  1. You're my role model.
  2. Oops, I stand corrected. Can I still be grumpy?
  3. I can't say I agree with that. My father, his friends and most of my uncles have passed on but they all had guns in their homes, hunted, and enjoyed shooting as much as anyone I know. I have a 79 year old uncle that lives near me and whenever I visit him the conversation will eventially turn to guns. The only place I can shoot in this area is in his backyard. I keep trying to get him to sell me his Springfield Trapdoor rifle but he won't budge. He has some nice old weapons and a few modern guns. Anytime I bring something to shoot, he'll get something out to shoot with me. Growing up, I was around guns all the time. I was hunting by myself at 12 and can remember taking a rifle to shop class to show off. Try that today! Hunting rifles could be found in a lot of vehicles in the school parking lot during hunting season. Shockingly enough, nobody ever got shot. I'd say that most people I know that are anti-gun are people 40 or younger. Clearly, it does sound like the gentleman you mentioned had concerns about guns but I can't possibly see it as an older generation thing. Signed, A grumpy, almost older generation, gun lover.
  4. Will Carry, you made the right choice.
  5. I have some Officer size Chip McCormick cocobolo grips that come in a standard width or slim. I also have a set of Hogue Aluminum grips that feel great. I like the additional control I get using Pearce finger grooves on a compact.
  6. I have two Rock Islands and my wife has one. All are accurate and eat anything you want to feed them. Although none can take the place of my Dan Wesson CBOB, neither could any Kimber I've held. For a 1911 in Officer size, my Rock Island Compact is top notch and never failed where I've heard of feed issues with other compacts. You're wise to do the research before buying by name alone.
  7. I feel better now. Somebody is sicker than me.
  8. Test Results Sickness Quotient: 81% Your Sickness Quotient of 81% is definitely something to worry about. Detailed Diagnosis Interpersonal Insights Your sense of self-entitlement means you're probably the kind of person that pulled the wings off of butterflies when you were little. You complain about everything regardless of what it is. You wouldn't be happy even if you were hit by a new car. Job Performance & Attitude You work very slowly. In fact, if you went any slower you'd be in reverse. You have little empathy for anyone more successful at work than you, which is pretty much everyone. Personality Insight Your personal motto is "You are what you do when it counts." And everyone thinks you're an idiot when you say it.
  9. Benvenuto!
  10. A Dan Wesson is worth waiting for. Wait until you find one.
  11. 38/62 now. We're gaining but still waaaay behind. We need your votes!
  12. I suspect he actually couldn't care less.
  13. I'm in Louisiana and was in a Walmart yesterday. They also had the RWS 9mm. They also had lot's of .40, .45, other 9mm, .357, .38, .22, and .32. There was no .380 of course. I've not seen this much ammo at a Walmart in a long time. It was also in a glass case that I could walk right up and look at. Not locked 6 feet behind a counter where I can't even make out what's there. It makes me wonder why we have such a shortage in Tennessee when it appears to be plentiful in Louisiana.
  14. Should guns be allowed in areas where alcohol is served?Choice Votes Percentage of 5489 Votes Yes 33% No 67% This has alot of votes for a new poll but it's on today's page.
  15. Nashville News, Tennessee News and Local Weather from WSMV 4 News Should guns be allowed in areas where alcohol is served? Near the bottom on the right.
  16. Here's what I was told by a company that sells and delivers preconstructed sheds (I know, it may be a biased opinion). If it is not a permanent structure it doesn't need a permit. A shed brought in and set on blocks with no power would not be a permanent structure. It could be picked up and moved. If anchored on a slab or foundation, attached to a permanent structure, or had power run to it, it would need a permit. If it was built in place and not built so it could be picked up and moved, it sounds like a permanent structure. The rules probably vary from county to county. I am not an expert but I have recently stayed in a Holiday Inn Express. I've been in a Hampton Inn the last few nights so I may be way off base.
  17. Do you favor passage of the new guns in bars law? votes cast: 263
  18. I set a camera off in Texas over a month ago. In a rental car. Seat belt on. Not really sure what triggered it but nobody else was in the intersection at the time. No news is good news. Maybe I'll get a summons for picking my nose or something.
  19. Fixed that for you.
  20. For myself, and I'm sure for many others at the time, there was a huge interest in "space". The U.S. space program was in it's early stages. I used to be able to tell you all of the astronaut's names and flights and how long they were up there. Shepard's flight, Glenn's orbiting, and the tragic Apollo fire where we lost Grissom, White, and Chafee were memorable events in my childhood. When Star Trek began, it was a must watch. It didn't seem nearly as cheesy then. Now, if you want to talk cheesy, let's talk Lost In Space. Pure cheese but I thought Penny was way hot. I got to meet June Lockhart and Jonathan Harris back in the nineties. Still have there autographed pictures somewhere. And then, June Lockhart makes me think of Lassie but I guess I'm really going off topic now...
  21. I don't know about the Patriot safes but I believe the Browning safes I've looked at have a sticker on the inside edge of the door that says it's made in China.
  22. Welcome!
  23. I'm pleased to see Elmer Fudd and the Beaver on the list. Was ACORN involved with this list?
  24. 1964 Chevy Impala. 283 with a Powerglide. Paid $50 for it with a seized engine when I was 15. Had it running like a top by the time I got my license at 16. Bought and paid for by mowing lawns and washing cars.
