.

Thanks for all the help & looking out. Yous guys are the best! I managed to snag what I need at a better-than-Tullahoma Walmart this afternoon.
-
Good to know, thanks. I've never needed it before & I kinda assumed it would be impossible to find. I guess maybe not so much.

I'm picking up a new gun tomorrow & I need some shells! Zero preference, other than I'd prefer 7-1/2 shot. I'm looking to buy a case, if anyone has one, or knows of somewhere that had them in stock.

If the box mag isn't a deal breaker I can very, very highly recommend the older model Savage Hog Hunter. The newer version has a box mag, I believe, but the older model is far nicer handling & has a better feeling stock. Hands down the single most accurate factory rifle I've ever owned (I'm on my second) & both picked up for under $500

Fyi, you could add a cheap, crappy, free float handguard to your M&P for under $50. It doesn't have to be expensive.
