What about the Dickson Cider Stand?
A hot Dickens Cider is great but if you let it sit a while you'll have a hard Dickens Cider.

Ask my ancestors? Heck, I'm fed up with moral decline, technology, and fast food. If I could speak to my ancestors, I'd want to know about life in their time. I expect they would be in awe of today's world, for a couple of minutes. About as long as it would take to witness some kid with his a$$ sticking out of his pants, cussing at his cell phone in a fast food restaurant because he can't get signal to text a naked picture of himself to his boyfriend.

For me, your driving habits are an indicator of your intelligence level. Left laners are certainly irritating and apparently totally clueless. And it's also very clear that many drivers have no idea how to operate a turn signal. Unfortunately, from my observations, that includes many law enforcement vehicles that I would expect to set a good example on our roadways. I respect them for what they do for us but, c'mon man, is it that difficult to flip that lever and maintain a higher standard than the general public? And cell phones while driving? Not much disturbs me more on the roadway than to see a vehicle that's all over the road only to discover someone driving with a cell phone in one hand and a cigarette in the other with young children in the vehicle. It's a sad thing when a phone call and a smoke are more important than the safety of your children. I hate to rant but I've lost friends and family to drivers not following the rules of the road, including my 10 year old grandson killed by a tailgating 18 wheeler just last year. The driver was on a cell phone. This is a topic I'm very passionate about and I hope I've not offended anyone. Please be safe out there.

I've never been denied shipment on a C&R purchase. As cardcutter asked...who...what? -

I have worked in North America, South America, Australia, Europe, and Asia and have tried as many different beers as I could get my hands on and enjoyed many. Also had some pretty bad ones. My favorite, at the number one spot on my list, is Xingu from Brazil. The problem is, I can rarely find it. Maybe that's why i find it so special. A friend in the Netherlands used to get a Belgian Trappist Monk beer that is only sold at the monastery. Something like 10% alcohol. I only got to sample it a couple times because it's very difficult to obtain. Awesome beer but it doesn't count because it's unattainable. I have toured the Amstel brewery in Amsterdam. Interesting tour but the beer's a bit weak for my tastes. If you ever go to Australia, don't order a Fosters. Victoria Bitter is what most Australians drink. Fosters is "tourist beer". Order it with a plate of roo. Sheaf Stout is pretty good there. I noticed JeffL mentioned Old Rasputin Stout. An excellent brew. With a kick. About the only bad thing I can say about it is that it comes from California. Snobby enough?

HCP instructors in east Tennessee
Motasyco replied to mj12's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I live in Morristown but after some investigation decided my best option was to make the drive to a class held at the Knox County Sheriff's range. This was a few years ago and I no longer have the contact information for the instructor but the class was excellent. I get the impression some places just go through the motion of holding the class. This was the real deal. Maybe someone else with current information or contact info can weigh in. I would guess someone at the Knox Sheriff's Department would be able to help. -
You could do what I used to do for an ex-son-in-law that I didn't particularly care for. A tent in the back yard.

Old school. I love it. Wired. The way it ought to be.

I travel in Louisiana often on business. I have several good friends there. The law and reality are not always the same thing. New Orleans is more touristy, if that's a word, than the rest of the state and I expect in the tourist bars the gun law is generally obeyed. My impression, as you get deeper into the southern part of the state, is if you're not carrying in a bar, you're probably the only one.

There are a lot of organized rides that start out and/or end at Smoky Mountain HD. For a relaxing day out on the road, I'll take the Blue Ridge Parkway over the Dragon anytime.

You've got to go with what makes you feel good. What will make you happy. What feels good in your hand. We all have opinions and for me, it would be the S&W.

SSA, NOAA, and DHS ammo purchases???

It seems hollow points are seriously frightening to some people (sheep?). A quote from the article: "What would be the target of these 174, 000 rounds of hollow point bullets? It can’t simply be to control demonstrators or rioters. Hollow point bullets are so lethal that the Geneva Convention does not allow their use on the battle field in time of war. Hollow point bullets don’t just stop or hurt people, they penetrate the body, spread out, fragment and cause maximum damage to the body’s organs. Death often follows. Potentially each hollow nose bullet represents a dead American." Maybe I just don't understand. Aren't most, if not all, bullets deadly? I carry hollow points for self defense. I understand the expansion concept, but I consider hollow points to be safer to use because they are more likely to expand and expend energy in the target than a FMJ that would be more likely to pass through the target and potentially cause damage or harm beyond the target. My goal is to stop the threat and cause no harm beyond the threat. Is this an incorrect perception? I know, even with hollow points, to be mindful of what's beyond the target. If I have to draw and fire, my concern is not about the damage to my attacker but where the bullet may go beyond the attacker. To me, that's a benefit, perhaps unintended, of using hollow points, What do you think? Clearly a hollow point causes more damage to the target but do you consider them safer to use for self defense due to less potential for collateral damage?
