  1. No, you do not have to ship it through an FFL. You will have to ship through UPS or Fedex. If it is a handgun it has to be shipped overnight and they will not accept it at the UPS or Fedex stores. You have to take it directly to the terminal. If you are shipping it for warranty work call the manufacturer's customer service department and have them send you a prepaid shipping label. Overnight shipping is expensive. After the work is performed the manufacturer can return it directly to you. UPS: Shipping Firearms Freight Terms and Conditions - General Terms and Conditions at FedEx.com
  2. I bought one used about a year ago. Great plinking pistol ! The DA trigger is heavy on mine also. I took the sideplate off, cleaned it out and put a few drops of oil on the contact surfaces. That helped some but the trigger is still heavy. I have been pondering putting some Wolff reduced power springs in it.
  3. Maybe I should go to NC. I can't ever find 40 at Walmart.

  6. Bul in Israel was making them. According to the CD Forum there was a dispute between Charles Daly and Bul because Bul wanted to make the same pistol for Charles Daly and Magnum Research. So Apparently Magnum Research will be selling the same pistol that Charles Daly was going to be selling. G4 Update - Finished with Bul! - The Charles Daly Forums
  7. When I was in the police academy there was an older guy in my class. The first day at the range he was shooting a .40 cal Sig and was having malfunctions. No one could figure out why. After about six hours the range officer noticed the pile of bulged casings around him and we all discovered he had been shooting 9mm through the .40 cal pistol all day. Entertaining
  8. You might want to try here for the dovetail sizes. EFS-EMS-ECS & FS-MS-CS Dovetail Dimensions Are Located Here - The Charles Daly Forums Both guns were made by Armscor so they may have the same size dovetails. With the dovetail sizes you can look around for sights the same size or call somewhere like Brownell's and they should be able to tell you what will fit. Keep in mind they will still probably have to be fitted to a certain extent. Like everything on a 1911. I had a pair of tritium XS sights put on my Charles Daly 1911 last year. I ordered them from Brownell's at the time they were discontinuing them. Good Luck.
  9. I got one after Thanksgiving. I think it is a decent safe for the money. It seems pretty secure and has a decent amount of room inside. I bought it from Lowe's and got free delivery.
  10. I have one of the Charles Daly ECS models that I bought used about a year ago. The one I have was made by Armscorp in the Phillipines. It is my understanding that Armscorp may not have the contract any longer. I have put about 1,000 rounds through mine since I received it. The only problem I had was right after I received it the captured recoil spring assembly locked up. I called Charles Daly and had a new assembly within a week. That is a common problem and I have seen it happen on several other 1911's with a captured recoil spring assembly. The fit and finish seem to be a little better than the Rock Island line. It doesn't have odd ball parts (llama, older Firestorms, etc.) standard 1911 parts fit. I just found out on the Charles Daly Forum that the steel frame 1911's were discontinued and that Charles Daly is not importing 1911's at this time. Apparently the same 1911's are now being sold under the Citadel name. Check out the Charles Daly Forums for more info. CharlesDaly.com - The Charles Daly Forums
  11. +1 The reason it is hard for the slide to close is the extra pressure being put on the extractor.
  12. Tell them to make sure to file a claim with the home warranty company. Usually you have to call them first and they will send out an authorized provider to complete the repair. My water heater went out about two months after I bought my house and I had it repaired with a plumber of my choice. I sent them a copy of the bill and about two weeks later got a check for the repairs. If they give them any problems just explain that it was definitely an emergency.

  18. Here are some photos of some of the work CCR has done for me. The first pistol is a Glock 22 done in Cera-hide house black. This work was done about two years ago and I have put about 1,000 rounds through the gun since then. As you can see the finish has held up extremely well. The second pistol is a Charles Daly Officer's Model that I had done recently. The finish is also Cera-hide house black. This image has been resized. Click this bar to view the full image. Cummings Custom Refinishing in Greeneville. They have done several guns for me and the work has always been excellent. For a PF-9 slide it would probably cost you about $40 - $50. The turn around time for them is usually about 8 weeks. I will post a photo later of some of the work they have done for me. CCR Firearm Refinishing
  23. I got my C&R license in the mail today. I took two months to the day from when my card was charged. So many purchases to make.
  24. I saw an add for these in Shotgun News. I read a few reviews online and could not find any bad ones. I don't really need another upper but for this price I may not be able to resist. DSA ZM4 Forged 7075T6 A3 AR15 Upper Receiver - DSZM4CBU-D S Arms
  25. +1 on the slide clip. I carry mine with night sights, slide clip of course, 13 rd mag w/ adapter, and decal grips.
