  1. Park rules up there state "no firearms". I asked one of the Smith County deputy's patrolling through there one day about it and he told me that as long as he didn't see it, he wouldn't know it was there. I carry concealed when up there.
  2. Thanks for pointing that out. Gotta watch how you word things around here.
  3. Thanks for that info. I'll read up on their websites.
  4. Going through Bama to Destin this weekend. I see that our HCP is formally reciprocated with FL, and is recognized but NOT formally reciprocated in ALA. Does this mean that you CAN'T get in any trouble carrying in ALA?
  5. So.... the results are not consistant? Mine may or may not come back bad?
  6. Had a co-worker (he has an HCP), bought a pistol at an auction last weekend. Gun has to go through a dealer before he can take ownership. He has never purchased from a dealer before, so the process was new to him. His check came back bad, didn't know why. He had access to the local Sheriff, who told him a DUI in 1985 was the holdup. Sheriff got it fixed, he's gonna get the gun. I had a DUI in 1987, would my background come back bad as well?
  7. I just seen this and should have replied sooner. The campground rules they hand out do say NO WEAPONS. I stopped a Sheriffs office car on patrol to ask him about it, turns out it was the Sheriff, who has since been replaced. He told me that he believed in a man's right to protect his home, and while your camping the camper is your home. He told me that as long as he didn't see it, he wouldn't look for it. Seemed like a good guy. I'd a voted for him if I was a resident.
  8. KelTec P-11 in my pocket every day.
  9. I'll be sure to ask an officer whether it's legal to carry with an HCP or not. I'll let you know what they say. If I had to bet, I'd say they probably won't know for sure.
  10. I guess I could have put the gun in the trunk.... I just want to keep my carrying as legal as possible so I do not jeopordize my right/priviledge to carry. But I guess in this case SHE would be the one that would be issued a citation. And thanks to you guys for the constructive conversation on this question.
  11. Not sure if it's legal, but that's where mine will be next weekend.
  12. These last two posts are very interesting. She and I discussed it more today and have decided to get off the can, shop for her a gun that She's comfortable with, let her go shooting with me more, and get her permitted. Nevertheless, my scenario is thought provoking and I'm sure it happens every day.
  13. We go there often. It is patrolled by COE Rangers and Smith County Sheriff's Office. I've been meaning to stop one and ask them about legal carry. I keep mine in the nightstand in the camper and will probably continue to.
  14. Thanks for the replies. I went ahead and went in there for convenience, but will have to go downtown to Frugal McDougals next time.
  15. I get out to run into a liquor store, leaving her locked in the car. Liquor store is posted, so I go back to the car and take the pistol and put it in the console of the car. At this point, while I'm in the store, would she be considered illegally armed?
