yes, its a weaver side mount, I know at one point universal developed a scope mount and sold some weaver scopes with the rifle but this is not that mount just fits in the stock the same way.

on the pt1911 - cca did the refinish its melonite cost about 200 and is comperable to glock finishes (same stuff).

my father in law gave me this, he didn't know what it was... i stripped it found out it was apparantly a later generation (third?) universal. s/n is 367XXX and it has two recoil springs. its in pretty good shape and I won't prejudge it on all the bad hype they got, I'll just shoot it and form my own opinion I guess.

I'm no metals expert, they do explain it on their site and its pretty much how you say... molten bath of special salts, nitrogen, carbon, and small amounts of oxygen are diffused into the surface of the steel. its does not say anything about heat treating after the fact... in other words I don't believe there is any 'baking' involved in the process. they just aluminum oxide blast the finish off and have at it. There are some finishes they can't do I imagine but i'm not sure what they are. Mousegunner, everywhere i've read says that the tennifer and melonite are the one in the same, earlier generation glocks used a slightly different process (with something poisionous/toxic?) but now their all done in the same fashion. My gun has no applicated color or anything else applied to it except for the melonite/tennifer process, and thats the only color that comes out of it, which looks alot like my glock finish. I don't know what they (glock) do after the fact but they do look alike, mine just looks a little smoother probably because of the blasting process.

they charge 200, with which they will melonite everything if you want them too, i.e, sights, barrel etc... I opted out of those. They did tell a friend of mine they would do his slide on his pf-9 for 80$ since there is obviously not much metal on em. coal creeks website has all of their finish options on it with prices listed. most of the finishes are in the 150-175 range but the melonite is 200.

Got my Taurus back today from CCA and I love the finish with a few tiny exceptions (because i'm so anal). If anybody has the money to spare and needs a good finish the melonite is great, i've heard its a trade name for tennifer which is what glock uses? anyway here is one pic, theres a few more in the show and tell area.

benton shooters supply has everything and usually plenty of it, their a little high though. Been to Bass Pro twice in last two weeks they had 100 wb .45 (about 4 boxes) and some 9mm, .357 sig, .32 acp. The walmarts in alcoa and maryville are hit and miss. alcoa usually has blazer 9mm, maryville... well haven't seen anything there but .40 in the last few weeks.

What kind of mag well is that?

The PT1911 is getting a facelift, I'll post pics when I get it back...new finish and grips.

Hi all, Jeremy here. HCP holder since 2004, I think, my renewed license exp. in 2012... I love my guns, If I had the money I would be gun poor in a hurry! I'm ashamed of the fact that I've sold more guns than I own and I vow to not sell anymore unless the proceeds go directly to another gun purchase. I've carried a springfield xd40, glock 23, glock 19 (current). I'm in the market for a sub-compact 9mm, wouldn't mind trying out that kahr pm9, but may go cheap for the kel-tec pf9/p11, don't know yet, i'm also seeking out a full size springfield operator, their current full size all steel model with the pachmayr grips... If anyone sees one, please pm me or post here or something (having a hard time tracking one down). Everyone I call just says, 'haven't seen one of those in a while':tinfoil: I have a new favorite ar-15 manufacturer 'LWRC' just wanted to share... check out their website for some kick 'a' guns, all gas piston models! I hope to soon be competing in idpa competitions, will probably make it out to ORSA soon to check em out, looks like alot of fun!
