Sorry, not an AR platform, but I ain't got that kinda cash! I finally managed, after a few months of looking, to find a good condition Marlin 882SS on which to base my varminter project. I really like the idea of a .22WMR I know it's no long-range 'yote dropper like a 22-250 or .223, but it's cheap to feed, accurrate as all get out (now) & I'm told, more than adequate for upto 100-125yd shots Upto now I've done a few 'backyard' trigger mods to get the pull down from a frankly ridiculous 7-1/2 pounds to a far more grouping-friendly 3 pounds & I've added a 4-16 x 40 AO scope. Right now I'm gnawing at my fingernails waiting to get my stock blank (one of these......) The stock is, apparrently, 50% inlet for the action & will need a lot of work & final finishing. Hopefully in 10-12 weeks I should be able to show off the finished article!

I'm really wanting to try my hand at a few coyotes. Does anyone know of any populations on public land around Franklin/Coffee counties? I'm thinking possibly Bear Hollow, Flintville Hatchery or similar areas. I don't have access to any private land, so WMAs are my only option (I think. Y'all may know better! )

Sorryfor any spelling mistakes, just been out patternig my gun so I'm doing this left-handed! (MAN those 3-1/2" shells hurt!) Any of you use an 870 Express fo turkeys? What haveyou foundas a good patterning load? I'm shooting a 28" barrel with extra full choke. I tried the 3-1/2" Winchester Supremes with 2oz of no.5 It seems to pattern OK out to 30yds, but breaks up considerably at 40, with only 4 or 5 hits in the head/neck area. I don't want to go dump a load more cash on shells I'll never use if I can get a litte up-front advice. Oh, I believe I'd like to drop to a 3" shell too. My shoulder is frikkin' KILLING me after 6 shots!

That could be me. Looks a lot like damascus steel. Here's a few examples I've produced in my own forge..... Many, many people are producing Damascus (pattern welded) steels. The 'art' of pattern welding different steel compositons into a cohesive, contrasting billet & then working it into cool & funky items such as this, is alive & well the world over! Damascus steel, or more correctly, Damascene forge-welded steel is quite simply a blend of different simple steels welded together in the forge, to benefeit from the different qualities of each. The pattern, originally speaking, is purely accidental. The pattern is revealed in a process of etching & polishing. There are some spectacular forge-welders around today, producing very intricate mosaic patterns in steel. There's even a trade-name, Damasteel, for stainless damascus (Which I suspect the slide to be) More on topic.....That slide is stunning! Although I now want to buy a 1911

I've fished with a few buddys on their boat below Nickajack dam, but I'm new to boats & don't have the confidence to go play on the river just yet. I've not been able to find a picture identical to this gun, but from what I've been able to discover, there were several factories in Eibar, Spain that manufactured Smith model 10 & Colt Police copies in 32WCF caliber during the late '20s through to the early '40s. I think that mine was made by FRN, but the stamping is very worn & hard to read.

Ah, okay It's an old Spanish S&W model 10 copy (I recently bought it from Coldblackwind) in 32-30 I've managed to date it to somewhere around 1930s-ish vintage. The frame & barrel are in surprisingly good condition (structurally speaking) Other than it lookin like steamrolled crap, everything is tight & seems to work perfectly, just wasn't sure about this gap thang.

I bought an older revolver to use as a throw around truck/hunting pack gun. Please bear in mind that I have ZERO handgun experience & yes, I realise I probably should've asked this before I handed over the small amount of cash I spent. Should there be a gap between the front of the cylinder & the back of the barrel? The gun I bought has a gap of about 1/16" & I'm a little worried about shooting it (I guess I'm a little leery of escaping gasses, misalignment, blowing my own frikkin' hands off, etc...) Should I be, or is this perfectly normal & I'm an idiot?

Tinitus. Brought on by my own stupidity on Wednesday. Shooting a .44 mag & some HOT loads without ear defenders. I gave them to a 13 year old to protect his hearing I wouldn't mind, but i was HIS gun!!! Mind you, they were his EDs too. Damn good fun was had (Better if the ringing ever stops!)
