Desperate-for-cash-after-today bump.

So, I've found my dream rifle & I need to raise some funds, Pronto. I bought this earlier in the year to be my general, all around deer rifle since I've not been able to find a Stainless Tikka in my preferred 6.5x55. Ahem.... I'll admit, I had some serious accuracy issues when I first took it to the range. I couldn't get it to shoot better than 3" groups, no matter what I tried. I've finally figured that problem out & my last range trip I was consistently shooting sub MOA groups with both 100 & 120gn loads. The accuracy problems were 100% my fault. I had a bunch of brass that I hadn't realized was a mixture of regular & +P. It turns out that the internal size variation is enough that it's going to give MASSIVE ES swings. That's exactly what was happening after shooting it over a chrono. I was getting huge velocity variations. Totally my fault & the rifle, as guaranteed by Kimber, is exactly as it should be. Right, that's that out of the way. It's had 75 rounds through it now & looks exactly like it did from the factory. There isn't a single mark on it. It comes complete with the original box & paperwork, a pair of Talley lightweight 30mm rings, RCBS dies & enough brass, bullets & 100 reloads (that WILL need sorting into headstamp lots, sorry) It's a superb, extremely lightweight rifle in an amazingly versatile caliber. $1000 for the entire package.

You know, I'd really, really like to get a hold of one of those cheap, $30 Rohm RG .22 revolvers & ream out the barrel with a 6mm drill bit to make it a smooth bore. I reckon that would be a bunch of yucks in a barn full of rats, with .22 shot! If anyone wants to part with one, I'd buy it just for that!

Any long action caliber at all. Stainless Tx3 Lite. I'm going to rebarrel it to 6.5x55, since it would appear that there are zero available in that chambering. I'm not looking for anything fancy, but I do need the entire gun not just a barreled action (unless you're pretty much giving it away)

Tony at Strategic Edge recommended Echo 3 Armory in Chapel Hill & over the years I've come to the conclusion that if he tells me something, I probably shouldn't argue. I'm taking it up there tomorrow for a good, hard, throating. $200(+/-) & a 6 week turnaround. I can live with that!

Ain't stainless but.....

I don't have a comparator, COAL is the best I can do. It wouldn't really change anything though. TMKs have incredibly close tolerances (+/- 0.0001) and a hard acetate tip so I'm pretty confident. Even if I was off by 10 thou, I'd still be very deep into the lands.

I just did a quick & dirty chamber measure (bullet jammed into the chamber & measured from the crown, then crown to bolt face) I get a consistent measurement of 2.236" COAL with 77gn TMKs. That's terrible. My OAL is 2.416 so I'm into the lands by 0.178"! That's over a tenth of an inch (2.54mm in Catholic) I couldn't even load them to AR mag length at that measurement. This throat gotta go

I managed to get to the range today with my Ruger American .223 shooting 77gn TMKs. I'd pre-loaded a bunch for my old Savage, plus a few test rounds. All were loaded to the same length of 2.414" COAL. Longer than SAAMI spec, but well within the mag length (2.55") However at 2.414" I'm jammed into the lands. Not touching, but "damn this bolt is hard to close" jammed (I need to measure) Accuracy was absolutely spectacular at well under an inch for 5 separate 5 round groups, but I was seeing some pretty disconcerting pressure signs (cratered & flowing primers) I'm giving serious consideration to having the throat lengthened. I know I could load to chamber length, but I'm giving up a ton of case room that I'd much rather utilize. Could anyone recommend a Smith to do the work, and if anyone has had this done, a rough idea of what it would cost?

Since I'm apparently sitting on the world's supply of cast .308 bullets & brass....... Anyone got any good hunting load data for 165 & 190gn bullets? I'm not looking for screaming hot loads, just something that'll work on medium game inside 100yds with as little recoil as possible.

Still looking for different bullets to play with. I'm almost on the verge of putting in an order with Hammer. I actually pulled the scope off the rifle to put on my .223 I have another on order that should be here in a couple of weeks. I'm really in no rush. Hunting season is a long way off & I have plenty of alternatives

Dudes..... like for srsly..... O. M. G!!! It took me maybe 45 minutes to put together, figure out the primer timing rod thingy & set up the dies, then another 2 hours to crank out 500 rounds, without rushing & checking every 20th powder charge. How have I managed so long without this in my life???

I have +/- 250, 165gn RNFP bullets. Shooter's Choice brand. $50 Also roughly 250 (again +/-) 190gn gas checked Spitzer(?) These could be custom cast, I can't find anything about them online. The 20 I weighed are within 1gn though. They did come from a match shooter, so they could be commercial cast & weight sorted. They're in an old Airforce first aid kit tin (might be worth a bit!)....$75 100ish loose 115gn .309 RNGC cast. $10 Open box of 500 (90% full) Hornady .32 (.314) 90gn SWC. Knurled style. As far as I can tell, these are discontinued. $50? 220ish 110gn jacketed soft point bullets. Pretty sure these are designed for the M1a carbine ammo. There are 2 unopened bags of 100 & a handful of mixed half jacket & fmj. $50 Cast 165s..... 190s...... 115s.......

24" barrel, no iron sights, no idea, also no idea. I do know it's a push feed.

Joking aside, if anyone has any, I'd be really interested in a cheap set of .223 dies. I've installed my Lee's into my Dillon & just realized that I've got some load workup to do, that would be a lot easier on the single stage. I really don't want to have to re-adjust them again! Lee FL & seating dies would be great!
