  1. Why don't people like this ever run for office. I rarely get to vote for someone I believe in, it's usually the lesser of two evils. I guess people that should be in office can't afford to get there.
  2. Before July I didn't eat at restaurants that served alcohol because I couldn't carry. After July I was able to enjoy eating at restaurants that served alcohol. Now I'm just back where I started. No "thug tactics" intended. It's not my intention to try to put someone out of business nor do I believe my business will make or break a restaurant. I won't leave my gun in the car just so I can eat at a restaurant that serves alcohol and I won't break the law. There are enough places to eat that don't serve alcohol that I have no fear of going hungry. The door was opened to me for a while and now it's been closed again. As a HCP holder I can and do carry. If I have a choice, I don't go where I can't carry. It's as simple as that. I don't see how this makes me a bad guy.
  3. Voted. Thanks.
  4. I reached this conclusion when I initially read about the judges decision. Argue the numbers all you like, my conscience will not allow me to spend my money where alcohol is served. Whether or not it impacts their bottom line makes little difference. It impacts my bottom line. I must be true to myself first. I travel regularly for business and I'm forced to eat at restaurants if I want to eat. This will be a hardship for me but I will sleep at peace with myself. The question now is not if guns are allowed, the question will be "Do you serve alcohol?". If the answer is yes, then "Sorry, I'll take my business elsewhere".
  5. At their prices, it's robbery. You should have a gun.
  6. I couldn't find any newspaper archives on it but I think this may be the same issue. Tennessee Firearms Assoc. Inc. • View topic - Shooting on private property
  7. Several months ago there was a situation I read about in the local paper. The best I recall, a resident had been using his private land for private shooting for him and some friends. Someone complained, disturbing the peace or something. I'll search the Citizen Tribune site and see if I can find it.
  8. In Hamblen County it doesn't matter how much land you have. If the neighbors complain, the law will shut you down.
  9. Saw it tonight for the first time. Very interesting.

Far out! Especially if it's really real. You never know any more. It sure looks real.
  11. And cheese! Cheese is perfect with bacon. Go all out.
  12. As a business traveler, I have observed that restaurant service quality has declined dramatically in recent years. On the rare occasions that I receive excellent service, the server will receive an excellent tip, usually 20 to 25%. More often than not, the service is mediocre and so is the tip. 10 to 15%. I have on occasion put no tip on my credit card receipt and will write "Very poor service" instead. I do this expecting that someone in management will see it. There is a clear pattern to the quality of service I will receive. An older mature server typically provides far better service than a teen that is busy giggling with their co-workers. Certainly there are exceptions but they are rare. This is evident in fast food restaurants as well. Where you used to get a cheerful "Hello, how can I help you?". You now typically get a sour "Can I take your order?" from someone that acts as though you are interrupting their nap. Again there certainly are exceptions. A few months ago I stopped at a fast food place off of I 40 and was pleased to be treated with courtesy and a smile. I took the time to seek out the manager to commend the young man that took my order. If I took the time to seek out a manager every time I experienced poor service, I'd have to adjust my daily schedule. Giving a good tip for poor service is only encouraging the server to continue providing poor service. I don't give tips. The tip must be earned. I work hard for my compensation and expect those that I pay to do the same. Mediocrity has become far too acceptable in our society. I will not encourage it. I will reward excellence.

You better go buy a lotto ticket while your luck is hot.
  14. Welcome and buy all you want. Lot's of good people with plenty of good deals.

  17. If I were a squirrel, I'd be packing my nuts and moving out of state. Very nice.
  18. Sorry we didn't make it. Just not enough hours in the day. I hope the East TN branch of TGO will gather again soon.
  19. Wife has one as her BUG. She keeps it loaded with the .410 buckshot and loves it.
  20. Well, that didn't work. One more try.

  22. A co-worker of my wife's passed away the other day and the funeral is set for Saturday. This may disrupt our plans to show up at SIR for the shooting fun but I'm pretty sure we'll still make it to dinner. OS, if we don't make it to the range, throw a few rounds for us.
  23. Do it the old fashioned way. Save your pennies until you have enough. Sorry, I couldn't help it. I'm just an old fashioned kind of guy. My kids are all grown and gone but the dad in me can't be held back.
  24. I have noted that there are still those posting with comments such as "if I were only 300 miles closer". I will admit it's difficult sometimes to hold back when there's something like a SA SS 1911 for sale miles away that you would really like to buy but have other items a bit higher on the wish list. Oops, did I just say that? Well, at least I didn't say it in the classified threads. I'm happy with it as it is. It just requires some willpower to look at the stuff you'd like to have and not say anything. My willpower failed me once this week and it cost me $75. I can't say I have any regrets about it though.
